JJ Hardy to Twins for Carlos Gomez
southpaw121505 replied to BrewBomber's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
The way I see it is that if we can justify putting Kendall out there everyday I can easily justify putting a 24 year old Gomez in the 8 hole considering his great D and the fact that he has some upside still offensively based off of age alone. People are acting like the guy is Hardy's age, he's still very raw. Although his track record in the bigs pretty much sucks offensively, he's too talented and young for me to decide there's no way he improves. The key to me is not having two Kendall's. We need a catcher to bridge the offensive gap from Cam to Gomez. If Gomez + new catcher can meet or surpass Cameron and Kendall, plus the financial savings, then I'm good with this move. I am terrified at the thought of Kendall back though. I'm not going to sit and argue about whether DM should have gotten more or gotten pitching for Hardy because it's done, none of us have a better idea or feel for what was offered or available. Can we at least wait and see what else happens with this new flexibility. What about this scenario. What could we sign Olivo for? No idea but I'm sure it would be for less than the savings we got from Hardy and Cam. So if we could sign him and still have a little money left over we'd have this: 7 Olivo 781 ops 8 Gomez 623 ops 1404 combined ops, Olivio may come down next year but I'd put money on Gomez being better than 623 based on age and NL switch alone. vs 7 Cameron 795 8 Kendall 636 1431 combined, and Cam and Kendall are not getting any younger. We'd get younger, same if not better defensively, our one black hole guy would at least be young, cheap and super toolsy instead of...Kendall. Plus whatever financial savings after Olivio's money. We'd still have one of Hart, McGehee and Gamel to trade for pitching plus one of Salome and Lucroy while leaving the other at AAA. Let's see what else happens before we deem this off season and 2010 season and epic fail. -
Are you saying he's getting worse?
-
Absolute brutality, he was not a threat at all. They even pointed out in the article how the cop closest to the camera was standing with his legs crossed at one point, do you think he does that if he fears the situation one bit? And then the baton hits after the cuffs are on, clear case of brutality and its pretty disgusting.

This is true but I don't know what you're expecting an agent to tell you about a roof from the ground. If there are any adverse facts with the roof then that's disclosed in the condition report anyways. If it's something more complicated then it won't be recognized from the ground.
-
I'm glad you recognize this, some people assume an agent wants nothing but the highest commission. When in reality we just want a deal you are happy with so you feel comfortable coming back to us in 5 years when you sell, or when your friends or family are looking for a realtor you are likely to refer us. If I can expand my sphere and more potential deals come of it down the road, I'm not worried about a "smaller" commission now. Most things they would otherwise be telling you would be caught by your home inspector, just for the record. This is correct. Most agents aren't going to say much about a roof because they aren't the ones climbing on it. Just like a home inspector doesn't tell you what contingencies to put in the offer or what to counter, etc.

Pick me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I know this is an old thread but there are a few things I'd like to touch on here. we've used a couple guys over the years, and other than pick up a commission, they did little. Also, I'd look for a buyer's specialist, as they won't have 20 houses on the market to be fielding calls about. Come on, seriously? We've used a couple of guys over the years=guy agents wont work as hard? And there is no such thing as a buyer's specialist, only agents that don't have listings. You want an agent that works both sides, and good ones it won't matter how many listings/clients they have, they will take care of you. Not much too add other than there's no reason for a buyer to use a real estate agent. They are getting paid by the seller and their motivation is to sell homes in their inventory, not to find the best house for your needs. You are misinformed my friend, when I'm working with a buyer I could care less who listed the property they buy, I want to find the best one to fit their needs. You think I want to waste my time showing inferior homes just because they are in house? I make the same either way. I also think you are confused on the "paid by the seller" topic. Agency laws are a bit funky, so you aren't the only one confused on the topic. If you sign a buyer agency with an agent, then he is working in your best interest, you are his client. Referrals account for so much of our business, you can trust me when I say my one and only goal is to make my clients happy, that's how my phone keeps ringing in the future. You may have had a situation where you were working with an agent but you didn't sign a contract, in that case that agent by law has to work in the sellers best interest and is considered a subagent of the listing broker. So even though you had lunch with this agent, he showed you 20 houses, he CAN'T offer you client level services. Some people get afraid of signing a contract right away because what if you don't get along with the agent? I like to offer a one day contract, almost as a trial run so they can see how I work. That way if they happen to fall in love with a house I can represent them as their agent and not as a subagent. Even if you sign a contract later, you have to work under the conditions that you were in when you saw the house with them. Your agent should be explaining the difference to you between customer and client. The other thing is negotiating. I'd bet you my car that I can get your offer accepted for lower than you can, there's a lot more to an offer than a number. Do you really think you can get the same price negotiating on your own against a listing agent as opposed to having an agent represent you?

