  1. I like Gamel too. I also like Morales. I'd love to have them both. This. One should be good. At least.
  2. I wouldn't consider signing any reliever to that contract. It's a horrible deal. They took a risk and it backfired. Now they need to fix it.
  3. Apparently you and I are alone in our ARam hate. He is my least favorite player in baseball. At least Pujols has 3 MVPs when he watches a 350 foot flyout. As I said in an earlier thread, I almost started a riot behind the Cubs dugout the night he injured his knee in 2009. Not necessarily proud of it, but it was a joyous moment for me. All that said, I would quickly change my hate to love the second he donned a Brewer uniform. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. $12MM for an 8th inning reliever is a horrible allocation of resources. Trade him ASAP.
  5. And Braun at 10 strikes me as rather high. It was the worst defensive team the Brewers have ever fielded. The worst I can remember anyway. Not a plus defender anywhere except P and CF.
  6. this is exactly what i came to post. good day sir! And a good day to you!
  7. He had me worried that he was bringing yuni back. Thank god it was a bluff and that. Side note: my iPad changes "yuni" to "yuck". What can't these things do?
  8. I can't remember where I saw it, but I swore I saw some chatter about them DFA'ing him. I can't believe that'd be true. I sure would look into it if I were Doug.
  9. Sorry if this is being discussed somewhere, if it is I haven't seen it. Seems as though he could be had for very cheap. He's likely to make around $2.5MM this year. Seems like a good gamble for us. Any thoughts?
  10. It's a crime Raines isn't in. Great player. I'd vote for him and Bagwell. That's it for me.
  11. Yep. And I'm holding out hope he can revert to his 2010 numbers hitting-wise, which were pretty darn good. Edit: "Pretty darn good" is an overstatement. Let's just say I'd be happy with his 2010 numbers.
  12. Right. That's the confusing part. It appears that the Padres were able to prove it by using ST numbers. I admit I don't fully understand it, I was just providing something I found about it this morning.
  13. Can anyone confirm this. This would seem to make some sense in that I have not heard the possibly of being able to drop K-Rod anywhere else but on this board. My understanding is that if K-Rod doesn't make the team out of spring training, he can be cut for 1/6 of his salary. The Union would then file a grievance, which would have to be heard. The Padres did this in 2006? with Todd Walker and were able to prove that Walker wasn't their best option (based on ST numbers), and won the grievance. It's the only case of its kind that I'm aware of. http://riveraveblues.com/...ure-of-arbitration-7503/ Also not sure if the new CBA changes anything.
  14. Arby contracts aren't guaranteed, and teams can release a player before the end of ST for only 1/6 the cost of the contract. $2.33M is 1/6 of $14M. I did not know that.
  15. How does the $2.33M thing work?
  16. And if they trade him they'll be asked to pay for a huge chunk of his salary most likely. Glad I went to every playoff game last year as it's going to be a long drought before the next one...How do you know? The last reliever I can recall that accepted arbitration was Rafael Soriano. The Braves traded him to the Rays for Jesse Chavez. I don't think the Braves picked up any salary. They didn't get much in return but they freed up money. I agree. I don't think there's much chance he's a brewer on opening day. Not ideal, but not a total disaster. Not yet anyway. If he is a brewer on opening day I'll change my tune. I'm also hoping this leads to a McGhee DFA.
  17. You're paying for his future, not his past. What a horrific overpay. And really, he was never great. Good, not great.
  18. Amen. And he was a good hitter as recently as two years ago. Upgrade for sure and possibly a big one.
  19. That was '09. I was sitting behind the Cub dugout laughing at him. He and Cub fans did not appreciate my humor.I was giving him a standing ovation from RF. The only reason I remember when it was is because it was the first time I met my then-girlfriend's parents (now my wife). My father-in-law tells me every so often that he was convinced I was a good guy after that. Ramirez is one of my least favorite baseball players. But if he helps the Brewers win, I'm down.
  20. Wasn't 2010 the year ARam separated his right shoulder in a game in Milwaukee? If so, that could very well explain his off year. That was '09. I was sitting behind the Cub dugout laughing at him. He and Cub fans did not appreciate my humor.
  21. That lineup has 3 left-handed hitters in it vs RHP. Impossible. How is that different than 2011 when we only had Fielder and Morgan as the only 2 regular left-handed hitters against RHP? I don't think its quite impossible. I was joking. That would the most Lefties in a lineup (that are capable hitters) in forever for the Brewers.

  23. He has a lot more power than Green. I'd take a chance on him and let him battle it out. But I admit, I'm a fan. Wouldn't give up anything of major value.
