  1. Scattered t-storms the next couple of days. One-line post (This space left intentionally blank?).http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Stone Mountain is pretty neat, too, if you like historical stuff. Not just the carvings in the mountain itself but the Civil War era mansion, buildings, etc. on the grounds.
  3. If you can swing it, Merrimac Caverns in MO is pretty cool. I don't remember exactly where it is, but as a kid I loved going through it. It's also known as one of Jesse James hideouts. I'll pile on to the driving through Illinois bit. North to south, it's the most boring drive in the midwest, with west to east through Ohio being a close second. Maybe you could skew west a little and go see the Field of Dreams in Iowa. I haven't seen it, but my brother (a fellow seamhead) loved it.
  4. Just switched to DTV. Cons: We have their DVR's which are pieces of garbage - numerous software issues coupled with customer service that only know how to tell you how to reset the thing, not good. Programming-wise, I keep trying to tell them that FSN-WI is full-time and should be my local sports net (still get Brewer games, though). They keep telling me FSN-North is my local sports net ant keep shoving the gerbil programming my way (I live in Waukesha County). Pros: Picture is much better; channels better arranged (as previously mentioned), and the loss of picture due to weather are about the same or even less than the amount of times our digital cable box went out and reloaded itself (cable CS rep.: "Just unplug it for 15 seconds and plug it back in and it will be good as new." Me: "Yeah, for the next half a day."). Also, the free promos aren't bad.
  5. Also on the noise front. Car stereos that are worth more than the car. Along with that, even if they aren't worth more than the car, do you think I want to hear it from the bedroom farthest from the street - in a residential neighborhood - at 11 pm. several nights a week?
  6. This is just typical Melvin positioning. In "Melvin-speak" this is: "Sure I'll trade an outfielder eventually, but if you want one now it'll cost you a little extra." Everybody knows there are too many players to keep, so he's using injuries as a bargaining chip - our own, no less. Sheer genius.

  8. Nope. Even at minimum price. The roster spot is better spent elsewhere.
  9. The fact that "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" was on American Movie Classics.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif
  10. I searched this thread out to bring it back. My (latest) rant. The online ads that use silhouettes of people dancing as an eye-catcher - especially the one of the guy who looks like he has impaled himself on a stick (arms & legs flailing up and down). As an eye-catcher it works too well. I now go out of my way to avoid seeing the accompanying print. Oh, and if I hear "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" one more time, I'll destroy whatever's playing it. I'm done for now. Bah Humbug!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  11. You're not alone. As long as the stock markets have a rule about not being closed more than three days straight, I'll have to work the day after Thanksgiving.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  12. "I think we took a wrong turn. . . turn. . . turn. . ." (echo)http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif "Stay on target." I like the Garcia trade and would do that in a minute. The Wells trade is doable only if he can agree to an extension before the trade. If not, it's far too much for a one-year rental unless we get a blockbuster deadline deal.
  13. Amen. Seeing mediocre players get contracts closer to A-Rod than the league minimun (not that A-Rod should get what he gets). Mini-whine: the new cable grid interface on TW's digital "service" in SE WI. It sucks big time!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  14. The Mess wouldn't bite, but Hendrickson/Clark is all I'd give for LM at the moment. I agree with Brit and others that Davis is far too much to give up for what could be a head-case that doesn't end up filling a need in CF.
  15. Somehow, I now dislike what Bando did to the team even more. Oh, what could've been.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif IF Nomar would agree to 3/20 Melvin would do it in the blink of an eye. So would two dozen other GM's, though. At least there's a possibility.
  16. The Yankees. Big Stein wants a new DH just for the sake of change after another first round exit. He's also gotta be salivating at having a chance at a Yankee breaking the home run record. Ego will play a big factor on where BB signs.
