  1. On SuSE you can use YAST to take care of a lot of stuff, like turning off services you don't need to configuring or tweaking hardware. I consider it easier than Windows, but YMMV.
  2. We're going to be looking for a laptop for the same purposes soon, too. The things really to look for in this type of laptop is screen size (17" would be much better on the eyes in the long run than 15") followed by memory. Though if you get the SuSE linux HP, memory isn't at as much of a premium as linux doesn't need as much. Plus, you can get OpenOffice free for linux. I also like the feel of SuSE as it's a very polished linux.
  3. I'm going nuts waiting for Friday - not for my end of the work week, but for the Crew to start playing again. A lot of folks around here can probably relate to what I'm like in the off-season.
  4. On the muppet line, you can also watch the episodes on dvd. My wife got the one with Mark Hamill from her sister. Pigs in Space plus you get Mark gargling a song with a muppet in kilts. TLB, as a fellow SW aficionado, you would appreciate that one.
  5. Nope on the Hawks. That's light years beyond where he's at (coaches pitch). Back on target. Brett Favre has given me a headache.
  6. Same here - verbatim. Mass, you're are cruel!!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif This with the Favre stuff, too!
  7. I have now officially lost what little respect for him I still had following all this. He was considered a legend by Packer fans like myself and has since resorted to second-hand attacks on Thompson presumably because he couldn't get his way with Moss. Retiring, watching the Packers draft two QB's, and then wanting to unretire smacks of complete unprofessionalism and lack of respect of the organization and for Rodgers in particular. I'll dupe this post on Lambeauleap.com, which is probably where it should be anyway.
  8. Patrick, my son's game was also called in the bottom of the second. Plus, he also had a game canceled on Tuesday. You wouldn't happen to live in Hartland? Sounds like your son is the same as mine about baseball. I've even taught both of mine to hate the Cubs.
  9. Pitch, you nailed my "not gonna go there" rant!! One more thing bugging me, and this is for the aforementioned boys. Due to all the rain this year, over a third of their baseball games so far this summer were cancelled. Even last night, the 9-yr-old's game was called after an inning and the 6-yr-old's game never even started. These boys live for baseball and I feel bad for them.
  10. Viagra commercials. Not only do they bug the snot outta me (a whole separate "life isn't fair" rampagehttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif) but can't I watch Sportcenter with my 6 & 9 year old boys without that coming on? Speaking of everybody's favorite four-letter sports network, those X-Game commercials are really annoying, even though I know they are aimed at a different crowd, who ironically is probably playing video games at that moment anyway. There, I let a little steam off for now so I won't completely blow http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  11. The Indian in the Cupboard reminded me of two others, though I don't know why. The Borrowers and Stuart Little. Both have Hugh Laurie (House) as treacly sweet characters, which makes me appreciate his acting so much more.
  12. 14 hours later and Mota is still a Brewer.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Why does a team that just acquired a '07 Cy Young winner have a bullpen with him, among others, in it?
  13. Another one crossed my mind: the Hornblower series from A&E. It's out on video. If he likes them, you could even encourage him to read the books which are much better. Even my wife liked the movies. As far as Princess Bride goes, just tell him that Andre the Giant is in it. That and rattle off "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." And if that's not enough, just have him watch through the opening parts with Savage and Falk. Flight of the Navigator brings back great memories - "Compliance."
  14. Miracle is a great suggestion. Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl (the only one I saw) and the first National Treasure movie would be good, too. Not sure of the ratings on either, though. Pretty much any of the watchable Star Trek movies should be good (just not 1 & 5, that come to mind).
  15. Too cool!! Watch out for Randall Simon. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif Come on, someone had to get that out of the way. Is the hot dog really as flaky as it looks? Also, do those costumes get gamey? Best of luck and don't pull a casing!
  16. I'm not convinced he's gone. Maybe it's my blue-colored glasses (BTW, nice pic Diskono!) but Sheets current contract is $11 mil. Gagne's $10 mil. comes off the books, which would leave enough to re-sign Ben and work on retaining other players (ahem, Hart, cough, cough). Then again, it's play money to me.
  17. Understood, that's why I said short-term. LaPorta would be the long-term solution, hopefully starting next year, or even sooner if he could handle. Yes it's a short term risk, but hanging on to Prince too long makes that risk seem like nothing in the grand scheme of things.
  18. Well put NDOG44 (see reply #64)! We have a player who has a national name and following who is cheap at the moment. There are teams out there who probably would overpay to get him (good starting pitching, anyone?). I would wait until his recent tax issues blow over before dealing him, at least, if not until after the season. We have talent in the minors to replace him, although maybe not immediately. We could even move 3TO to 1st short-term if need be. If he's moved after the season, LaPorta could easily be moved in to place. No brainer, indeed.
  19. Wow! Add on to that the Cards have the Red Sox, the Cubs have the White Sox, the Astros have the Rays, and the Reds to the Yankees while the Crew has the Orioles at home and the Pirates have the Jays at home (although the Jays are due to break out). This trend at least has a fighting chance to continue for a little while longer.
  20. Agreed on Prince not wanting to be here. Trade him for pitching and use the coin that was earmarked for him on locking up Sheets and Hart.
  21. If you're looking for more infant version stuff, these are great.
  22. I need a haircut, too, but I have a bald spot started on the back of my head and use the longer hair to cover it. If I ever use a comb-over to cover my receding hairline in the front, I've instructed my wife to take me out back and put me out of my misery. Also, Firefox 3 is released. Varoooooom! It's noticeably faster.
  23. Couldn't resist. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff144/DatHoser/emo_philips.jpg
  24. Griffey I can handle. The two from the team so vile that I shan't repeat their name here is a different story. 25 votes for Oooooooooooooverbay doesn't hurt eitherhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
