  1. We could score in other innings, frequently. Good point. This is the type of leading-edge analysis folks come to this board for.
  2. Brewers have only faced Lester once this season, way back on April 5th in Milwaukee. Lester went 6 shutout innings & the Brewers lost 8-0 (like the MLB.com graphic notes). Let's flip that script today!
  3. My thoughts there: Wow, Aguilar's going to head home? That'll be a close play.........oh......wow.....Hunter Pence has a terrible arm........ It's not the strength of his arm, it's how weird he looks when he throws and how awkward he is at everything. Like he looks like the kind of guy that would tell some random acquaintance about the time he messed up by planting tomatoes in his lab and cooking meth in his garden. It's also the strength of his arm...
  4. Don't forget their previously-unknown player on each side of the roster that seemingly wind up contending for MVP/CY awards every year or two...
  5. You are going to get on the guy that hit a 2 run bomb a couple innings ago? I took his post to be aimed at the team, not one player.
  6. This! Sucks to lose, but they didn't leave anything on the field today. Good battle.
  7. That was a good read. Fun to see a couple familiar names in front office roles -- “I give a lot of credit to our international scouting staff – in particular Taylor Green and Jeff Bianchi – who did a lot of work on him,” Groopman said of the two former Brewers big-leaguers who moved upstairs after their playing days ended. Green is a supervisor of pro scouting.
  8. After his first 3 games with the Crew (where he went a combined 0-12), his line with us is .265/.320/.441/.761. Not great, but certainly an upgrade over either Villar or Arcia, depending on who he's replaced in the lineup on any given day. He's hit well really since they came back home after the mid-August ATL-CHC-STL road trip. .323/.405/.645/1.051 since Aug. 20th. Need him to stay hot!
  9. I'm really looking forward to Gonzalez's start. Hope I don't live to rue those words. The talent is clearly there, & I choose to be encouraged that they're taking extra time for DJ to work with him before turning him loose in the rotation. I know he's struggled this season, but just last year he finished top 5 in NL ERA. This year he had a great first two months, an awful June, so-so July, and August wasn't pretty -- but two of his Aug. starts were quite good (7 IP & 1 R, v ATL & @ NYM). I hope DJ can get him back on track. His upside is higher than anyone currently in our rotation, & what a shot in the arm it'd be to add a #1 for the home stretch & playoffs.
  10. It's almost like the F in FIP is an important determiner of ERA
  11. The ERAs might be comparable, but he is not getting close to the impact CC had in 2008. That said, if he'd talk extension I'd at least have the conversation. Not sure it's a good risk for the Brewers, because I doubt he'd be open to as small a deal as about 2/$12M. If definitely be interested in re-upping him on a one-year deal if he's amenable.
  12. Rivalry, no rivalry, whatever. W today for the Crew in game #139, & that's that. Time to turn the page for tomorrow's game.
  13. http://i.imgur.com/q8NIg6w.gif C'mon Mother Nature, be our extra September callup tonight!
  14. An August line of .400/.442/.511/.953 (prior to tonight's game) will help a little bit. Stay hot Manny! He had a bad July at the plate but from May 10th (when they began a road trip at Colorado) up until first pitch tonight he's slashed .287/.340/.421/.760
