  1. I sent some things out in September.
  2. I've recently been receiving some things I sent to the Brewers to have autographed near the end of last season. It looks like they held them until spring training. Former Brewers Jenkins and Miller came through.
  3. I think the Brewers can make more money by having the team wear original Brewers uniforms instead of the '82s for a while on turn back the clock and retro nights. The fans have their '82 stuff and if they see the team in the original Brewers uniforms they will buy original Brewers hats.
  4. I don't think there is anything to the rumor but it might be better for attendance due to more premium games. Twins, White Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, sometimes Cubs.
  5. Is it really that hard to find a defensive catcher when you disregard offense? Kendall has a reasonable chance of being a disappointment both ways (the ravages of age resulting in his Oakland 2007 OBP combined with his usual arm). I don't think defensive performance fluctuates as much as offense. Catching defense will probably be more important than the number of pitches the catcher takes. It will be nice to see Kendall try to wear out pitchers but that entertainment value will probably be outweighed by seeing the opposition steal at will.
  6. That solution to equalizing the draft sounds good, but the MLB player's union is the strongest and they might not want to bargain away any aspect of the free market for more guaranteed money when revenues are going up fast.
  7. An expensive draft pick, on average, might bring more wins than a quality utility infielder with the same initial expense. I suspect that peer pressure among owners to keep the price of draft picks in line is the difference in some decisions.
  8. Kendall may be run out of town, first by base runners, then by fans.
  9. Now that the major league club is so popular maybe there's enough surplus good will to support a strong minor league affiliate in Wisconsin. The facility in Beloit seemed kind of recreation league level. Maybe they could find a better one somewhere.
  10. Cordero (3 mil projected attendance lets Brewers compete) veteran free agent Parra McClung Shouse Capuano inexperienced reliever acquired for Turnbow Starters Sheets Gallardo Villanueva Suppan Bush
  11. I'm sorry you got so upset by my post. But I think one or more people who showed up near 5:30 did get an autograph. Near 5:30 some people who hadn't been in line did get in the front of the line despite the fact it extended to the parking lot. Some people, as you know, also ran by people in line to the top of the stairs and got in line there (where an usher should have been posted). So it was quite possible to show up near 5:30 and get an autograph if you didn't respect the line.
  12. I'm trying to explain that what you wrote yourself accuses you of cutting in line. I just quoted you. I don't doubt for a moment it was a typo. I was in that line and it is my place to call out the people who showed up at the last minute and cut in line. Take the trouble next time not to identify yourself as one of them.
  13. You couldn't get a Prince autograph without cutting if you showed up at 5:30 like you said.
  14. You accused yourself of cutting in line. I didn't type that you showed just as the the gates opened and got a Prince autograph. You did. Don't accuse others of low behavior when the problem is your bad reporting.
  15. i was in the prince line and barley got him, got there at 530, absolutly ridiculous, I am never going for Fielder's autograph again, and if things continue to get that bad, they will have to stop autograph friday's, bandwagoner's ruin it for everyone. People who get in line at 5:30 and butt ahead of people who have been waiting since 3:30 are the ones who will ruin autograph Fridays for everyone.
  16. The Milwaukee pentathlon?
  17. I'd like to enter the drawing. Thank you for your generosity.
  18. Spending money is the mantra of the casual fan, I hear it all the time from people in Green Bay who think that Suppan is the reason the Brewers are 14 games over 500... Defending a minimum payroll from a team with revenue sharing and a new stadium is something you hear all the time from gullible fans. Some of the "bad trades" you are referring to are really just giving away young stars like Aramis Ramirez because the Pirates owners wanted to pocket the revenue sharing instead of win games. It is no coincidence that the Brewers are winning with a mid-level payroll. With the Pittsburgh model Sheets and Jenkins would not be on the team.
  19. The Pirates were the eighth most profitable team in MLB last year according to Forbes. It looks like they're not making a good faith effort to use revenue sharing and the new stadium to improve the team. I think it would be foolish for fans not to speak up. www.forbes.com/lists/2006...ome_1.html Here's an article on the protest from The Biz of Baseball "Pirates Fans Protest Tonight Created By Ownership"
  20. Do you think tickets will be very available outside the stadium because of the forecast low of 23 degrees despite the bobbles and the Cubs?
  21. According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, it's possible the Padres will acquire Geoff Jenkins to play left field. The Brewers would eat some of the $7.5 million they still owe Jenkins in order to move him. Still, the Padres don't have a lot to give up in return. This is one trade possibility in which Scott Linebrink's name should not surface. Source: FOXSports.com rotoworld-jenkins For now, the Padres plan to go with Terrmel Sledge in left field while using Jose Cruz Jr., a switch-hitter, against certain left-handers. However, a trade for Brewers outfielder Geoff Jenkins remains possible. msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6365160 I think Jenkins could have a good year. I hope they get something for him if they have to pay some of his salary.
  22. I've read that he's better in left.
  23. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel believes the Brewers have a deal in place that would send Kevin Mench to Baltimore for Rodrigo Lopez in the event the Orioles fail to sign Luis Gonzalez. Mench for Lopez is an old rumor, of course, but it sounds as if both teams have revisited it. That would seem to mean that talks between the Phillies and Brewers regarding Jon Lieber have fallen through. www.rotoworld.com/content...?sport=MLB tinyurl.com/yx8dzg
  24. Al Gore never said he invented the internet. I blame Rush Limbaugh for your dumb political remarks.
  25. tinyurl.com/yjvao3 Church angered some Nationals officials when he declined to play winter ball in Mexico, where Bowden wanted him to work on hitting off-speed pitching. Church's agent, Jeff Borris, advised against it. "He had nothing to prove down there," Borris said Monday. "All his statistics add up to one fine season. He needs someone to give him 500 at-bats [in a season] and I think we'll see what he can do."
