Reckoner is one of the more beautiful songs I've heard in awhile. Phil Selway is a genius.

Indeed. Reckoner is the immediate standout for me as well.

However, while I think the album is excellent, it sounds almost a little chintzy. I have nothing against minimalism but I think the album could have used either more or less production. Either less to allow more of the instruments sound to come out or more to cover the cheapness of some of the sound effects.

That's a pretty small problem though. I'd probably give it 8 out of 10 or so, at least for now.

JoeHova, I think once you hear it in it's real form (the CD) as opposed to a low bitrate mp3, which has a lot of compression, there'll be more production. Radiohead always tends to be cheated by mp3. Personally, though, I'm thrilled that there's less production and less electronic noise. They've kind of gotten back to straight up songs again, and I like the Radiohead of Bends/OKC era the best, this kind of mixes all the best elements of the band together. But at the same time, they're not walking on ground they have already explored. Honestly, I was somewhat worried after "Hail to the Thief", which I wasn't an enormous fan of.

All in all, a great album in my book.

All I Need is still my favorite so far. Here's a picture of what the discbox will look like when it comes out.

If I had to make one big negative comment about In Rainbows, it would be that's it is too short. 42.5 minutes is not only paltry by Radiohead standards, but this has been 3 years in the offing. I know the discbox will have the bonus tracks, but they are just bonus tracks. The album proper is lacking somewhat in my humble opinion. It's also not as "innovative" as I would have hoped. There isn't any leap here, more of a consolidation, but that's okay.

Bodysnatchers, Weird Fish/Arpeggi, All I Need and Reckoner are still 4 of the best songs to come out this year.

It does kind of leave you wanting more. I can only hope that the extra 8 tracks are still part of the album and not just b-sides

So I'm suddenly obsessed with the final track Videotape. There are two versions of this song that are so good they make me want to bash my face against a brick wall.

The easiest place I found for them(after hundreds of hours of searching) is this place. Download the first two versions(From the basement and Live in Boston).

Then after that go to this site and watch the video for the 'From the basement' recording. Oh my god I think I'm gonna puke these are so good.

This just in. I have a new favorite band.

I've listened to like 10 different bootlegs of some sweet live shows they've done. Now I can safely say that I would faint like a little girl if I was at a Radiohead concert.

I was a casual fan until I saw them live about six years ago. I believe it was the first time they played Like Spinning Plates live, a couple of b-sides and a random downpour during Paranoid Android sealed the magic for me. I still listen to the bootleg of that show (Ohio) frequently. Diving further into Radiohead opened the door to a lot of fantastic musicians / bands for me. I can honestly say that they changed the way I listen to music.

I refuse to comment on this album until it has had at least another month to set in.

Update: In Rainbows Disc 2 was released. disc 2 is even more amazing than the completely perfect disc 1. My mind is blown. I'm currently listening to it.

Tracklist is as follows:

» MK 1 - cool filler

» Down is the New Up - Amazingly amazing

» Go Slowly - Holy crap

» MK 2 - odd filler

» Last Flowers - OH MY GOD

» Up on the Ladder

One of my roommates bought the box set, and I laughed at him them. Now that I've read the reviews of the bonus material, I'm still laughing. I guess I shouldn't judge until I hear it.

Is it ok to enter a thread just to say I can't stand Radiohead? Everyone seems to love this band, but they absolutely bore me to tears. Over-rated nonsense if you ask me. These are my opinions, nothing against anyone who does like them, I just don't see what the hype is all about. I liked CREEP when it came out years ago, bought the cd and resold it. Tried out some of their other stuff via downloads, and hated it all. Oh well, different strokes I guess.

Fo sho. Creep is probably their most basic/mainstream song. Most of the Pablo Honey stuff is like that though.

Pretty much everyone I know outside the internet can't stand Radiohead.
