  1. Ty Wigginton demonstrating the proper timing & form for sliding into 1B on an errant throw by Theriot. Unfortunately, Lee is tall & gets the tag down on the feet-first slide by Wigginton for out #2. Reed Johnson really misread a liner off the bat of Ausmus, but was able to recover & make the leaping catch in RC for the 3d out. 3-0 Houston
  2. TLB is reporting that he's heard rumors the Brewers may be trading for SF's Matt Cain. See, I can do it too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Rodriguez puts the Cubs down 1-2-3 in the 6th
  4. Houston down scoreless in the 5th. 3-0 Astros.
  5. Haudricourt really doesn't sound to have any good info on this. The only thing we know is that Ford wasn't in the lineup tonight. For me it's impossible to try & guess who the target might be.
  6. Haudricourt is now reporting that the Brewers may or may not have a deal in place with one of the 29 other MLB clubs. *rolls eyes*
  7. Cubs down in the 5th after a double from Theriot to lead off the inning. Still 3-0 Houston.
  8. Angel Salome is also missing from the Huntsville lineup... Great eye, GB12 -- sorry I missed that.
  9. 2 outs, man on second for the 'Stros after a sacrifice bunt by Rodriguez. Cra-Z just BB'd a man, and is at 79 pitches in the 4th. Fortunately for the Cubs, Darin Erstad sucks mightily, and pops up a bouncer weakly... retired 5-3. On to the 5th
  10. Cubs scoreless in the 4th, retired in order. Astros to bat.
  11. From the comments on TH's blog: "Gamel, Brantley, Escobar, and Gillespie are all in the lineup for Huntsville tonight" web.minorleaguebaseball.com/.../stats.jsp
  12. 3-0 Astros after the bottom of the 3rd. Houston SP Wandy Rodriguez singled to lead off the frame. After two outs, Berkman BB'd, Lee singled home Rodriguez, & Tejada singled home Big Puma.
  13. 2. Bush/McClung take over the long releiver/mop up role every 3-5 days I like this concept a lot, too. Unfortunately Yost's usage seems to indicate that 'Long Reliever' = 'Only pitches in blowout'. Totally defeats the purpose of a long man if you aren't willing to use him in a tight game where the SP got rocked for 5 or 6 runs in the first 4 or 5 innings.
  14. Great points, guys. Cameron is one of the Brewers that, if I were a betting man, I'd bet on to have strong (or at least stronger) second halves after underperforming to an extent in the first half. (Fielder, Cam, Bush, Weeks, Parra)
  15. I'm not sure about the 'by the rules' procedure a team or player(s) is supposed to follow, but the umpires leaving the field could be addressed relatively easily by just talking to them/alerting them to the desire to appeal.
  16. It makes no rational sense that 29 random ballparks should have any effect on how a person pitches. The only thing that can happen here is that it screws with the pitchers by making them skip normal starts and lose any routine they might have had. Also, how can one defend sending Dave Bush to the bullpen after what he's done lately? Great points, Skjelly. Does this mean that Bush can't even be used in the bullpen? Since they are on the road, he'll obviously do terribly, right? Well, see, um... Yost talked to both Bush and McClung about the decision and said it was met with "suspicion." I have just become an even bigger fan of both Dave & Seth. Sad when the players are clearly sharper than the manager -- that can't engender confidence in Ned around the clubhouse. Sometimes it seems like Ned can't stay out of his own way. This has always been my biggest problem with Ned. He manages for what he wants to see happen, not reality. "I'm trying to present an opportunity for each player that is conducive to his success." I do appreciate that Ned strives to do this, but as kramnoj & jeffyscott mention, he doesn't appear to fundamentally understand the way statistics are best used predictively.
  17. The Giants don't schedule the games, do they?
  18. Hart has been crappy of late. I worry about his lack of OBP skills long-term. But his fielding has been mediocre. Good range; but three awful game-killing errors No, your memory is of three awful plays. As you point out, his range is tremendous, and has easily helped far more that it's hurt us.
  19. Are the Giants the ones that scheduled it, though? Wouldn't that be MLB? Hey, that's the same entity that inked a deal with Fox...
  20. I was going to post that I thought the idea of platooning a pitcher... against a magical monster that appears only on the road... was a waste of time, but I didn't want to just vent on Ned. Now that I see I'm not alone, I will agree -- this is a moronic waste of time, not to mention the problems that could arise from saying, 'Bush will relieve McClung, and McClung will relieve Bush.' Yay even more idiotic & strictly defined bullpen roles!
  21. Have you tried cashing that check yet? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Always trust ESPN! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The way this develops will be interesting. I sure hope the home/road platoon of Bush & McClung isn't for real. Seth to the 'pen, Mota to Zirmucon VIII, Soup back in the rotation, & DiFelice up. That's my ideal scenario, anyway.
  23. The name of their debut album... Beach House/Basketball Court Sale
  24. Yes -- "in the field" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
