Trying to keep these on the discussions going on in our forums. Today, we'll take a look at our catchers and their historical most comparable players.

Johnny Estrada

Most comparables:

  1. Alex Cintron (962)
  2. Don Padgett (957)
  3. Toby Hall (955)
  4. Pinky Hargrave (950)
  5. Mark DeRosa (950)
  6. Tony Eusebio (948)
  7. Butch Henline (948)
  8. Jeff Treadway (945)
  9. Bill Haselman (941)
  10. Tim Naehring (940)
Damian Miller

Most comparables:

  1. Michael Barrett (962)
  2. Rich Gedman (960)
  3. Tim Teufel (956)
  4. Bo Diaz (955)
  5. Greg Myers (954)
  6. Eddie Taubensee (950)
  7. John Flaherty (944)
  8. Charlie Neal (940)
  9. Joe Oliver (939)
  10. Marlon Anderson (937)
**Note: Mike Rivera doesn't have enough AB's to get comparables.

Thoughts:

1) Funny to see Michael Barrett as Miller's #1 comparable. I don't really see it, to be honest. Rich Gedman was a good one in his prime.

2) Estrada seems weird for a catcher. He's got a few generic backup infielders in his comps, and then guys like Toby Hall, Tony Eusebio.

With Miller certainly gone, maybe Michael Barrett is the best option for us at catcher. It's certainly not Estrada, healthy or not.

Can you add the general topic (i.e. "catchers") to the subject so there's more info about what the thread is actually about?

Yeah, I saw you did that to my first one. I forgot- I'll try to do that in the future. Thanks!
