Brewers draft picks in the CWS
TooLiveBrew replied to CWSOmaha's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
My take on Jungmann... I wasn't impressed at all with his start against ASU. 'Disappointed in what I saw for #12 overall in a deep draft' would sum it up better. Obviously it's only one start, though. -
Final: Fort Wayne 11, @Wisconsin 5 Playoff hopes take a hit By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Fort Wayne TinCaps defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 11-5 on Friday night at Time Warner Cable Field. Fort Wayne collected 17 hits and took advantage of five Timber Rattlers errors in the win. Chris Bisson led the way for the Fort Wayne offense with four hits and four RBI. The loss dropped the Rattlers two games off the pace of the Wild Card leaders. Wisconsin has nine games left in the first half. Wisconsin starting pitcher Brooks Hall escaped the first inning without allowing a run despite giving up three hits. Hall gave up hits to the first two batters he faced in the second inning on a single and a double. But, Hall looked he would get out of the inning when he got the next two batters. However, Bisson drove a single through the left side of the infield for a 2-0 lead. Luis Domoromo lined a two-out solo homer in the top of the third and the TinCaps (27-33) were up 3-0. Wisconsin started the back-and-forth portion of the game in the fourth inning. Fort Wayne starter Adys Portillo, who had allowed one hit and struck out five in the first three innings, loaded the bases on a double, single, and walk with no outs. A walk to TJ Mittelstaedt forced in a run and drove Portillo from the game. One out later, Fort Wayne reliever Noah Mull walked Yadiel Rivera to force in another run and the Rattlers were down 3-2. But, Wisconsin left the bases loaded. Fort Wayne put two runs on the board in the top of the fifth. Rymer Liriano singled in a run against Hall. Hall got the second out of the inning, but a walk ended his night. Reliever Del Howell entered the game and gave up a walk and an RBI single to give the TinCaps a 5-2 lead. Greg Hopkins hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth and the Rattlers were back within a run. Then, Wisconsin had runners at second and third with one out in the frame with a chance to tie the game or take the lead. But, both runners were left stranded. Fort Wayne responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to go back up by three runs. Consecutive two-out RBI singles by Liriano and Domoromo made the score 7-4. The Rattlers loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Cody Hawn lifted a flyball to right-center to drive in Franklin Romero from third. Reggie Keen, the runner at second, tagged and went to third. Nick Shaw, the runner at first, went halfway to second, but slipped in the basepath between first and second as he started back for first base. The throw to first doubled Shaw up and the next batter was retired to strand Keen at third and leave the Rattlers down 7-5. The score remained 7-5 until the TinCaps scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth. Fort Wayne tacked on three more unearned runs in the top of the ninth as Wisconsin committed three errors in the ninth. It was bad news all around the Midwest League scoreboard for the Timber Rattlers. Quad Cities, the leaders in the Western Division Wild Card race, destroyed Great Lakes 20-2. Peoria beat South Bend 6-3 and Beloit edged Lake County 3-2 in ten innings. Wisconsin (32-29) has dropped into a three-way tie for third place in the Western Division with Peoria (31-30) and Beloit (31-30). All three teams trail Quad Cities (34-27) by two games in the chase for the Wild Card. Game two of the series is Saturday night at Time Warner Cable Field. Dan Britt (3-1, 4.71) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Andrew Werner (1-5, 3.60) is set to start for the TinCaps. Game time is 6:35pm. The Timber Rattlers celebrate the science fiction classic Star Wars™ with Star Wars Night. The players and coaches will wear special jerseys based on the movies. The jerseys will be available in a silent auction to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin. Characters will be on hand to meet fans and throw out a first pitch before the game, too. After the game, FOX 11 presents a Saturday Night Fireworks Display. If you can't make it out to the ballpark, tune in for the game on AM1280, WNAM or timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15pm. HOME RUNS: FW: Luis Domoromo (4th, 0 on in 3rd inning, off Brooks Hall, 2 out) WIS: Greg Hopkins (1st, 1 on in 5th inning, off Noah Mull, 1 out) WP: Jeff Ibarra (1-2) LP: Brooks Hall (2-1) TIME: 3:28 ATTN: 3,430 Wisconsin Box Score Keen & Hopkins both had two