  1. Wood broke his left knee a split second before his right... that was a balk (or a very good move, in this case, since the umpires didn't see it). ~Bill
  2. Why bunt or anything - let him swing the bat. No need to give outs away in the 2nd inning, or any time for that matter. Ding, ding, ding... we have a winner. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif EDIT: And that new WGN camera angle is quite possibly the coolest thing ever. The view on Wood's bunt was perfect... you could see the whole play develop. Mad props to WGN - I hope ESPN et. al. copy this and it becomes a staple of baseball on TV. EDIT2: Len Kasper is a phenomenal announcer. Brenly I'm undecided about. ~Bill
  3. How is that a good idea? Miller is slow and attempting to steal third, there's a left-handed hitter up, and he's bad. I hope that was a missed sign and not Nedley's idea 'cause that was one of the dumbest plays I've seen for quite some time. ~Bill
  4. Kasper just mentioned 3TO on WGN. What a stud. ~Bill
  5. I know I'm an ezsupporter, so why doesn't it show up? Go to "My Control Panel" and then "Edit Profile." Make sure the "Show ezSupporter Icon" box is checked (it's on the left side of the page). ~Bill
  6. Series Preview: www.brewerfan.net/ViewDai...portId=354 Go team. ~Bill
  7. The box scores that Nashville publishes are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Whomever is doing those deserves major props. Great coverage for the openers... if this keeps up and milb.com gets its act together, we'll be in for an info-filled season. ~Bill
  8. I'll try to grab some extras, too. Don't forget, Brian, that we appeared in a recent Huntsville Times article by Mark McCarter (a.k.a. one of my personal top five baseball writers, Major or minor league)... www.al.com/sports/huntsvi...282090.xml We're taking over the world! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ~Bill
  9. This is dumb... don't waste bandwidth. Closed. ~Bill
  10. Well I missed the boat entirely on Gulledge. That move is pretty shocking. ~Bill
  11. I gots no problem with putting Magruder in, but it would have been a fine opportunity to give Billy Hall some time in center (if that's still part of the plan, that is). I have a feeling he's going to be a Podsednik-style adventurer out there so it's important to find him some garbage time so that his mishaps don't hurt the team. Who cares, though? BREWERS WIN! Go cry into your pillows, Bucs. ~Bill
  12. ROTO-MAG-ROOTER! That's great... this needs to become his official nickname. ~Bill
  13. ... and every time someone hits into a double play, "case study # ..." on why a strikeout is better than putting the ball in play. Don't pollute the game threads with political/religious topics, DHonks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  14. And yeah, I hate Jack Wilson. Yay for ezSupporter-enabled one-liners! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  15. JJ Hardy is so clutch. Benito Santiago is so old. ~Bill
  16. Obermueller was up in the bullpen. I hate Tyke Redman. Not as much as I hate Jack Wilson, but close. Jim Powell is the best radio announcer evah. I'm such a lame fanboy, but it's true. How great is it to see the Brewers lineup and think "wow, they're not bad"?!? One through eight, we don't have any black holes today. It's weird, in a good way. ~Bill
  17. Good... we finally get to see the "A" team. I like the Jenkins-Miller-Branyan thing... the lineup is split up nicely between righties and lefties this way and Miller will get on base more than Branyan. Ned's using his head, not his heart. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif ~Bill
  18. The coverage we're getting for the Power is unbelievable. This is like Triple-A or even Major League quality stuff for a Single-A team... great, great, great, greatness. ~Bill
  19. batman, were Jenkins, Cirillo, and Moeller (and anyone else) there at the same time? I'm actually working on an article about this... I'm pretty sure we're setting several USC records this season. Cirillo was there from 1988-1991 and was a teammate of Bret Boone, John Cummings, Damon Buford, Mark Smith (of Brewers fame), and Mike Robertson. Aaron Boone played there from 1992-1994 and was a teammate of Bobby Hughes (of Brewers fame), Gabe Alvarez, Geoff Jenkins (who played from 1993-1995), Chad Moeller (who played from 1994-1996), and Jacques Jones. Jenkins played with Boone, Alvarez, Jones, Brian Cooper, Seth Etherton, Morgan Ensberg, and Moeller. Randy Flores was also there from 1994-1997 so he played with both Jenks' and Miller. Justin Lehr was also a Trojan and played there with Barry Zito and Jason Lane in 1999. ~Bill
  20. The Game Notes indicate that only Mike Adams will be making an appearance out of the pen. I think they kept Helling around just in case. ~Bill
  21. These updates are awesome, Patrick... you could do a paid newsletter and I bet you'd get a ton of people signing up. Remember that Clement and USC will face off against Washington on FCSP (Fox College Sports Pacific) this Saturday. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing USC/Clement. The Brewers have like eleven hundred former Trojans on the big league club so maybe Clement is destined to play in Milwaukee. ~Bill
  22. Yikes, this is ungood. Hopefully just a temporary thing... I'm sure Brian will post here when he gets a chance. Hang in there, all! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  23. Aaaaaah! Run away! Got your sights set high for the #5 overall pick, eh? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I was going to compare him to Gary Bennett, but I figured that was a bit of a reach. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It would be a very risk averse choice, obviously, but I just don't like the idea of taking a catcher with defensive question marks with that high of a pick. I'd much rather they take someone else entirely, a non-catcher, but I don't know who that player is yet. I still think they should have taken Sowers last year, BTW. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  24. I'm almost certainly in a small minority, but I like Teagarden better than Clement. Everything I've read indicates that he's about as close to Major League ready defensively as an NCAA catcher could be and could turn into Mike Matheny pretty quickly. His plate discipline is also very solid and I think he could develop into a productive hitter in the mold of a guy like Damian Miller. Clement is more likely to become an offensive force but he's also much more likely to wind up a below average prospect at another position (like Munson, who Patrick compared him to). I'm certainly not qualified to fairly evaluate his defense, though, without seeing him play more than twice. If the defensive question marks are more hype than reality, then he looks like a super hitter. Teagarden just has the polished defensive game and outstanding makeup that scream "sure thing!" to me, even if his ceiling is much, much lower than other potential picks. I'm in love with Alex Gordon, too, but I've resigned myself to hearing him taken in the top four. ~Bill
