  1. What this amounts to is the Cubs basically raising their ticket prices by 20%. Pretty shady move, and I don't like the precedent it sets.
  2. That Nordic Men's Combined finish yesterday was awesome to watch. Each of the first four finishers just collapsed to the ground after crossing the finish line. The medalists were separated by less than one second.
  3. Doing recaps on AFL performance for Rotowire lately? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Teams just seem to get a pass since the greed on their part is hard-wired into the system (min. salary for a player's first three-ish seasons)
  5. I really, really, really want Gamel to win the 3B job in Spring Training. Not just because I think his ceiling is really high, but because there's really not one hitter aside from him I want to see hitting second right now. I guess if I was forced to choose it would be McGehee or Hart, but I'm nearly 100% certain Macha would never do that because he needs to 'protect' Prince. Gamel is a perfect bat to hit second, I just hope he earns & gets the chance. I'm worried that Zaun or Escobar will be batting second, which would just not be a good thing imo.
  6. Not all players value those things. Fans in general value things like that far more than players do.
  7. I don't think Mulder's status was ever relevant in terms of whether or not the Crew would sign Davis
  8. Same here. I love the rivalry, but outside of that I'm definitely a MU-backer.
  9. PECOTA changed their projections... again. Link Now, apparently the Rockies will win 88 games, the Dodgers will be .500, & the Twins will go 80-82 in a weak AL Central. What on earth is going on at BP? This has made them look kinda bad imo.
  10. Orlando Hudson got a 1 yr/$5M deal... I'm really surprised Lopez hasn't found anything similar. I wonder if he's going to be able to duplicate last year's 1 yr./$3.5M deal now. He would've been a perfect fit for the Mets, if they had any money left to spend. Boras's strongarm tactics have really fallen short this offseason overall. I can't blame Lopez for wanting to move on.
  11. Awesome. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I noticed Leuer talking with Alando Tucker from the bench during the first half against IU. From the body language of the exchange, I assumed/guessed they were talking about when Leuer would return, but I have nothing aside from assumptions to back that up.
  12. Iirc the WBC rule is that if your grandparent(s) were of said country, you can play for it. Not sure about the Olympics' standards.
  13. Sorry... I wasn't posting that to try & prove you wrong or anything. I just hadn't seen him recently & your post got me curious. Figured at least one other reader would be curious too, so I posted the pic. I always forget how terrible NBC's coverage of the games is. Me too. I always get excited about the Olympics, but then as soon as I start watching the events I remember that NBC is worse than CBS with the men's NCAA basketball tournament. I feel like they show 8% of the events they could show, and spend the rest of the time telling us how important they & everything they're doing is. On a semi-related note, Chris Collinsworth actually found a way to work what a super-amazing golden boy Tom Brady is into his segment/interview with Apollo Ohno. I just about vomited. I even like Collinsworth as a NFL guy, but come on.
  14. I think Hart was a greedy pig for demanding more money when he was offered what was recognized by most was more than generous considering his production the previous year. I think he & his representation were very smart to recognize that they could well win an arbitration hearing. One thing the arbitration system does is get guys that payday they missed while posting very good production for league minimum. I really don't understand whose puppy Hart kicked.
  15. IU was terrible today -- hard to even really get excited about that win. I haven't seen an opponent of Bucky this season that was anywhere close to being as bad on defense as the Hoosiers were today. Kudos to Bohannon, though. He was certainly on fire.
  16. To the Badgers fan, sitting courtside, sporting the black t-shirt & 3 gold chains worn around his neck & outside the shirt... Really? Come on.
  17. http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/2010+Winter+TCA+Tour+Day+2+T74-DgFpDRTl.jpg
  18. It seems like there are a lot of arms coming up in the system that are 0-2 years away from MLB that could help fill out the pitching side of the roster on the cheap. That's the main reason I'd like to see the Brewers extend Prince -- I think there are enough spots that will be cheap (including position players) for the duration of the hypothetical contract that the Brewers could function well.
  19. Fair enough. I feel bad if you skipped the entire opening ceremonies just because of this, but it certianly is your option to do so. Yeah, it was definitely a personal quirk and/or overreaction to something that was, in reality, completely unrelated. Just annoyed me. I usually find the Opening Ceremonies a little boring anyway, no matter where they're hosted. The one exception was the OC for the summer games in China -- amazing. If I wanted to watch this games' OC, I'm sure I could find it online.
  20. Maybe they'll put some teams in the Sweet Sixteen. And they'll be proud of that, because they have low expectations.
  21. Should they cancel the games? I can understand being upset the footage was shown (I haven't actually seen it) but there are other events and the games are about a lot more than one person however tragic his passing may be. Of course not -- where did I say anything even close to resembling that? I just stated my own personal reason for turning off the broadcast. You don't have to like or agree with it.
  22. Principessa approves http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Oh, I'm absolutely with you on the ratings angle, jj. No question about it. I watched the Opening Ceremony until they interviewed Shaun White about snowboarding tricks. I mean, a guy DIED today, and we're supposed to enjoy hearing White laugh about his halfpipe tricks? I had to turn it off at that point.
  24. To me, the burden of proof should be on those who want to boo to prove that it contributes something positive. If it doesn't, what's the point in doing it aside from 'RAWR ME ANGRY!'
  25. Seems funny to question his intelligence when he won the case