hits; Keen added a walk & his 24th stolen base of the season (75% success rate). Shaw, Hawn, Walker, Mittelstaedt, & Franklin Romero each had one hit; Mittelstaedt walked twice, Walker once. Yadiel Rivera's RBI walk was his lone contribution to the offense tonight. Brooks Hall's final line: 4.2 IP, 11 H, 5 R/ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Reliever Eric Marzec struck out four in his two innings of work, but three errors behind him led to four runs -- none of them earned. Marzec allowed a single, a triple, and walked one. Wisconsin Play-by-Play After six innings, the T-Rats had closed the defecit to 7-5, and were even down just by three after the 8th. But the TinCaps capitalized on defensive blunders by Wisconsin to secure the game: Fort Wayne Top of the 9th Tyler Stubblefield reaches on throwing error by shortstop Yadiel Rivera. With Connor Powers batting, Tyler Stubblefield steals (1) 2nd base. Connor Powers strikes out swinging. Emmanuel Quiles reaches on fielding error by first baseman Cody Hawn. Tyler Stubblefield to 3rd. Chris Bisson triples (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Reggie Keen. Tyler Stubblefield scores. Emmanuel Quiles scores. Rico Noel walks. Pitcher Change: Charly Bashara replaces Eric Marzec. Rymer Liriano grounds into a force out, second baseman Nick Shaw to shortstop Yadiel Rivera. Chris Bisson scores. Rico Noel out at 2nd. Rymer Liriano advances to 2nd, on throwing error by shortstop Yadiel Rivera. Luis Domoromo flies out to center fielder Reggie Keen. Obviously making up a three-run margin in the 9th isn't easy, but it's sure a heckuva lot easier than six runs. Marzec should've been out of the 9th with no damage.

Final: @Albuquerque 7, Nashville 6 I'm sure the game story will be posted at some point tonight, but I'm tired & have to hit the road early tomorrow morning. Nashville Box Score The Isotopes took a 6-3 lead into the top of the 7th inning after roughing up Sounds starter Sam Narron to the tune of twelve hits, six runs, & two home runs. However, singles from Zelous Wheeler & Brett Carroll, combined with a two-run homer from cleanup hitter Mat Gamel, brought the score back to even heading into the 8th. Relievers Zack Segovia & Donovan Hand combined to keep Albuquerque off the scoreboard in the 7th, 8th, & 9th innings, and the game went to extras. Sean Green didn't fare as well, surrendering a walk-off home run to the first batter he faced. Just as quickly as the game had gone to extra innings, it was over. The walk-off came from the first batter in the bottom of the 10th, Isotopes leftfielder Trayvon Robinson. Carroll & Wheeler both went 2-4, & Gamel was 1-5. Erick Almonte went 2-5 with a double. George Kottaras was 1-4 with a double. Taylor Green didn't start, but finished 1-2 with a double after coming in on a double-switch in the 6th inning. Former Brewers prospect Dana Eveland went six innings, allowed six hits, three runs, walked two & struck out two. Nashville Play-by-Play The 7th inning rally: Nashville Top of the 7th Pitcher Change: Travis Schlichting replaces Dana Eveland, batting 9th. Zelous Wheeler singles on a line drive to center fielder Jamie Hoffmann. Taylor Green grounds out, pitcher Travis Schlichting to first baseman John Lindsey. Zelous Wheeler to 2nd. Eric Farris pops out to shortstop Justin Sellers. Brett Carroll singles on a line drive to left fielder Trayvon Robinson. Zelous Wheeler scores. Brett Carroll to 2nd on the throw. Mat Gamel homers (10) on a fly ball to right field. Brett Carroll scores. Erick Almonte grounds out, shortstop Justin Sellers to first baseman John Lindsey. Nashville Gameday

Funny, because the eyebrows were something I didn't have to mess with (aside from darkening them). Everything from above the eyes & up was covered with a hat on the pic of Prince, so I had to try to basically paint over Mr. T's skin color & try to match Prince's. Didn't work all that well. So I put an effect on the image that blurred it a bit, & made it look less awful! EDIT: What it is... is the lack of shading/light on the forehead -- since it was just crudely painted. That's why it looks like a cartoon/muppet

"We have an outfielder named Ruben Ozuna that you definitely need to keep an eye on. Definitely," Seid said. "A center fielder, a 19-year-old kid that I think is going to be coming over here [to the U.S.] to play on one of our short season teams. That's a guy that will be very interesting." Oooh! Tidbit!
-
Thanks guys http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I feel like everything above Prince's eyes looks like Bert from Sesame Street.
-
I'm not good enough! I don't know how I would do that, unless I found an image of Prince in exactly the same position. Hah, this Mr. P pic is bad enough.

