  1. Given that his average fastball velocity on the season is 85.9, yes, he's doing it regularly. Not that he's blowing anyone away, but it's just kind of annoying to throw that phrase around when it's really not true.
  2. Bush wasn't stuck in the mid-80s on his FB until getting drilled with the line drive last season. He wasn't a flamethrower, but upper 80s is a nice edge over mid-80s. Also, I know you just made the statement to try & add emphasis, but he broke 85 on his FB as recently as last night (at least according to the stadium reading)
  3. Yes, Kameron Loe. Nothing this team needs more than to find out that he's still completely replaceable. Parra has been very solid in relief, and the Brewers need to find out if he can take another step forward.
  4. Who are some alternate options at forward you guys would prefer? (including mids that could handle forward duty) I ask from lack of knowledge.
  5. Sure he MIGHT turn it around for someone else, but how much longer do you wait on him here to see that happen? Given the fact that this team doesn't look like a serious contender this season, at least the rest of this season. If we are gonna have another lefty in our pen other then Stetter, wouldn't you rather it be Braddock? I like Braddock too, but like Toby noted I sure wouldn't want to arbitrarily sell so low on Manny. We wouldn't be able to get much in return for him, and he's exactly the type of arm this organization needs to take a chance with. So, if the choice came down to keeping Parra or calling up Braddock & jettisoning Parra for a meager return, I'd keep Parra. I don't think Braddock will just be a LOOGY (at least I sure hope he isn't), nor do I think of Parra as one. So there's really no reason they both couldn't be in the Brewers' bullpen. Suppan would have to be DFA'd, which I would not mind in the slightest... but something tells me there's still a slim chance that will happen.
  6. Why wouldn't you want to keep him around as a relief option?
  7. Alright. Now, c'mon Manny, and pound the zone. I give full credit for this move to Emperor Palpatine & my embracing the Dark Side.
  8. I have to say that it was pretty demoralizing being at last night's game. I've never been to a game at Miller Park where the crowd seemed less into it than that. If not for the back-to-back longballs from Casey & Corey, it would've been like being at a wake for the most part. As much as I love my Rickie avatar, I think it's time to go get some help from the Force.
  9. Macha is a conventional manager stuck with a pitching staff where nobody is capable of getting quick outs. Macha doesn't get out managed the way Yost used to. He just doesn't have the right parts to match the guy in the other dugout. This very succinctly sums it up for me. The bolded part is especially what I think is getting lost in the Yost recollections.
  10. And fan is not short for fanatic. This isn't the 19th century. Good lord. Let. It. Go.
  11. It really is a great point to ask what exactly does Macha add to this team? With most managers we can at least point to some positive attributes but Macha has none whatsoever. I really doubt that you can point to something positive with most managers. Most of them are basically identical, and are stuck on the same groupthink approach to managing games. Right off the top of my head I can point to two things Macha has done well: he has been very patient with Alcides Escobar, sticking with him as the regular starter at SS, and he has handled the catching 'platoon' very well. He didn't panic when Zaun started off slowly, but he's also been getting Kottaras a very healthy amount of playing time. Why exactly did Melvin only feel the need to interview Macha, randolph, and Brenly in the first place. These were three awful candidates to begin with yet Melvin felt that these were the only good candidates out there. That says an awful lot about Doug Melvin and his ability to find a good manager. I think that when you look around the league, you will notice that the vast majority of managers aren't really good managers. It's the strange reality of MLB. No GM seems to hire managers well.
  12. It's 2 guys, Weeks and Braun. Everyone's else's splits are pretty comparable home and away. It's almost looks like this stuff is completely random, doesn't it?
  13. The fans should probably be fired. We need someone to fire up the team, to show some passion!
  14. Once he has 2 strikes on him, he's a putrid 10 for 77. The vast majority of hitters are putrid in 2-strike counts
  15. You tend to be pretty pessimistic, though. I can't share that at this point. I think there will be at least two good SP arms to come out of the system in the next couple of seasons, which would go a long way to SOLVVing some of our WOAHs.
  16. Honestly Macha has it pretty simple for the 2-slot imo. Hart v. lefties & Edmonds or Gerut v. righties. Yet he still manages to put two of the worst possible choices there in Escobar & Gomez.
  17. Do we seriously need another thread for this? http://brewersfandemonium...u.com?topic=22240?page=3
  18. YES! I'm also looking forward to the UEFA final on mainstream US TV on Saturday http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Escobar, aside from the BB last night, was really bad. I hope him hitting 2nd is not something we see a lot of until/if the Brewers are well out of the race.
  20. Why would you trade an all-star type guy for a bunch of guys who will never be an all-star, its not like we were a few pieces away the pennant? Not that I think your qualification is really great, but Chris Capuano was an All-Star in 2006
  21. I can't believe someone suggested Joe Torre though. I have to believe he's closer to retirement than looking to jump to another team. Plus, you know the allure of those bright flashing lights in Milwaukee, WI would just have Joe Torre drooling I think anyone hoping to see Macha fired this season is going to be disappointed. He's just really not the problem.
  22. I hope Davis is alright. Like hawing said, given his history, this is pretty concerning.
  23. The better scenario would be to see what the Brewers have with Gamel and see if he will stick at 1B. The even better scenario is to see if Gamel sticks at 3B (which I believe he will), since McGehee is not good there. Casey should be the 1B imo.
  24. Going to the game tonight... not excited to see Bush, but I wasn't excited to see Davis either. Hopefully Manny Parra gets his shot in the rotation now, but something tells me Capuano will get his shot first. Because that would make sense.
  25. This is likely going to stress Jeffress out. Well at least we know he has coping techniques to help him deal with his stress. What a malicious, useless thing to say. I hope Jeffress can get back on track this season, because as TheCrew07 notes, his arm is absolutely special.
