  1. OK, found it... for anyone else curious: "Guy-gecks" would be the lazy phoenetic 'spelling.'
  2. There will not be any "Vargas for prospects" type deals, unless of course he would have to be waived otherwise. Isn't that what's been discussed here?
  3. There is a lot of Brewer love in our league, so dealing a Brewer might realize a pretty high return. That's the essence of Moneyball right there - take advantage of what's undervalued... in this case, non-Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. One player doesn't have that big of an impact. You'd struggle to find a player that accounted for that many games over the course of half a season, let alone a few weeks of play. Sorry for the pun.
  5. Yea, we really don't need to re-visit the 'How catastrophically did Braun suck at 3B?' discussion.
  6. My dad went to the game yesterday @ Cubs. He mentioned that Hall looked awful at 3B... I know it's just one game, but still - not encouraging news.
  7. I'm just glad that "biographies" immediately followed "Michael Jackson quickie". Phew! I have to ask, out of respect for the man... is it pronounced 'Guy-jaxx'? Or 'Gih-jaxx', 'Gih-jihx', 'Jiy-jaxx/jihx'? Thanks in advance.
  8. They have revamped all the throwing, baserunning and hitting too. From what I can tell, the revamped baserunning is basically just like how it was re-done for The Show (obv. you can just use the 'classic' style, though). I, for one, am a huge fan of the throwing style that they've added. It's essentially the same as MVP once they started just making the college game. You hold an analog stick in the direction of the intended base/target, and have to release the stick when you're satisfied with how full the throwing meter is. Too little power, it's going to short-hop the target... too much, and you'll airmail the throw or hot-spike it at the target's feet. It's a pretty fun way (imo) to throw.
  9. Does that mean crack is like real-life Brewerfan.net? You guys talkin' about some free crack? http://www.msu.edu/~rozwado1/images/DC-freecrack.jpg
  10. Well, Ennder said what I was going to. Phillips, though, is a superior defender to Weeks - though I wasn't initially factoring that in, obviously.
  11. Career W totals are a nice testament to longevity... but then again, so are L totals. That's probably the simplest thing you can glean from W-L record - longevity.
  12. I dislike Scott Eyre slightly less now. (but seriously, that was cool) http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/photographer/56/5686_thumbnail.jpg The power of Shouse compels you! The power of Shouse compels you! You shall worship only one LOOGY

  15. brian is being modest. this is THE site for the brewers. i can't imagine a better source for all things brewers, or baseball in general for that matter. That's the best way to sum it up, imo. This site has taught me everything I know about baseball, aside from when I played as a youngster. Brian's the best dealer - instead of "Hey, c'mon - the first time's on me" ... it's always free! http://farm1.static.flickr.com/230/491716517_28178068d8.jpg

  19. Heck, I remember seeing that same stuff just this year or the end of '07, casey.

  21. Are the catchers ratings still ridiculously high? Last year, Mike Rivera was one of the top-rated guys on the team. The Show ranks/ed guys on a positional basis, too. As in, two players with identical ratings, but one plays 1B & one plays SS ... the SS will be 'better' It doesn't mean the SS's skills are better or show up more - just means that the game rates the overall player higher, given his value at a certain position.
  22. Baltimore has renewed Nick Markakis at $455,000, so now he's mad too. Cole Hamels wasn't happy that the Phillies renewed him either, and none of this changes anything. These young guys can go ... well, this isn't exactly the Political Scene, so I'll stop there. Waaaaah! I'm only making half a million dollars to play baseball! Waaah!
  23. My problem with James's game is that in what little action I've seen him play (probably less than 10 games), he looks like a shoot-first PG that has a terrible stroke. He's just not a very good shooter at all - does he do a better job being a distributor?