I had a weird experience just yesterday..I woke up feeling a little under the weather and by that night I was completely miserable, high fever and bad body aches, sore throat, no vomiting. I was planning on going in this morning, but I woke up feeling a lot better, not 100% but better than last night. It scared me how quickly it went from initial symptoms to bad and then was strange to me to wake up feeling better already.

I saw this on facebook the other day, my friend's wife is related to him. -
crap..I have to play tomorrow(Thursday) night. I'll be out of town this weekend, going to see the Crew in St Louis. Not the big game we were hoping for when we bought the tickets, but should still be fun to see the stadium.

I try and play realistic and not play cheesy, same play over and over is what I consider cheesy. I don't really know what the issue with wr screens is? I barely use them and don't care if someone does against me, again, unless they do it every play that's just not fun. No huddle I think is fine as long as you don't do it every drive, teams use no huddle in real life. I've also noticed no huddle wears out our wr and ol pretty fast so I don't no that it's that big of an advantage or anything.

I'd love to take a shot on Harden, Bedard or Hudson, not as high on Meyers.

The future of Jeremy Jeffress
southpaw121505 replied to twobrewers's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Yeah, I second Paul's thoughts. The fact that he smokes pot doesn't even bother me, I think players that drink are hurting themselves more when you consider hangovers and added calories an athlete doesn't really need to keep his body working at an optimal level. The point is that it's against the rules and by doing it he risked getting caught, and he got caught, and he's missing valuable development because of it. -
Man I hate playing against the computer, I was tied 10-10 with the ball in field goal range and Pierre Thomas fumbles. Jets, with Kellen Clemens(?) in take the ball all the way down, after my linebacker drops an easy interception, and kick the winning field goal, great

I joined, I was so tempted to take the Lions because Calvin Johnson is such a freak of nature and Stafford has a cannon..but I copped out and went with the Saints..me and you play this week Stout, let me know when you want to play. er, no, you already played the Saints...right?

I'm wondering the same thing, I'll be leaving the Brewer game to watch it and hoping to find a place close by. I know Romine's plays them all, and Bootleggers downtown

I'll play if it's not too late.. psn- tootall21

Wow I just had a really long post get lost because I wasn't signed in. oops I'll try and sum it up. Use the link Nez posted and the number you come up with will be your maintenance number I talked about. That's the number of calories you should eat a day to maintain your current weight. Cut 500 to lose weight or add 500 to add muscles. You can use 20% instead of 500 if you want. Eat balanced meals. Get a good protein at every meal. Carbs and fats are your energy, some say do carbs morning and day and fats at night but for now just focus on eating the right foods and eating every 2-4 hours. Protein is important to have if you are working out and eating at a caloric deficit. It will help you at least maintain the muscle you have, and you will probably still gain muscle at first if you are a beginner even eating at a deficit. Good proteins: -skinless chicken breast -lean ground beef, i usually go 93/7, ground chicken and turkey are also very lean -seafood- salmon, tilapia, tuna -eggs or egg whites -protein powders, look for whey, casein, or some with both. Whey is fast acting, good for post workout, casein is slow, good to keep steady in the body -cottage cheese Carbs, try to focus on complex carbs. They digest slower. Examples: -long grain brown rice -sweet potatoes or yams -whole wheat pasta -whole what bread -oatmeal -veggies, try and eat as often as possible, high in nutrients and low in cals, make you feel full Good fats: -Olive oil -nuts- almonds and pecans are my favorite -natural peanut butter- try smart balance, tastes like normal pb to me -some sat. fats from meat is okay, but not a lot. Never trans fat. Ever. Most foods with trans fat have no nutrients so you eat them and feel full but feel hungry again because you didn't get nutrients your body actually needs with your food. I posted an example of a day of meals for me, if anyone wants to see it I'll post it again. I know it's hard to try and find good foods to eat 6x a day, but it can be done. School, work, kids, social life, etc all make it difficult but trust me, it can be done. I'm only 24 and have a lot of things keeping me busy and a lot of bills but if you care enough to get your diet in check you can do it. I think people would be amazed at how satisfied and energized you feel once you eat clean. Once you start to eat clean you will find yourself looking forward to and craving healthy options like fruit, nuts, cottage cheese, instead of chips and fast food. That's the thing that shocked me most. I used to eat like crap, fast food all the time, junk food, whole frozen pizzas. Now I look forward to fruit because its so sweet, and your cravings for crap disappear once you stop eating crap, faster than most people realize. Another thing to remember is that if you workout, eat something right after. I usually take a whey protein shake and a banana. Shake because liquid disgest and absorbs into muscle faster and banana because its a simple carb and the insulin spike allows the protein into the muscle easier. This will help reduce the soreness you feel from working out. An hout after this eat another meal with complex carbs and protein. Rice and chicken, lean burger with whole wheat bread or bun, spaghetti with ground turkey/chicken and whole wheat pasta, etc.

