  1. Players to be named always suck - but I'm happy with 2 1/2 players in Brinson and Ortiz Michael Brantley is holding on line 2............ Edit: I didn't even come in 2nd......... Also, Gio Gonzalez and David Ortiz would like a word.
  2. Stearns straight up murdered it today in my opinion. It's always hard to say anything with any certainty, just because we have no idea what other offers were out there, but I strongly prefer Brinson over Gallo. And getting an arm like Ortiz along with it makes this a much better deal than the Cleveland one. Again, without knowing what we could've gotten for Jeffress by himself.
  3. Oh thank god. Love love love this if accurate. Would've preferred Mendez to Ortiz but strongly prefer Brinson to Gallo. Woot
  4. I agree with this too. If we came out of today with Mendez and Bickford I'd be thrilled.
  5. I think a boom or bust guy is a good fit in our system right now. We have a ton of players in our system with a 'good player' ceiling, not really any 'star player' ceiling. Anyway, I think Gallo at worst is another Branyan, which has value. That's true. I was just really hoping for at least one major league lock in any Lucroy deal, and preferably a pitcher. I trust Stearns 100% though.
  6. Reddick is pretty darn good imo. They gave up a lot for rentals, but assuming Hill gets healthy (huge if), they're pretty good rentals.
  7. Ugh. Gallo is the nightmare centerpiece for me. Not because I don't think he can be great, because I do. He's just such a boom-or-bust guy. Scares the heck out of me.
  8. Fantastic return. Bickford was a dream get for me. As everyone said, at these prices deal the whole bullpen.
  9. Apparently the Braves inquired before acquiring Kemp. Would be interesting to know what those discussions were like. Sorry, can't link from my Phone, but it's on mlbtr.
  10. I will keep my lightening in a bottle a little longer. If the return is good I'd deal him, but I can certainly understand this view as well.
  11. Mendez Payano Jurado Tavares Guzman Done. Works for me.
  12. Yeah if he can stick at 3rd he's a pretty valuable guy. Troy Glass without good defense. That's a good player for sure. I'm skeptical personally.
  13. I mentioned to my wife at dinner last night that the Brewers had traded Lucroy. Her response: "oh". Clear implication: "I don't care". I mentioned this morning that he had blocked the trade and she just came right out with "yeah, I don't care". At least your wife isn't a Cubs fan. Deal breaker. Never would've been a second date, and the first one would've been short.

  15. I just said the same thing but Brinson not Gallo. That would be an incredible deal for both teams. Edit: I'd be pretty surprised if we traded Guerra though.
  16. Lucroy Smith Guerra For Brinson Tate Couple low level arms
  17. It's also possible that a team sees how little it took to get him and now re-engages Stearns because of it. Not likely, but possible.
  18. Wow. Did not see that coming. Lucroy is a strange cat. As a guy that was underwhelmed greatly by the return I can't say I'm disappointed. Cmon Red Sox, you need him!
  19. If Sheffield is involved I'm happier for sure. He's a reliever imo, but a high ceiling reliever. McKenzie and I'm thrilled, but that seems unlikely at this point.
  20. He slugged .345. That's terrible. I'm not judging one way or the other, but that number is extremely concerning. Young for the league for sure, and a catcher no less, but that gives me pause. I don't think that's worth ignoring completely.
  21. I don't think this is unreasonable. I mean, Mejia is having an ungodly year. As good as it gets. I just wonder what happened last year and don't pretend to know. I'm excited but worried for the possibilities. I wanted Zimmer pretty bad. He's Mike Cameron to me. Which is high praise in my world. Until I see different I'm optimistic overall. He had to be traded this weekend. The return would've been less this fall imo. The lack of a premium arm is disconcerting to me but we'll see.
  22. Not a fan of this deal but I'm no expert. Very underwhelmed. Highheat is coming off poorly as well.
  23. Eh. Not impressed if it's not McKenzie.
