  1. I can't think of the last time I saw a team dominate a game so thoroughly while its opponent held possession roughly 2/3ds of the game. Bayern just never really looked like they would win it imo.
  2. This guy is really going to alienate the fans with comments like this. It wont be long before the stadium starts to look like Cleveland and Pittsburgh where there are entirely empty sections. I sincerely doubt it, especially the first statement.
  3. I don't think anyone forgets that he's a FA after this season. But I agree he won't be back.
  4. Yeah, I think that's what it is GH. I feel so bad for Bush, he was always a pitcher I liked. But he just couldn't afford to lose a tick of velocity off the 88-90 range he used to operate in. And, as we've seen, he has... and he's about as effective as Suppan now. Has to be super-frustrating for Dave. It happened on such a fluky play -- talk about your bad luck. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  5. Zaun 6 for 25 (24%) Kottaras 2 for 10 (20%) Ouch.
  6. since it was a late change it does pose the question: Is there anything wrong with Rickie? That was my concern when I first saw the revised lineup. I sure hope not.
  7. Well, I'd rather see McGehee at 1B & Prince DHing, but this is the next best scenario imo.
  8. Yet another instance where Suppan seems to be a major roadblock in roster management. It'd seem to make much more sense to have Cappy up as the long man & another LOOGY when needed than keep Soup around.
  9. Hang in there Angel. Take your time & get this sorted out.
  10. Come on guys, it's not like Weeks has had trouble staying healthy or anything
  11. It just seems odd that if someone is a very good pitcher that you would want to change it. It's sort of like a hitting coach telling Jeff Bagwell to stop hitting from his goofy crouch. You don't coach someone to do it, but you don't change a (potential) future Hall of Famer who is doing it. As best I understand, Peterson's m.o. is to get pitchers working with deliveries that most minimize injury risk. While like you say, you wouldn't coach a stance like Bagwell's, it's not something that put him at real risk for injury either. The case with Vargas getting more movement on his pitches definitely illustrates that Peterson also works to try & improve stuff, but my answer to 'why mess with success?' is that perhaps he's seeing injury red flags. Just a thought.
  12. "best available candidate" As long as Melvin is hiring (or seemingly any GM, for that matter), it appears to be about a 99.9% chance that the person determined the best available candidate will just be another in the long line of all-too-similar, stuck-in-cliche-land MLB manager. It doesn't even matter much who the manager is, since they all seem to make so many similar mistakes. I'd love to believe that *this* time it'd be different, and we'd find that one perfect manager, but I just can't.
  13. I would rather have Vargas than Soup. But I guess pretty much everyone would, aside from the Brewers.
  14. Sadly, it's probably just because he hasn't pitched enough to 'earn' a label yet. He's just some unquantified relief pitcher still http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. He had TJ surgery in Dec. '03, missed all of '04 (this was all while playing at Notre Dame). He resumed pitching again in the spring of '05 at Notre Dame, & was drafted in the 42d round by Cincy in the '05 June draft. But Axford opted to pitch another year of college ball, transferring to Canisius College (NY) for the '05 season. The Yankees signed him out of the independent Western League (he was playing for the Melville Millionaires) on Aug. 11th of '06. They released him after the 2007 season, and the Brewers signed him as a MiLB free agent prior to the '08 season. I can't find a specific reason why they released him, and I don't see that he had to have another TJ surgery (esp. since he didn't miss any time aside from the normal '07-'08 offseason). I think I have the journey right, but could be missing pieces. 16. Please please please let the move be to DFA Suppan
  17. Oh, and I forgot to mention that Cutter Dykstra's walk-up music is some Miley Cyrus song. I don't know if he lost a bet, or what's up with that.
  18. There's also the possibility Zaun could be flipped to a contending team after mid-June for a prospect. Then, in essence, the Brewers would have purchased a prospect for whatever they'd paid Zaun to that point.
  19. BA & Rock have mentioned on the broadcast that Vargas/Peterson tweaked his mechanics, sacrificing some velocity for more movement on his FB. Whether they're right or not is another story.
  20. Yes (thanks). Seemed to fit with the way things had been going. If embracing the dark side is what it takes to get the Brewers righted, I think we have to go for it.
  21. There could be a bit of a McGehee/Gamel situation with Kottaras & Lucroy. I'm not sure what to think of it, but I'm pretty confident the Brewers will be getting good production from the catching position for the foreseeable future. I just did a double take re-reading what I typed.
  22. I think Kottaras has been a pleasant surprise. I agree. I'm really looking forward to him serving as a backup to or time-sharer with Lucroy for the next 3-5 seasons. Another really, really shrewd pickup by Melvin off the waiver wire. If he's gone as GM, is there any way we could retain him for waiver wire claims? I'm only half kidding.
  23. Because Samardzja is horrible. The kid played horrible all of last year, and has done nothing to justify being called back up this year. Ok, but... Bob Howry?
