That's alright...Damian did the job. Did someone besides Lee actually get a hit with a runner in scoring position??? Wow. GO CREW!!!!

There seems to be a standard scouting report on Jenkins. They bust him up and in or low and away. At least I won't be embarassed to wear my Jenkins jersey this Saturdy.

Hats off to Brady Clark (3-4), El Caballo (big GW RBI double), Nintendo (Dong and very nice bunt) and of course the bullpen (4 scoreless innings of relief).

Good to finally start being able to beat the Pirates!

Okay I have to ask: Where did "Nintendo" come from?

I'm glad for the win. Bit disappointed in some of the performances, but we take the bad with the good.

nice job by the staff today and clark and Lee and Miller did a nice job at the Plate.

It early but isn"t it nice to have a catcher that can hit.

oh did the pitch hitters off the bench get any hits today

For those heading to the Stadium this weekend, some decent pitching match-ups!

Saturday Afternoon: Chris Carpenter (1-1, 7.84) vs. Doug Davis (2-0, 2.77)

Sunday Afternoon: Jason Marquis (0-0, 1.46) vs. Victor Santos (0-0, 3.60)

I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but can we give an early season shout out to the pen? Outside of Phelps one crappy outing, they've been more than adequate.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Another great day for the bullpen. Maddux and especially Bill Castro deserve a lot of credit so far. In the offseason I know I was concerned about the pen and it as been terrific.

If by that you mean "unbelievably friggen awesome" I would agree. I dont think there could be a better statistical bullpen in baseball at this point. Let the stats roll in on that, but I would give the pen an A+ for the first 8 games.