Good job man, that's awesome. In the last 3 weeks I've went from 18% to 15% body fat. I lift 3 days a week. The other day I do cardio, one low intensity day, one medium, and one high. You should try and mix in some high intensity cardio..It keeps your metabolism boosted much longer AFTER you work out. Right, but most people will take "eat fewer calories" to cut out meals altogether. That's not healthy. I agree, maybe my message was jumbled but I did say you should eat every 2-4 hours so I'm definitely not recommending skipping meals. Eating every few hours keeps your body using the food as fuel and not storing it as fat. It also makes it a lot less likely that you binge out at your next meal. Another thing, I never actually said eat fewer calories than you do now. I said find your maintenance needs and eat less than that. People who starve themselves trying to diet are hurting themselves by messing with their metabolism. Not to mention, most people find it difficult to actually count calories for everything they eat. It all depends on how serious you are about being in better shape. If you don't care enough to know what you're putting in your body then fine, but you can't complain when you don't get the results you want. It's not easy, it takes work outside of the gym to get in great shape. It also really isn't that hard to keep track of what you eat. I tracked my calories for a few weeks and now I don't have to because I know what's in most things I eat. It's not for everyone, and for people who don't care enough to take the time then I respect that, you can spend your free time any way you want. I just get peeved when people look for the magic bullet when really the recipe is quite simple. Dez laid it out. Eat at a deficit and workout. If you're one of those people who's extremely self motivated, where you can go to the gym and cruise through sets, then that's great for you. I, on the other hand, get bored quickly. I don't get bored because I increase my weight each week slightly so I find it as a challenge that I look forward to. You will never reach your potential if you need motivation from an outside source.

Why on earth would you work that hard just to eat like crap and minimize the results? Of course you will see improvement if you go from not working out or not having a good gameplan to doing these workouts, doesn't make it special compared to something simple like I suggested. I guarantee I could post you a specific plan and in 90 days of you stayed true to it you'd see improvements, even if you ate the same. You won't maximize it though unless you combine consistent diet and consistent exercise though. By the way, why are you paying a trainer that most likely knows less than you can find on your basic fitness/bodybuilding forum for free? Eating less isn't really a good option - eating more good stuff and less bad stuff is a better option. In the end that results in eating fewer calories which is how you burn fat. It's simple science, you take in fewer calories than you burn and your body is forced to use fat stores as energy. Like I said, find your daily maintenance needs and cut out 500 calories or up to 20%. A simple rule of thumb is to multiply your body weight by 15 and that's your maintenance number. The number of calories you'd need to eat in a day to maintain current weight. Multiply by 12 or 13 to find the number you should use if you want to lose fat. For example, you weight 200 lbs: 200*15=3000 for maintenance 200*12=2400 for cutting weight So you'd eat between 2400 and 3000 calories a day, but not to go below 2400 because the last thing you want to do is slow down your metabolism. That's a really simplified way of finding those numbers, there are other formulas that factor in age, height, weight, activity level.

I said 2 posts above this that I'd take Detroit.
-
When do we plan on starting this? I'll take Detroit
-
Exactly, that's the hardest thing for people to grasp. If you really want to lose weight and/or get in great shape, it starts in the kitchen. You have to be very consistent with what you eat. If you're really serious about it, you can figure out how many calories you should be eating a day and then eat 15-20% below that EVERYDAY. You don't want to eat less than that because it just messes up your metabolism and when you do eat you tend to store more of it as fat because your body enters a starvation mode. Eat every 2-4 hours, but something healthy. Even at work, it takes time and planning but you can't complain about not losing weight if you don't take every aspect of it seriously. As far as the p90x, i've heard some say its pretty good but I just don't think its worth the money. Spend that on a cheap 24 hour gym or buy a cheap bench and bar and throw it in your garage or basement. Don't do machines. Base your workouts around bench, squat, deadlift, overhead press and rows. All compound movements so they hit more than one muscle and promote more muscle growth/fat loss. Don't do a curl ever again unless you are a bodybuilder or at 10% body fat. I could go on and on about dieting and exercise if anyone cared enough to know more. Most will ignore this and keep looking for the magic bullet, it's not that complicated though, especially for beginners. Weights 3x a week, cardio 3x a week, rest the other and eat at a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

Absolutely, I'd make 3 separate moves similar to those and hope for the best. I'm looking for 3 young arms, at least one being a rotation candidate next year if not 2. Hardy, Hart, and McGehee. I like all 3 guys but we need pitching more and have the offense to fill in the gaps. Lopez is kept. Weeks to RF(or even Gamel). Cameron is kept for a year. I'm either signing a full time catcher or one to split with Rivera. I think that is a good offense with 3 new arms, it just depends what we can get back in those 3 moves. One team off the top of my head that makes sense as a trade partner would be Baltimore. They have some arms that are close and could use any of those guys. Maybe they would want Hardy and McGehee. Mora expires and Izturis only has one year left at 2.6. Both ops under 650.