Final: @Wisconsin 5, Lake County 4 Rattlers win, pick up ground in playoff chase By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GRAND CHUTE, WI - Tyler Thornburg struck out 10 over seven innings and picked up the victory as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers edged the Lake County Captains 5-4 Thursday night at Time Warner Cable Field. The Rattlers win was coupled with a loss by Quad Cities to allow Wisconsin to move to within a game of the Western Division Wild Card spot with ten games remaining in the first half. Reggie Keen got the Rattlers (32-28) on the board first when he scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning. But, the Captains (28-32) rallied for a pair of runs with two outs in the top of the second inning. An RBI double by Brian Heere was followed by an RBI single off the bat of Argenis Martinez to give Lake County a 2-1 lead. Thornburg shut the Captains down the rest of the time he was in the game. The Rattlers right-hander retired the final 16 batters he faced. Thornburg matched his career high for strikeouts in a game with 10 and walked one. He gave up four hits, all in the second inning, but needed the Wisconsin bats to get going to put himself in line for his sixth win of the season. Chris Dennis delivered in the third with a two-run single to put the Rattlers up 3-2. Cody Hawn knocked in a run with a double in the fourth. Greg Hopkins, who moved his hitting streak to nine games earlier in the night, clubbed an RBI double off the wall in left in the sixth and the Rattlers were up 5-2. Thornburg turned the game over to the bullpen in the eighth inning, but Wisconsin needed three pitchers to get through the frame. Eric Marzec got the first out, but a single and a walk put two runners on base. Ronny Rodriguez singled in a run and knocked Marzec out of the game. Tom Keeling struck out the next batter for the second out, but walked the second batter he faced to load the bases. Rattlers closer Greg Holle got the final out of the inning with a grounder to third. In the top of the ninth, the first two Lake County hitters reached on singles against Holle. A sacrifice bunt moved the tying runs into scoring position. An RBI grounder by Martinez made the score 5-4 and sent the tying run to third with two outs. Holle walked a batter on a 3-2 pitch to put runners on the corners. But, Holle finally closed out the game when he got Rodriguez to ground out to third base. Holle is 13 for 13 in save opportunities this season. Quad Cities lost 2-0 to Lansing on Thursday night to fall to 33-27. Wisconsin trails the River Bandits by one game for the first half Western Division Wild Card. The River Bandits have nine games left in the half. The Rattlers have ten games left in the half. Wisconsin starts a series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Friday night at Time Warner Cable Field at 7:05pm. Brooks Hall (2-0, 3.27) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Fort Wayne has Adys Portillo (1-6, 7.32) as their scheduled starting pitcher. Friday night is a North Shore Bank/95.9 KISS-FM Family Night at the ballpark. As part of Family Night children 12 and under eat free. After the game, 95.9 KISS-FM presents the first fireworks display of the 2011 season! After the fireworks, Fazoli's invites children 14 and under to participate in Kids Run the Bases. Also, the first 500 fans will receive a complimentary special Timber Rattlers edition of Inside Wisconsin Sports Magazine. If you can't make it out to the ballpark on Friday night, tune in for the Broadcast on AM1280, WNAM or timberrattlers.com for the broadcast starting at 6:45pm. WP: Tyler Thornburg (6-0) LP: Kyle Blair (3-4) SAVE: Greg Holle (13) TIME: 2:49 ATTN: 3,371 Wisconsin Box Score Keen, Hawn, & Hopkins each had two hits, with Hawn & Hopkins notching doubles. Nick Shaw had a single & a walk. Mike Walker lived up to his name, going 0-1 with two walks. T.J. Mittelstaedt was 1-3 with a walk. Thornburg's final line: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, 10 K. Tyler was literally perfect in innings 3 through 7! I liked his selection back on draft day last season, & I'm liking him more & more. However, it's time for the Brewers to challenge him & get him up to Brevard County. In fact, it's been time for that. Let's go, Brewers. Wisconsin Play-by-Play And now, the top of the 8th inning, or, "How the Timber Rattlers Managed to Not Give the Game Away After All": Lake County Top of the 8th Pitcher Change: Eric Marzec replaces Tyler Thornburg. Brian Heere grounds out to first baseman Cody Hawn. Argenis Martinez singles on a bunt ground ball to third baseman Michael Walker. With LeVon Washington batting, wild pitch by Eric Marzec, Argenis Martinez to 3rd. LeVon Washington walks. Ronny Rodriguez singles on a line drive to right fielder Robert Garvey. Argenis Martinez scores. LeVon Washington to 2nd. Pitcher Change: Thomas Keeling replaces Eric Marzec. Carlos Moncrief called out on strikes. Anthony Gallas walks. LeVon Washington to 3rd. Ronny Rodriguez to 2nd. Pitcher Change: Greg Holle replaces Thomas Keeling. Giovanny Urshela grounds out, third baseman Michael Walker to first baseman Cody Hawn.

