  1. My problem, not yours, but just reading these ideas makes me angry. I know it's a game of "what if" but it still bothers me to even suggest it ; ) Part of it is because I still hear things like this from various people, even some in the media to one degree or another. But I'll play too. Promote Brinson first, then sell the entire Sky Sox organization to the Dodgers for Kershaw and Urias. The stadium, uniforms, concessions, players, coaches...everything. Throw in Garza as the icing on the cake.
  2. Not that it really matters I guess, but he never said it doesn't make sense or is not a good route.
  3. None of us knows why Nieuwenhuis got so much playing time. I have my own theory, but that doesn't make mine or anyone else's absolutely right or wrong. That interview with CC above does not address it either, other than the general answers Managers and GMs always give. Regardless, how Nieuwenhuis was used has so little to do with whether CC is and will be a good Manager for this team. Stearns knows way more about what happens behind closed doors than any of us do, so I'll defer to his judgment on this. With that said, in general, I really see no point in extending a Manager early. But if that's what they decided, fine, I'm not upset by it either. A case could be made that CC needs to perform to get a new contract, and that's actually a good example to show the young players.
  4. Yea, I would feel better if I really believed the problems with this team are mostly due to injuries on defense. I want to believe that, but I don't. The regular starters have made way too many mistakes- it's not just the backups. Textbook example, Burnett getting fooled on a simple halfback pass for a TD. Special Teams are usually a good indicator of how a team is coached. Missed extra points, muffed punt, giving p a KO return, etc. Worst of all, professional football players not knowing how to properly down the ball inside the 5. And don't get me started on these pooch kickoffs. Stop trying to be too smart, just kick it out of the end zone every time. Tried that last week, went for a TD. Tried it again this week, returned to the 40. That kind of stuff, MM has direct control over. Most of all, this team is not playing inspired, smart football. In all phases of the game. But I'll say again, TT has every bit as much to do with this as MM. Too many 1st round busts, and most of the rest have been mediocre. Not even finding those late round gems anymore that become great players. The entire roster is really mediocre.
  5. Hate to break it to you, but the Brewers don't have a #1 (or #2) yet. Someone has to be opening day starter, and it means nothing.
  6. Cooper will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft, really doubt he gets added to the Brewers 40 man. Not high odds another team would take him, but you never know. Also, no, they don't need a LH power bat in Milwaukee next season, and they certainly don't need one in CS.
  7. This trade is growing on me. First, yea, we have to acknowledge Braun needs to approve. No idea other than my gut, but I have a feeling he would not approve. Just seems like it's either Cali or Milwaukee for him at this point, would not be surprised if he's taken Miami off his list at this point, or will. With that said, it's all about the quality of prospects. If they have to take on Panda, fine with me. Braun should get back 2-3 really good prospects by himself, no need to thrown in Thorny. And knowing DS, that's how he's looking at it too.
  8. This is encouraging.
  9. Thanks for the effort! Begs the question, why would Boston give up top prospects for Braun when they can just sign a very similar player off the street?
  10. Can Suter play 3b for a couple years? Two agendas WHOA SOLVVD
  11. You would think after those five, priority would be for Wang and Coulter. Someone would draft Wang for sure. Coulter maybe but he may not last a full season on someone's roster. Cooper, Wren, M Diaz would all be nice to protect but lower priority than those other 7.
  12. Well, I advocate bringing in anew GM as well, so there would be player changes as well. You're right, we're spoiled. But I'm an older guy who remembers 20 years of suckiness. So when I see 30ish years of Favre/Rodgers and only two SBs, yes, I see this as a tremendous wasted opportunity. Losing multiple playoff games at home, coughing up a SB appearance in the Seattle loss, getting killed at home last year by the Lions and Bears, now this season's nonsense. At some point it's time to say this regime has run it's course, and it's worth trying something new.
  13. Works both ways. If Nelson doesn't catch a somewhat lucky TD (ball went right through defenders hands) and the Colts don't let their foot off the gas at the end, they could have won by 28.
  14. This sums it up perfectly. Doesn't matter who the 3B is in 2017, or probably in 2018 either. It's just not time yet to worry about who will be at 1B, 3B, C, etc. Not until the rotation is ready to contend. So why would you trade Brinson for a 3B prospect that isn't proven either? Brinson has abused pitching in hitters parks/ leagues. I get that. That doesn't mean his ceiling has changed, which is a 5 tool All-Star player. I'm not trading that potential for a problem that doesn't even exist.
  15. Sadly, I agree. Most of the Board, fans, and media are still looking back instead of forward. Just make a couple changes, execute, blah, blah, blah and this team can be great again. It's just like the guy at work YOU know is worthless but somehow he keeps hanging around year after year. 4-3, just lost a game, you come home and play completely un-inspired football? That should really tell us all something. I'm sick of this teasing defense that year after year is supposedly better, but in the end really is still very mediocre. Special Teams problems just move around, from punter, to coverage, to missing kicks, etc. Offense is a mix between predictability and Rodgers trying to force things. With all that said, they could still sneak into the playoffs. That will save TT/MM for another 3 years.
