  1. #1KU & #2UK both lose, as does #11 G-town... Minnesota squeaked by Illinois at Assembly Hall, & New Mexico won by two points @ BYU. Some interesting outcomes today. Of course, the game to watch is Villanova @ Syracuse tonight. Not much talk about how superior those other conferences are lately. Pomeroy actually had Wisconsin ranked #4 heading into this weekend.
  2. I know it's pretty easy to find a given player's LD%, and his BABIP... but I wonder if, instead of just looking at BABIP, it might be more useful to look at BABIP on line-drives (which I'll call LDBABIP). Is there anywhere that provides either a LDBABIP rate, or the types of splits necessary to determine it? My thought is that a player isn't necessarily unlucky for having a low BABIP, but he probably would be unlucky if he had a low LDBABIP.
  3. From McCalvy's blog. Really reassuring to hear that Gallardo appears to be the smallest injury risk of the starters.
  4. Per McCalvy's blog, here's the official ST broadcast schedule: http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2010%20Spring%20Training%20Broadcast%20Schedule%20%28calendar%29.pdf
  5. Some really cool pics from John Steinmuller & Caitlin Moyer's blog... http://brewers.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2010/02/P1000527-thumb-500x375-1813921.jpg Salome http://brewers.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2010/02/P1000559-thumb-500x375-1813941.jpg Escobar http://brewers.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2010/02/P1000588-thumb-500x375-1813961.jpg Braun http://brewers.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2010/02/P1000690-thumb-500x536-1814751.jpg Dave Bush, dotted-up for biomechanics analysis http://brewers.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2010/02/P1000746-thumb-500x375-1815011.jpg 2010 Media Guide cover EDIT: Fixed link
  6. Ack, I was hoping that's not where he'd end up. So I guess he didn't exactly burn any bridges there.
  7. You're completely reading into it. There's no resentment in stating that you prefer one player to another. He even said "I hope he plays well if he is the starter"
  8. Adding to this point, the first Badger points of the game was a post up to Nankivil. He drop-stepped and dunked. Great move. I think Bo wanted them to get Keaton a touch in the post to start the game. This is really good to hear. Like I noted, not exactly good competition in Indiana, but still nice to hear. I hope Bo continues to work/feed Nankivil down low. Dont worry about rebounds, I believe Jordan Taylor led the team in the first half. It is what it is. It's not just one game, though. Travon Hughes has averaged 4.5 rebounds per game so far this season, Nankivil 4.8 (Leuer leads in Reb./game, at 5.8). Especially considering that Keaton was the only legit post player (size-wise) seeing regular playing time with Leuer out, that's just bad. Nankivil has been a very efficient shooter this season, and that's nothing to scoff at, but he doesn't consistently use his physical size to his advantage imo, and that could wind up costing the team come tourney-time(s)
  9. You often criticize others for being results-oriented... isn't that what you're being here? If Tbadder thinks Sveum is the better manager (not saying I agree or disagree), why should last seasons' results change his mind?
  10. I like to hear that, but I have a hard time taking performance against IU as any sign of true progress. Three rebounds? The Hoosiers shot 37.5% -- surely nabbing more than three rebounds was far from difficult. The four blocks are encouraging, though. Were his two-point FGs from the post? Jump shots? Imo Nankivil will really be needed to be a factor in the post the rest of the way (& of course in the postseason). If he wants to play like he's 6'2", I hope Bo finds a way to get some true bigs on the floor. I'm sorry to belabor the point... regardless of how it may come across, I really root for Keaton & want to see him play well down low.

  12. I'll third this opinion... and agree that he doesn't have a very athletic-looking body
  13. I wasn't able to watch any of the game until well after the outcome had been decided. I think by the time I was able to tune in, there were ~ 6 minutes left. I didn't see any of Nankivil's success -- did it actually come down low? Indiana is just terrible. That was like a preseason tuneup game v. Martyr State. Pretty embarassing.
  14. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet... Purdue's Hummel out for season (torn right ACL)
  15. Oh, I don't think that some of our righties getting time off is bad... just that he said "it tests the manager" -- is it really that difficult?
  16. The Dog Whisperer... I can't help myself http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Yeah, I thought the same thing... I'm excited too. I hope he's able to stay healthy & productive.
  18. I think to ignore errors and fielding percentage is ludicrous. Advanced defensive metrics don't -- but the way you often present a fielder as bad or good, based solely on fielding percentage, is an inaccurate method.
  19. The Brewers' starting lineup figures to lean right this season, but manager Ken Macha said Tuesday that he could end up with an entirely left-handed hitting bench. "It tests the manager, whether he can sit one of the right-handers down and get the left-handers in [the lineup]," Macha said. I don't like the sound of that quote from Macha... 'Sharp objects are fun to play with. It's fun to see if you can avoid gashing yourself'
  20. I hope Melvin doesn't need to see any spring performances to know that Suppan is not one of the 5 best SPs the Brewers have right now. “We’ll probably wait right until the end to determine (the rotation)," said Melvin. "We do have to look at their track record as well as what they do in the spring. You’ve got to be careful not to be fooled by spring training. We’ll look at their overall stuff, and health issues.” Link
  21. I hadn't seen any footage until tonight... totally my fault. This was absolutely on the coach.
  22. I agree with nate & straw. The thread title is really misleading, bordering on maliciously so.
  23. I had Extra Innings the past two seasons. I don't need E.I. anymore to watch Brewers games, but if I did I would go with MLB.tv instead. I don't have much experience with it (only watched a handful of games), but it seemed a lot better. You definitely need to have a fast internet connection & solid computer, but as long as you do it's a great option.
