6/26/2004 - Brewers (Santos) @ Twins (Guerrier)

The last time we thought the Brewers could take advantage of a young pitcher was Sunday vs. Aaron Cook. How'd that work out?

Have a good feeling though, about this one tonight.

I like Adam McCalvy's optimism -- the Brewers have lost three of four, which is true. It sounds better than the Brewers have lost three straight.

Who would you rather have playing rightfield... Ben Grieve or Jeff Liefer? Apparently Nedley's choice is Grieve.

For those that (like me) didn't know much about Matt Guerrier, here's the tidbit I wrote for the Daily Brew Series Preview:

The 25-year old Guerrier was recalled earlier this month from Triple-A Rochester and has made one start and one relief appearance. Claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh last winter, Guerrier (pronounced Ga-reer) was 3-6 with a 3.57 ERA, 58 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 80 and two-thirds innings for the Redbirds before being recalled. Guerrier was originally drafted in the tenth round of the 1999 draft by the White Sox out of Kent State University and was sent to the Pirates in exchange for closer Damaso Marte.

Here are his pre-2004 numbers care of the Baseball Cube:

Does anyone else here just plain despise Lew Ford, or is that just me? I think it is because he is a rookie and already a "brewer killer"

apparently its moneyball with daron and bill as they have mentioned OBP twice today so far, the second time regarding grieve.

maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel!

Sounds like there are plenty of border crossers at this game. The reaction from the crowd sounded awefully happy on the radio broadcast.

It always looks good when the middle/bottom of the order (besides Gary Bennett) are producing in the same game. If only Podsednik, Spivey and Jenkins could heat it up.

even though he looks like a blind man out in the field, it is starting to be apparent that Grieve needs to be in there everyday.

I'm not so sure what you can take from this game in determining who plays..it looks like batting practice out there

Hopefully we can somehow keep Santos starting only night games. He's been brilliant again tonight... looks like Johan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I can't let that go uncommented upon. Mike Adams, you are the man. First and second, one out... Joe Mauer, Luis Rivas, meet Mr. Adams. Now go sit back down.
