I really don't think this has any bearing whatsoever on what happens when the season's over. I've never seen an owner throw the manager under the bus, and I wouldn't expect it even if Mark was ready to tar and feather Ned.

But yeah, the "vote of confidence" often ranks up there with the Heisman Trophy and Melvin's "I'm not motivated to move him" as the kiss of death.

Goodness gracious we can only hope this is the typical kiss of death. The sad thing is that the move won't be made until Yost has wasted away even more games & missed the playoffs as a result.

If Ned were an SEC football coach, after today (pretending that it woudn't have been done already) influential alums would be passing the hat and tomorrow morning a bag of money would show up by courier at the AD's office containing the exact amount of cash needed to pay off Ned's contract. Inside would be a note reading, "It's him or you."

I think the Bucks pulled a similar stunt too(forgot the coach name), said he wasnt going to be fired but was in the offseason.

Mark A would be nuts not to let Yost go after this year, assuming the Brewers don't win the division. He was at the game--he heard the boos, and he knows that fans are going to be fed up if Ned's back next year. Like the previous two posters have said, both the Bucks and Packers gave Stotts and Sherman the VOC, and both were canned quickly. IMO, at this time next month, Ned's unemployed. We can only hope.
