  1. Yeah, but I'm not sure if you can upload files to a blogspot site. Anyone know? ~Bill
  2. Al, the myfamily site won't let you link to the image. The image that is actually being displayed is just "you can't link to this... boo!" If you have the ability to post the image somewhere else, then it should work. And if you're wondering, the reason the site prevents you from embedding linked images into another site's page(s) is because of bandwidth concerns. It's kind of lame, but I'm sure it saves them some cash. I actually got rid of my avatar to try and save some bandwidth on my site. If you can't host the file elsewhere, or if you don't know what I mean, just let us know. Can anyone host a JPG for Al to use as his avatar? Let us know... on behalf of Al, I appreciate it! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  3. Yep, nice work! Good picture, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  4. User: How to use Personal Photo as a User 1. Log in to your Control Center and click the Edit Profile link. 2. Under My Photo, type in or paste the URL to the photo that you wish to use (jpg or gif format no larger than 60x60 pixels is recommended). In order to use the photo you must have it on a web server or stored somewhere on the web so you can link to it. Do NOT attempt to add size attributes to the URL - this will cause your personal photo link to break. Click on the Save Changes button. www.ezboard.com/help/both...oto.html#a ~Bill
  5. Post what you wish, I'm only suggesting that there might be others that do in fact know the kid better. Definitely... and we'd love to hear from them. Stories, tall tales, little anecdotes, anything... we're all still trying to get a feel for him, and so the first-hand info that folks share is much appreciated. ~Bill
  6. BREWERS WIN June Swoon, June Schmoon. ~Bill
  7. They just said it again, so apparently "teat" w/5 "reach around" is kosher with the FCC. Color me surprised. ~Bill
  8. Wow... thanks Peavey. Jenkins just swung and missed at a curveball that hit him square in the left kneecap. Ouch. This would probably eclipse all of his previous bizarre injuries, but let's hope that he's OK and doesn't have to go on the DL. Yikes. Anyone else's heart skip a few beats seeing Jenks on the ground, writhing in pain? *crosses fingers* EDIT: He's going to stay in the game, I guess. Hopefully he's OK, but you'd think that he'd want to get into the locker room and get evaluated. This is where having 13 pitchers can be problematic, 'cause we're down a position player. Be OK, Geoff. EDIT: Early indications seem to be positive, as he is sitting comfortably in the dugout. Good to see. ~Bill
  9. I must have missed it... what happened, Peavey? ~Bill
  10. It's clear that Gardenhire has less than zero confidence in Aaron Fultz. If that's the case, why not get somebody else warming up? You don't *have* to bring in a lefty to face Jenkins/Overbay/Grieve, and it was pretty obvious that Lohse was nearly (or already) finished. Leaving him in to fail, *then* bringing in Fultz (who also failed), and then bringing in Roa (probably before he was really ready) doesn't make any sense at all. And predictably, it resulted in a giant, ugly, meltdown. Not good, Mr. Gardenhire. ~Bill
  11. Kinda curious to see red-hot Keith Ginter out of the lineup. At least Brady Clark's absence continues... 12. I can't let that go uncommented upon. Mike Adams, you are the man. First and second, one out... Joe Mauer, Luis Rivas, meet Mr. Adams. Now go sit back down. ~Bill
  13. Hopefully we can somehow keep Santos starting only night games. He's been brilliant again tonight... looks like Johan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  14. Don't worry about it, Rogers8Fan... we definitely appreciate your contributions. The great thing about an open forum like this is that anyone can post their thoughts... disagree with someone? Let us know why. Don't hate, appreciate! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  15. For those that (like me) didn't know much about Matt Guerrier, here's the tidbit I wrote for the Daily Brew Series Preview: The 25-year old Guerrier was recalled earlier this month from Triple-A Rochester and has made one start and one relief appearance. Claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh last winter, Guerrier (pronounced Ga-reer) was 3-6 with a 3.57 ERA, 58 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 80 and two-thirds innings for the Redbirds before being recalled. Guerrier was originally drafted in the tenth round of the 1999 draft by the White Sox out of Kent State University and was sent to the Pirates in exchange for closer Damaso Marte. 17. Who would you rather have playing rightfield... Ben Grieve or Jeff Liefer? Apparently Nedley's choice is Grieve. 18. Lose, lose, lose. That's three in a row, and that's not good. Johan + Juan + Joe = Twin Win Those three are good. ~Bill