Final: Nashville 14, @Albuquerque 1 Red-Hot Sounds Rout Isotopes In Series Opener, 14-1 Gindl Fuels Nashville Offense With Two Homers, Five RBIs Nashville Sounds ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Caleb Gindl belted two homers and drove in five runs to lead the red-hot Nashville Sounds to a 14-1 thumping of the Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday evening at Isotopes Park in the opener of a four-game series. The win was the sixth in the last seven games for Nashville (27-32). During the five games on their current road trip, the Sounds have outscored the opposition, 50-9. Gindl (2-for-4) established a new career high with five RBIs in the contest and became the fifth different Nashville player to record a two-homer game this season. With the solid night, Gindl extended his hitting streak to nine games, matching the longest effort by a Sounds player this season (fourth occurrence, joining Farris, Kottaras, and Maysonet). Every Sounds position player recorded a knock by the fifth inning and seven of the eight finished with multiple hits on the evening, led by catcher George Kottaras' 4-for-5 effort. Right-hander Mark DiFelice (2-1) pitched well to earn his first victory in a starting role this season, working five scoreless innings while allowing four hits and striking out five. He stranded Albuquerque runners in scoring position in three separate innings. Chase Wright worked the final four innings for Nashville, allowing one run on four hits, and was credited with his first save of the year. For the third time in the past four games, Nashville erupted for a six-run first inning against the opposition, roughing up veteran Isotopes starter Tim Redding in the opening frame to jump ahead for a quick 6-0 lead. After Brandon Boggs (3-for-5) opened the contest with a single to center, Jordan Brown and Eric Farris followed with back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Sounds a 2-0 advantage. Red-hot catcher George Kottaras stepped in and delivered a two-run homer to right, his third longball of the season. He continued his hot hitting with a 4-for-5 night, missing the cycle by a triple, and has hit safely in 17 of his last 20 tilts at a .411 clip (30-for-73). Later in the frame, Gindl slugged the visitors' second two-run jack of the inning, belting a mammoth homer to dead center that cleared the wall beyond the 428-foot mark. Edwin Maysonet (walk) also scored on the outfielder's fifth roundtripper of the season. Nashville tacked on five more runs against Redding in the third to stretch the lead to 11-0. Gindl continued his power surge when he crushed another massive home run, a three-run shot to center that landed on the berm well beyond the center field wall and upped the visitors' lead to 9-0. Kottaras and Mat Gamel, who each preceded Gindl with a single to start the inning. The Sounds' third-inning rally continued when Taylor Green (3-for-5) followed Gindl's blast with a double to extend his hit streak to seven and came around to score on a Boggs two-out RBI triple to right that chased Redding. Brown greeted new Isotopes reliever Mario Alvarez by dumping on 0-2 offering into right field for a run-scoring single that made it an 11-0 contest. Gamel upped the Nashville lead to 13-0 in the fifth when his two-out, bases-loaded single to center off Alvarez plated DiFelice and Boggs after the Albuquerque right-hander issued three free passes to fill the bags. The Sounds scratched across another run in the top of the sixth when Gindl drew an inning-opening walk from Alvarez and later scored for the third time on Boggs' two-out single to center extend the lead to 14-0. Albuquerque broke up Nashville's shutout bid with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning against Wright when Trayvon Robinson ripped an RBI single up the middle to score ex-Sound JD Closser, who had doubled with one out. Redding (2-6) took the loss for Albuquerque after being tattooed for 11 runs on 10 hits (seven for extra bases) in just 2 2/3 innings of work. The teams continue the series with another 8:05 p.m. CT meeting on Friday night. Left-hander Sam Narron (4-2, 3.13) will man the bump for the Sounds to face former Nashville hurler Dana Eveland (6-3, 3.90). Nashville Box Score Make that one or two games left. But go Sounds! Prove me pathetically wrong! Boggs, Brown, & Farris continue to top the order for Nashville. I'm not a fan of Don Money the manager. Caleb Gindl's massive night came out of the SEVENTH spot in the lineup, right ahead of Taylor Green, who's been hot at the plate for weeks