  1. And yet again I'm going to say that Edgar Martinez deserves to be in the HoF. But I don't know if he'll ever get in.
  2. I don't think the Yankees need to save face. It seems like Jeter's camp banked on the fans and media taking his side, and each day it's looking more and more the opposite.
  3. Today Buster Olney wrote that Cashman traveled to Maryland to see Burnett, supposedly to tell him that the Yankees still believe in him. Or he gave him another black eye. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. He died from complications from pneumonia. Sad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Airplane! is one of the my favorite movies and he was in Golden Girls.
  5. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I'll be spending it by myself. Our dog had a seizure and can't travel, let alone be in a house with 30+ people. And since Conor is spending Christmas with my family, I told him to go and I'll watch the dog. I'm not that bummed. I plan on spending the day in my pajamas, drinking wine and watching an America's Next Top Model marathon. I hope everyone has a great day and safe travels. Enjoy the food and family!
  6. I've been following the Yankees since I've known about baseball (they're my hometown team) and I have seen NOTHING that would indicate that Burnett is going to be traded because of budget constraints. But whatever. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Has anyone heard about Cleveland Indians Snow Days? I would love to do something like that at Miller. http://mlb.mlb.com/cle/images/photogallery/snowdays/814x350_lf.jpg
  8. I don't know why you keep saying this. The Yankees do operate under a budget, but they can still afford Burnett next year even with overpaying for Lee, Pettitte, Rivera and Jeter. And who would replace him as fifth starter? Ivan Nova? Since there is a good chance he'll be better than his 2010 numbers, there is no immediate need to get rid of him. And I'm not opposed to trading Burnett with taking on some of his salary (which is one of the reason's I don't want to pay Jeter 4yrs/80mil) but it would have to be for the right pieces, not two average relievers.
  9. Definitely true, but I'd be surprised if Olivo didn't go the FA route, especially as a catcher. Also the Blue Jays only gave up cash for Olivo, so they might basically pay for a draft pick.
  10. It's not just about spending money since Lee is also looking for at least a 5 year deal. I just don't think that would be smart for the Brewers.
  11. And that's the risk, but it's a low risk. Olivo and Lopez are likely to go the FA route , and if they accept arbitration, they aren't bad pickups for the team. Plus a team can cut the player in spring training and not be responsible for the arbitration salary.
  12. I don't how common it is, but the Red Sox supposedly are doing the same thing with Felipe Lopez. I think it's smart, and it's also low risk. I don't know how much people here watch AL baseball, but they announced Gold Gloves. I have mixed emotions because my favorite Yankee deservedly won his first one today (Cano) but Jeter also won one. And it even made baseball-reference's homepage:http://imgur.com/DIVgI.jpg
  13. I don't think proximity to his AR home matters either. He will go to whoever gives him the most money.
  14. I'm guessing the OP linked to the wrong article. I linked to another article earlier tonight in the Random Thoughts thread that confirmed Miller and Morgan are out of ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Here's that one, and another from ESPN. I like Miller, but Morgan gone... http://imgur.com/tjYLo.gif
  15. Miller and Morgan are gone from ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. LINK
  16. Athletics won the bidding on Iwakuma. LINK
  17. Can anyone give any examples of how MLB unfairly promotes the Yankees over other teams? ESPN favors east coast teams, but that's not MLB. Concerning the postseason commercials, I remember watching the Lincecum and Rays ones a lot more than the others. If anything MLB favors the hot stories, like Hamilton, because it brings in the casual fan. The Yankees doing well doesn't prevent someone (casual fan or not) from paying attention to other teams. BTW, there are plenty of Yankees fans who say ESPN's Yankees coverage is always negative and favors the Red Sox. Same thing with Selig - he hates on the Yankees. I'm not one of those though.
  18. I don't think you're saying this, but to just be clear I would never say the Yankees (or Red Sox, Phillies, etc.) should be in the series every year because of ratings. I posted this because I find it sad to see such low ratings for the World Series. It's interesting though that fans complain about the same teams (even though there are been 10 different winners since the Wild Card), yet a new, exciting matchup couldn't even draw their own markets.
  19. This year's series was tied for lowest ratings ever, and down 28% from last year. Sad, because I love baseball and, even though I'm still bitter about the Rangers beating the Yankees, this was a great matchup. ETA: FYI Dallas and SanFran 4th and 13th in metro population, and 5th and 6th in television market.
  20. Sorry if I used someone else's line. . .I didn't intentionally rip it off from another poster. Though someone else had also beat me to the punch (by several months) on being bugged by the State Farm Insurance dimpled spokesman, so maybe I'm reading stuff that is sticking, and then I'm regurgitating it as my own. I'm not consciously snagging after other people's yuks. No, no no. I thought someone had already called that Sedar would be gone. I quoted you just because what I thought you said was funny. Sorry for the confusion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  21. I would never have guess this, but I'm happy. Congrats Giants. Did anyone else see that little old lady cheering in SanFran when Fox went to commercial? She must have been 80. Awesome.
  22. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif BTW, someone here called this.
  23. Sorry. It's a joke from a thread in the Minor League forum. I'll change it again soon, probably.Aw, no you don't have to. I was just commenting.
