  1. I thought it'd be nice to have a thread for just random news, thoughts, highlights, etc. I'll start. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Did anyone see Carlos Santana - Ryan Kalish collision tonight? Yikes. Supposedly Santana only bruised his knee.
  2. McCalvy makes it sound like he is wearing them currently in the article he wrote today for mlb.com. I like this deal in that the Brewers get someone in Corey Hart who is likely going to be at least average for his position until this 3 year deal is up. What gets me is the amount of people on this board who are also behind the deal and seem genuinely ecstatic about it. I expected to come to brewerfan today and see people yelling about DM making another bad signing. Go back and search for the 2 Corey Hart threads from March and April and then come back here and help me understand how 382 PAs turned "DFA Corey Hart" into "Hurray Corey Hart". I hope it's the contact lenses and rock bat that are helping Corey swing for the fences because if he starts regressing to his '08 or '09 numbers I fear people will be yelling about the money he is making. Unfortunately, no matter what team you root for, there will be fans who can only think 'what have you done for me LATELY?!'
  3. Maybe the injury is still bothering him, but I'd bet he's not hitting well because he got into some bad habits after the injury. A day off never hurts, but I think the focus needs to be on his mechanics.
  4. I feel for Orioles fans. The team needs new ownership, not a new manager.
  5. I teared up when I saw she passed. Golden Girls is one of my favorite shows and all the women were excellent in it. Thank you Rue for being a friend.
  6. It's crazy to think of someone who has 600+ homeruns as squandered talent, but I guess that's what makes the whole thing so sad.
  7. Did you read his retirement statement? Did you notice how he forced his way out of Seattle? (Luckily the Mariners got a much better player (from that point on) in return for him.) Or how he wouldn't move from centerfield in Cincinnati despite being arguably the worst defensive player in the league? The list goes on and on. Griffey is one of the least likable players in sports but because he smiled a lot the media hyped him up.I'm with you Hova, but it is sad to hear him retiring. One of the game's greatest "what ifs."
  8. I was the person who said "That's awful" and will admit that when TLB read the description to me - "sour ale" - it didn't sound good. But I went in with an open mind and just didn't like it. I encouraged TLB to dump them down the drain but they're still in our fridge. Who knows when they'll be drunk.
  9. Rue McClanahan died. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  10. Watching this last night, it might be the only time when baseball made me sick to my stomach. I want him to have the perfect game, but I really want him to be the catalyst to bring replay into the game. And if the play is reversed, it will set an interesting precedent. For example, what do you do about the Twins game last night where a blown call directly impacted the game? I guess you can make the exception since the outcome doesn't change.
  11. Just FYI, but I'm still having trouble with PMs. I don't see them in my toolbar. And I wonder if other people are having the same problem because I've PMed a couple members and they haven't gotten back to me. Of course it could be because they don't like me, but I'd like to think they're having the same issue.
  12. So Oswalt was ejected yesterday for showing frustration with the umpire's strike zone. Not only were those strikes, but he did not deserve to be tossed so quickly. A MLB official said that the umpire will be addressed "sternly." It's really becoming ridiculous. ETA: After rewatching, eh, maybe they weren't strikes. But the situation still could have been handled better.
  13. There has to be at least one brewerfan.net member who can pitch better than Jeff Suppan.
  14. So West, Buehrle, and Guillen were fined and West is blaming the media for taking his comments out of context. He is just obnoxious.
  15. Alright, I'll admit it: I vote all Brewers. No good reason, I guess because I'm just not a fan of the AS game. But I do watch because it is baseball so why not see my guys, deserving or not.
  16. I read a report earlier today that said he will likely be suspended or fired, but we'll see. There doesn't seem to be much accountability. He is doing the Red Sox/Royals series this weekend so that might become interesting. I don't like him, especially once he made those Yankees/Red Sox comments so I would be happy to see him gone. BTW, I liked Buehrle's comments after the game: "I think he's too worried about promoting his CD [West is a country music singer/songwriter with his own Web site], Buehrle said. "And, I think he likes seeing his name in the papers a little bit too much instead of worrying about the rules."
  17. Based on your recommendation here I picked up "If Chins Could Kill." I thought it was great. I always loved the Evil Deads, so the behind-the-scenes were fantastic and his chapters on being an actor were really interesting. So thank you. I'm going to try to find "Behind the Paint" next. I'm not a fan of the band but the book looks promising.
  18. So many of those questions really got answered through out the show if you pay close attention. The dharma food, Walt's appearing, Christian's appearing off the island, and why the psychic said Claire had to raise Walt were some of the ones that did not get answered. However I would say 50% of those got answered and another 25% easily fall into the "is that really important at all category." People seemed to nitpick questions with Lost a lot. Obviously some of those on that list were jokes, ie Expose, the polar bear in walt's comic, etc, but only a handful of those would fall in the genuine unanswered questions. The article in the last link was a good read as well. I agree. If secrets to the island were the only thing the viewer was interested in, then they missed the point of the series. I just thought the video was a good recap of all the "What does that mean?" moments.
  19. Video about unanswered Lost questions. I'm surprised about how many I forgot about.
  20. Yup, yup yup. I think "The Wire' is the best show and "Six Fee Under" has the best finale, but "Lost" just grabbed me. Love. I'm seriously sad it's over but happy the way it ended.
  21. That isn't my interpretation at all. I see it as two different timelines, Jack dying was the end of one whereas the church was the second ending. ETA: If anything, the flash-sideways would be purgatory, because to me it seemed the island definitely happened. NM, RobertR beat me to it.
  22. I really like the ending (well, the whole finale) and I got closure, but it looks like there are plenty of fans who feel the opposite of me. I do wish that they had something on Walt, but the unanswered questions don't bother (at least now). I was crying the last 15 minutes, and I loved when Locke smiled at Ben outside the church. It reminded me of when he became my favorite.
  23. This is great. I have never liked Griffey, I guess because I'm a Yankees fan. As a kid he made me cry after the 95 division series, he has always badmouthed the organization, he holds a grudge against Billy Martin because as a kid he yelled at him for running through the clubhouse, and I remember him having a rep for being a prima donna when he left Seattle. Still if would have been nice to see what he could have done without being injured all the time.
