If there was a day to give your bullpen a rest because your starter was in great shape, it was yesterday. Instead we had to use our "best" relievers. I'd guess with an off-day tomorrow they should be available but still. Yeah, I know it's early and Woodruff said he was tired (who knows if he was just being diplomatic) but not giving him at least one more inning still irks me a bit.
"Keston getting the night off after kind of a slow start..." Man, how would you describe someone's start to a season where the hardest contact they made was a grounder to 3B?
Same, but girlfriend not a Twins fan. Hulu is awesome, even with other live sports delays. I won't justify paying more for CableTV that 90% sucks. I'll have to make adjustments or just listen and look at box scores.
I think he was mad like everyone else at not getting to see Snell continue an historic performance. I dunno, man; historic performance or not, you gotta think about his next start. I mean, he threw 73 pitches through five and a third!
Came here to post something similar. Shildt is just the smartest manager ever, and bestest, for playing a player that had a couple hits and made catches in the outfield.
The bolded is exactly my first memory of County Stadium. It must have been 1992 or so and I would have been 7. I believe I found the box score of the game at one point. It was against the Orioles and the Brewers won, and I thought it was 1-0 but all of these details are a bit hazy as far as the actual year of the game but I remember being quite young.
I could see it being different. 2018 was a team accomplishment. This is Burnes in the spotlight by himself. I guess I don't really see a huge distinction. The guy has pitched in plenty high-leverage situations. He didn't have his best stuff and it's strange to hear people questioning his toughness or whether he's ready for the bright lights. He's had a really good season and he's hardly the reason this team is dead in the water (unless they're going to surprise us). I'm not trying to be a jerk and I realize people are upset in the in-game thread because I've been there plenty but Burnes has probably been one of the few bright spots this year. He didn't have his best stuff, or wasn't 100%, but c'mon now... some of these comments.. (not saying your comment was over-the-top)..