now. Seriously, Eric Farris is batting third. Yikes. Anyway, the batters were awesome tonight. The game story noted most of it. Click the box score link -- you'll see lots of hits & runs & RBI, and it'll make you happy. Good pitching, too. Not only effective outings, but Chase Wright made sure that no one else in the bullpen had to put in any work on the mound. Nice piggyback effort between him & DiFelice. DiFelice threw 42 of 63 pitches for strikes tonight, a very efficient outing. Big innings... here we go: Nashville Top of the 1st Brandon Boggs singles on a fly ball to center fielder Jamie Hoffmann. Jordan Brown doubles (6) on a fly ball to left fielder Trayvon Robinson. Brandon Boggs scores. Jordan Brown to 3rd on the throw. Eric Farris doubles (9) on a line drive to right fielder Eugenio Velez. Jordan Brown scores. George Kottaras homers (4) on a fly ball to right field. Eric Farris scores. Mat Gamel strikes out swinging. Edwin Maysonet walks. Caleb Gindl homers (5) on a fly ball to center field. Edwin Maysonet scores. Taylor Green strikes out swinging. Mark DiFelice called out on strikes. Nashville Top of the 3rd George Kottaras singles on a line drive to right fielder Eugenio Velez. Mat Gamel singles on a line drive to left fielder Trayvon Robinson. George Kottaras to 2nd. Edwin Maysonet bunt pops out to pitcher Tim Redding. Caleb Gindl homers (6) on a fly ball to center field. George Kottaras scores. Mat Gamel scores. Taylor Green doubles (12) on a line drive to right fielder Eugenio Velez. Mark DiFelice flies out to center fielder Jamie Hoffmann. Brandon Boggs triples (1) on a fly ball to right fielder Eugenio Velez. Taylor Green scores. Pitcher Change: Mario Alvarez replaces Tim Redding, batting 9th. Jordan Brown singles on a line drive to left fielder Trayvon Robinson. Brandon Boggs scores. With Eric Farris batting, passed ball by A. J. Ellis, Jordan Brown to 2nd. With Eric Farris batting, wild pitch by Mario Alvarez, Jordan Brown to 3rd. Eric Farris grounds out, second baseman Ivan De Jesus to first baseman JD Closser. 18 PAs in those two innings. The Sounds are playing really well of late; this is probably going to be their best stretch of the season. I know shortly after I joined up with the Link Report crew, Mass Haas noted that he & Eric had had a tough time making the Sounds link reports interesting... well, the Sounds have been taking care of that lately, and it's been fun to follow. At this point, Nashville just has a very good lineup, even if it's constructed poorly.

When do we trade Corey Hart?
TooLiveBrew replied to paul253's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Per Cot's: limited no-trade clause (may block deals to 15 clubs) -
Brewerfan Poll: Prince Fielder's Defense
TooLiveBrew replied to And That's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
No way.Based on what? He doesn't read the ball well off the bat, he has very limited range, & he's poor at scooping the ball. Dunn & Giambi have the built-in advantage of simply being taller. -
Draft Pick Discussion, Rounds 1-5
TooLiveBrew replied to battlekow's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
It was only on Jungmann, and that was only Buster Olney really pressing Melvin to answer whether or not it was possible for Jungmann to see MLB action this year. A 1% chance qualifies as possible http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: YoungGeezy posted the link in reply #240 in this thread. Here is the link EDIT: For whatever reason, the link to the reply in-thread wasn't working. Linked to the post alone. -
I can't get over how awful our bench is
TooLiveBrew replied to brwrsfan's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
What if Lucroy went down in the playoffs with Kottaras as the backup? Teams would run wild on him. What if Lucroy went down with Nieves as the backup? That would be 3 to 4 automatic offensive outs per game. -
Brewerfan Poll: Prince Fielder's Defense
TooLiveBrew replied to And That's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I gave him a 3, which is relative to other MLB 1B's. He's bad, but he's not on the level of guys like Dunn and Jason Giambi I gave him a 1, because guys like Dunn & Giambi are about what I think Prince brings defensively. -
That's really unfair. He was an exceptional young arm, and pitched incredibly well -- 100.1 IP of 2.60 ERA (10+ K/9, too) at age 22 in the AL East. I swear some people are obsessed with how ESPN is the devil. I don't care much for ESPN, but sheesh. If Joba had been a Brewers pitcher, we would've been gushing over him, and rightfully so.