  19. Agreed on all fronts, Geno... 'cept this, sort of: But for the longer term future of this season, for the greater good if you will, if tonight's latest ass-kicking forced Obermueller either to the pen, to the Indianapolis Indians or to his life's work riding shotgun on a garbage truck, then yes, I'm GLAD it happened. I'm not defending Wes' play, but I think we need to lay the blame where it belongs and that's not on Wes... he's pitching just like he has all year - not *awful*, like Rusch circa 2003, but *very bad*. He's trying, he seems like a nice guy, and he has shown the desire and ability to make changes (like adding the curveball to his arsenal). But he's just not very good right now. At the same time, he needs regular starts to improve. The perfect place to get that regular work? Indianapolis. And in defense of Wes, he has a degree in Commercial Recreation from the University of Iowa, a good school. I don't know exactly what that means exactly, but he should be proud that he got his degree. He's obviously a reasonable intelligent guy, and so I'm hesitant to get too personal with the insults. Again... not taking issue with what you said, just issuing a general "hang with 'em" to a guy that is, AFAIK, doing his best. He's just not very good, and we shouldn't be surprised when he performs poorly when given a start against a good team. He's got some raw skills, and I think he could eventually become a better pitcher, but for right now the Brewerfan Nation's anger should be directed at Yost and the rest of the management team for sticking with a guy who is obviously going to be a poor performer in the short term. Matt Wise was a good pitcher before TJS and has been a good pitcher for the Indians and Brewers this year. If Ben Hendrickson's not the guy, then Matty Wise is. Get err done, Team Canada. ~Bill
  20. That was the first run Dave Burba has allowed in June. He was great in April, he sucked in May, and so far he's been very good in June. His innings total is down, however, although this outing should set him up to be about equal with his previous two months tallies (14 and 11 innings, respectively). Not bad, old man. ~Bill
  21. First time this year, purposely bailing out on a game for no good reason. I think you've got a good reason, MB. I'm going to stick it out, just 'cause watching Johan pitch is awesome. God, he's good. It's like watching Ben Sheets, only left-handed, the way he dominates hitters. And as I write that, Ernest Lee Spivey just took him yard. 'At a boy, Junior!!! ~Bill
  22. Bruce: I can't control Ben Grieve's actual effort. But when a guy who sucks defensively also plays without any emotion, one can't help but observe what I observed. That's fair. I guess my concern is that there is no real correlation between a player's perceived effort, actual effort, and success... Andruw Jones is exhibit one that perceived "lazy" players can be great players. And how 'bout Jose Lima as someone who apparently cares a whole lot but is still bad? I don't like making judgments on a player's effort, personality, or other "intangibles" without something more substantive than personal observations from a distance. There's no way in hell that Ginter is worse defensively than Grieve. Give him a shot in right and DH Grieve. It's bad enough that Grieve plays as much as he does in RF when we play in NL parks. I love Keith Ginter, probably to an unhealthy extent, but I don't think he's a better right-fielder than Grieve. Maybe a similar right-fielder, but he'd have to really work at it to be even "OK" and that might hurt his offense. As for Obie, you'll get no argument from me. I thought his last start was going to be his last start. If it's not tonight, it might be time to check his locker for dirty pictures of Ned. I agree. Matt Wise is a better option *right now* even if Ben Hendrickson isn't going to be promoted. I have a question: Between being at work and getting my son ready for bed, I haven't been able to watch the entire game with my full undivided attention. But have we swung at a first pitch at all? Every time I've looked, one of our guys is taking a first-pitch strike. Meanwhile, the Twins are swinging at first pitches and killing Wes. Just curious. Here's the game log, pitch-by-pitch, with refresh turned off (you can just manually reload to look at it later), care of ESPN.com: sports.espn.go.com/mlb/ga...amp;full=1 Players who swung at the first pitch: - Overbay in the second - Grieve in the second - Clark in the third - Spivey in the third - Jenkins in the fourth - Overbay in the fourth - Hall in the fourth If anything, I think they are swinging *too much* at the first pitch. The only reason Johan's pitch count isn't even tinier is because we are striking out so much. ~Bill
  23. I'm willing to bet that Johan wasn't 100% early in the season. Or maybe more likely, he had learned to pitch a bit differently with the bone chips in his elbow (edit: I wrote shoulder, which is obviously wrong...fixed now). Once they were removed, his adjustments were no longer necessary, and in fact hurt his consistency. At this point, I can't see any difference between Johan circa June 2004 and Johan circa August 2003, a month in which he went 5-0 and basically made opponents look like little league bench players. If I was a Twins' fan, I'd be pretty relieved. Flash in the pan? Not exactly. Future Cy Young? Exactly. ~Bill
  24. MB: Ron Gardenhire described the first game of the previous series like that, saying that (paraphrasing) "it felt like we were down 5 or 6 to nothing". It feels like that tonight. Have I mentioned that Johan is really good? ~Bill
  25. LOL... haven't seen Geoff fall down on a swing-and-miss for a while. 'At a boy, Jenks... brings back all kinds of memories, circa 1998. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Johan is soooo good. Why can't he be ours? ~Bill