  16. You state that as fact, when it's not. How do you now that? Today, the Brewers have the following pitchers who could be "#3" or better pitchers, some of which could be an ace: Davies, Peralta, Nelson, Hader, Woodruff, Ortiz, Lopez, Bickford, Diplan, Peralta, Taylor Williams, Kirby, Perrin, Ponce, Burnes. That's just off the top of my head. Not to mention a prospect jumping out the next couple years we're not even thinking about (like a Yamamoto.) Who knows, maybe 4 of those guys reach ace status. I just reject the notion that they will need to go out and buy an ace, it's way too early to know that. Keep the door open IF they want to go out and buy an ace? Sure. But if we're looking at odds, then odds are better they can develop an ace rather than compete with the big market clubs to sign one in FA.
  17. Is Maker better off riding the bench in Milwaukee, or playing a lot of minutes in the D League? This is something I always wonder about. In Milwaukee, even if he isn't playing he's involved in all the practices, meetings, traveling with the team, etc. You would think that would help his development adjusting to the NBA, learning the offense, the structure of how Kidd does things, etc. Is that more valuable than playing a lot of run and gun in the D League?
  18. He is 26, not like he's 18/21 or so yr old kid. Still a young man but too old to use age as an excuse. It was just stupid, period, but like you said hopefully he learns from it.
  19. A professional athlete drunk and fighting at zero dark thirty, and insulting police officers? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you!
  20. This time around, I don't want to see another Sabathia or Greinke type trade. It has taken a long time to rebuild the system, and I don't want to see them sell off a bunch of talent for a one or two year run. The Brewers need to keep the farm system as stacked as possible for multiple, multiple year. I think KC and Cleveland are reasonable blueprints for the Brewers. They don't need to sign an "ace" or even develop one. If they build a really good roster 1-25 they can be a legit contender without an ace. If they stumble into one with Hader, Ortiz or whomever, great, better yet. This season actually proved again that teams with the best aces (like the Dodgers and Giants) still couldn't get past the Cubs. Pitching was every bit as good, but couldn't hang offensively.
  21. And that's true for most people. Yea, I never watch TV shows live. But I need to watch sporting events live. My point has been whatever percentage of people DO DVR games are already doing so. It's not like DVR is a new technology just invented last year.
  22. Since I'm a big "admit when you're wrong" guy, wow was I wrong about that. Played good team defense for the first time this season. Also, very encouraging to see multiple guys be able to knock down 3s. If they can continue to so that, they could actually be a really good team. Plus, even though Moose isn't a great fit for this team, he definitely brings something to the table with his work in the post. What do you make of Maker? I saw most of his minutes in summer league, and was surprised he wasn't nearly as raw as people were saying. In fact, as a rookie, he's more advance than Giannis was. Maker can already shoot and had a good handle. All he needs to do is add muscle and learn the NBA game. Could be a real find here.
  23. Jabari has only played 100 games, so hard to now what he is (or is not) yet. We know he can get to the rim, and that's about all we know right now. He has shown the ability to shoot, although not from 3- yet. The NBA is full of guys who are good 3 point shooters who were not so good early in their careers. If he can add a 3 ball to his game, he will be a really, really good player. I think Jabari can be a better rebounder than what he has shown also. Not sure trading him would make sense right now, they would be selling low. But I'm always open to any trade in any sport that makes sense. Jabari, Monroe, and a 1st round pick for Anthony Davis? Sure, sign me up. But that's the kind of player I would need back. Not worth putting a trade together for a shooter, no.
  24. As you know, people disagree with management all the time. There hasn't been much of that directed at Stearns yet, simply because it's too early to know how most of his moves will pan out. I think what you're asking is why do people jump on you? With all due respect, it's because you present your opinions in a false light. Countless times it has been pointed out the Davis trade was more involved than just Davis for Nottingham/Derby. It was largely done to create playing time for a younger, (probably) better player in Santana. Also, just being honest, but when people point these things out you ignore it and keep saying the same thing. That can get annoying to some. Perfect example, you mentioned how the Brewers NEED a LH power bat, can't win without one. When we pointed out many, many examples of how that just isn't true you went silent in that thread. Yet, you continue to say the same thing in other topics. So no, it's not a generational thing. Quite honestly, I think it would help if you weren't so stubborn in your opinions and consider the comments from some of the posters here. My two cents, carry on.
  25. Meh, vast majority of fans want to watch sporting events live. DVR has been around for a long time, so I don't know why anything would change now.
