  1. Ginter sucks. I don't care that he has better range than Wes, Helms makes up for it with his great arm. NOT. C'mon, DK... DP. EDIT: wait... thanks to Wes' throw, no DP. C'mon, Danny!!! ~Bill
  2. Nedley must have gotten my memo... Chris Macgruder instead of Brady Clark is a good decision, although in this case it doesn't matter much because neither will get to bat. DK time. ~Bill
  3. Thanks... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  4. Does anyone else picture Vic chillin' in the dugout kickin' back to "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta'"? Maybe wearing a Hawaiian shirt buttoned halfway down, some khaki shorts, dock shoes, and a giant gold chain hanging from his neck? Dude is a thug. Straight up. ~Bill
  5. Can I get a gigantic "YOU DA' MAN" from the Brewerfan faithful for one Mr. Victor Santos? You da' man, Vic!!! ~Bill
  6. Chris Coste would hit better than Gary Bennett, there's almost no doubt. Probably Mark Johnson, too. Its hard to get rid of a catcher when your pitching staff is so solid, but his two guys are Obie (bad) and Santos (I doubt Bennett is really responsible for his turnaround, as Vic has credited Mike Maddux for teaching him how to pitch and Yost for having confidence in him). So really, what does Bennett do well? He's not particularly good defensively, and he hits worse than most of our pitchers. It was a bad move to sign him by the Nugget Miner, no question. ~Bill
  7. So Dusty? Did I just miss about 50 pitches? I'm sure this was the medical staff's call, and perhaps Rothschild or Prior himself, but definitely not Baker. ~Bill
  8. Its hard to fault Stone for thinking Vic isn't any good... did any of us think he was good before he entered the rotation? His career numbers are nothing to write home about, and watching him its hard not to think that he has poor control. But we get to see him every 5 days, and we can appreciate how magnificent his stuff is. And how much better he's been about not walking people, despite still having some unexceptional control. I don't like Stone's style at all, 'cause I don't think its the broadcaster's job to predict the future, but he's obviously a pretty smart dude. At least he makes reference to stats, observations, players' histories, and precedent when making his points... unlike a certain some one whose name sounds like Phil Imploder. ~Bill
  9. That was so anti-clutch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Did I mention how much I love the G's? Ain't nuthin but a G thang, yo! ~Bill
  10. You guys just need to lower your expectations... he kept that one in front of him, and he didn't even bobble that last one. That's an *improvement*. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  11. This was the best inning ever. Seriously. Grieve and Ginter? I'm in love. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  12. Hopefully Bennett gets a hit tonight. I'll even take getting hit. ~Bill
  13. Don't worry, MB... the way Felipe Alou rides Jason Schmidt, he'll be lucky to make it to August. If he heads to the DL again and misses a few starts, I think Benny will be the favorite. Clemens will have to fall back to earth, 'cause he'll get a lot of sentimental votes, but there's no reason Big Ben can't force the writers' hands. ~Bill
  14. Wow, great report Greg. I wish more people would do this... I love hearing about folks' "at the game" experiences - they add so much to the meat and potatoes recaps. You'll have to frame that ball, for sure. A nice big "Cork" Cubs logo would be a great accessory. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  15. I don't care how pretty it is, a W is a W. No, its not. A "W" against the Cubs is a W! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  16. Thanks Dusty for not pinch hitting for Macias! Macias really showed him, too... lining a foul ball off his midsection. Too bad Dusty didn't swallow that gawdawful toothpick... and those wristbands? ARGH. I don't want to wish physical harm on anyone, but minor discomfort is okay, right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif How aboot Craig Counsell, eh? He's clutch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Losing streak over. Tormented existence replaced with blissful celebration. Good job, team. Now let's all go to DQ for some ice cream! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ~Bill
  17. Ninety freaking seven!!!! He's still got it in him. Eat your hats, Cubs' fans. You just got pwned. All is right with the world. Rejoice. ~Bill
  18. Holy slower than Gary Bennett, Batman!!!! Barrett needs to unhook that trailer. ONE MORE OUT. ONE... MORE.... OUT...!!!!! End it, DK! ~Bill
  19. That's beautiful, Brian.... 'tis a keeper. I............... STAND ALONE!!! C'mon DK. ~Bill
  20. Oh, and by the way... Grieve today: 0-for-0, 3 BB 821 OPS. Our other two outfielders? 744 and 731. Yeah, he sucks. ~Bill
  21. I've made an executive decision - Chris Magruder will now be Brady Clark, aka the #1 outfielder off the bench. He can do the Grieve double-switches and get the occasional start. Brady... you get to be the #5 outfielder. Congratulations. ~Bill
  22. Good to see all the Cubs' "fans" leaving early... they're the best in the game, I tell ya'. Just ask Steve Stone. ~Bill
  23. Think Dusty Baker told Mercker to throw at Counsell's head? Yeah, me too. ~Bill
  24. GO CRAZY, FOLKS... GO CRAZY!!! And that's why you don't question the Vizdog. He got five outs that inning... three of them Ks. Can I get an Amen, brothers?!? Pwned. ~Bill
  25. Moeller is the man at blocking balls in the dirt... he throws like Podsednik, but he can sure block 'em like whoa. C'mon, Vizdog!!! ~Bill
