  1. Maybe a little confusing. What I meant was that if the giants said you can have him, you just have to pay the $22MM next year, I'd say no thanks. Immediately.
  2. I wouldn't take him for free.
  3. Well, if that's the case, then it makes a lot of sense for Oakland. I haven't seen a lot of Arizona games to be honest. I knew Crisp wasn't anything special on defense. As was stated, you can put Crisp in left and DH Cespedes I suppose. Just didn't seem to me that Oakland needed another outfielder. And Young makes a decent amount of money.
  4. I don't think it's that bad for Arizona. Young really isn't any good, so it's not like they gave much up. They didn't get much either, so it seems like a wash to me for Arizona. I don't get this for Oakland at all. I guess Young or Crisp DHs? Whoever the worse defender is (I honestly don't know, I think Young is better though)? The corner OF slots are locked up, and Young & Crisp make about $15MM combined next year, so DH is the only logical conclusion. Either way that's a lot of money for a DH.
  5. I don't understand the games played thing whatsoever. Its not as if trout was hurt. Makes no sense to me.
  6. 40 Trout. And it's not close for me.
  7. If Melvin pays Loe $4MM I will be extremely upset. I don't see any way he can do that.
  8. This is how I feel about it. Pretty cool, even if it's an older concept. Is there anywhere that lists winners of the so-called modern triple crown (BA/OBP/SLG)? Incredible accomplishment by Cabrera. I've said in the other thread that I absolutely think Trout should be MVP, but I want to be clear how great of an accomplishment I think this is. Just look at the list. All HOFers.
  9. What a nightmare. I just celebrated my daughter's 1st birthday yesterday and I can't even imagine the pain they're going through. Thoughts go out to them.
  10. 100% agree with the bolded. Don't agree with much else.
  11. I agree completely. I thank you for the writeups.
  12. Well, if you're going to use counting stats (not you, but sportswriters), then it's not a good thing. If he had played the first 20 games you could theoretically make his numbers 148 R, 34 HR, 95 RBI & 56 SB to go along with his .397/.561/.958 line. An inexact science to be sure, but would it make a difference to see the HR & RBI gaps closed and the SB & Runs gap widened to those voters? Probably. To me, of course it doesn't matter, because runs and rbis are largely irrelevant to me. I don't think he'll win, but I think it'll be a crime if he doesn't.
  13. I hope they don't keep K-Rod simply because I can't stand watching him pitch. For $2M for 1 year, of course it would be a good baseball move, but I'd still be upset because I'd have to watch him for another year. At any rate, I don't see him staying. I think he'll get more money than the Brewers are willing to pay.
  14. I think they're pretty much equal offensively, although I would give Trout a slight edge due to base running. Trout's defense makes it a joke to me. Also, I'm a closet Angel fan, so I may be clouded a little bit.
  15. Good point on Jackson, Reilly. I probably wouldn't sign him based on cost and compensation. As far as Karstens goes, I'd definitely take him if he came cheap enough. He's decent when healthy.
  16. I agree with all of this. Trout & Braun should win. Cabrera and Posey will. The Cabrera one is a joke IMO.
  17. Yep. Henderson, Axford and maybe Kintzler. That's the list for me. You can have the rest of 'em. Maybe I'm over-reacting but I don't want Axford back either. I'm tired of feeling what I did today and tired of white knucklin' it with him on the saves he does convert. He's a nice enough guy and I appreciate his "never say die" attitude but this is a performance business and he isn't performing. He's a fastball pitcher than can occasionally throw a curve or slider for a strike. That isn't going to get it done. I think we caught lightning in a bottle with him last year but he's too erratic for a position with a very narrow margin for error. I don't necessarily want him at closer, but I'd keep him in the pen for sure. He's too good to just get rid of when he's on.
  18. Yep. Henderson, Axford and maybe Kintzler. That's the list for me. You can have the rest of 'em.
  19. Ax was dealing. At some point you tip the cap. He just can't let that one hit beat him. Just frustrated.
  20. Well, it's been a while since I said how much I loathe the contact play. I really really loathe the contact play.
  21. This is more fun than last year I think. Maybe I'm just thinking that because there's no beast mode.
  22. I'm not sure how you could like how that's written. It reads like a 7th grade essay. The message was nice and everything, but I can't believe a professional journalist wrote that.
