Cobb has had a really good second half. 3.13 ERA since July, & 2.56 ERA since the All Star break. Looks like he's missed some time this month due to a blister issue. But good to see him right the ship. Maybe the O's have a trade asset heading into the offseason.
Need to stick it to Nova tonight & get some revenge on him. I hope Aguilar has broken out of his slumber. Getting him hot again down the stretch would be massive.
I agree, Braun has been late a lot more on fastballs than I've ever noticed from him before. My human eyes & recollection aren't infallible of course, but I do genuinely see a difference this season.
No update on the broadcast yet, but Cool Hand Lucroy posted this earlier: Does Cain look hurt to anyone else? Looked like he tweaked his back early yestetday, and his swings tonight look pretty defensive....
You forget Baez has a few things going for him. Some legitimate some not 1. He is doing it as an infielder who plays multiple positions. 2. He has a very slight lead in WAR, home runs and RBIs 3. He plays for Chicago 4. He is exciting to watch I dont think 3 or 4 should matter but they will. Really number 2 is a wash almost. Especially when you factor in yelich's commanding lead in ops and all those stats. 1 is legitimate but I think Yelich has covered a ton of ground. In mind it would hard not to give it to the guy who leads in batting average and ops if that happens. Yelich has Báez at least matched on #4. Maybe their personalities are different, but if watching Yelich isn't flat-out exciting, then I don't know how to baseball anymore.
This video from the pregame dugout last night is funny, and at that same time I feel Lo Cain's reaction to it is also 100% accurate https://twitter.com/Brewers/status/1040754933501489153?s=09
Oh I had almost literally the same thoughts. My thought was 'this guy's going to be a manager someday', but definitely could go the TV route smoothly too.
He's done well pinch-hitting so far. If he can get comfortable with that role, he might come up with some big hits down the stretch here. All the really good postseason teams seem to have a guy or two that (at least that season) thrives in the PH role. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Domingo finds his stroke again, & can be that extra weapon off the bench?
Five pitchers had 51 saves in a season: Dennis Eckersley, 1992 Rod Beck, 1998 Jim Johnson, 2012 Mark Melancon, 2015 Jeurys Familia, 2016 Whoops, I didn't realize you could scroll to the right & see more of that graphic! Good call, clancy
He has an OPS+ of 69 as a Brewer and Villar is at 117 for the Orioles. How is Schoop an upgrade? I really hate what Stearns did at the deadline. I think he was referring to what those players had done for the Brewers, not what they'd done playing for a team on pace to lose 110 games and playing without any pressure. Schoop was a 5+ WAR guy last year. Villar had fallen out of favor in Milwaukee. I like that move, especially with him going into a contract year next year and Keston likely being ready after that. That's correct
