  1. Hope your right Southpaw, but I doubt we get that kind of haul unless Guerra is included.
  2. I'm not a Moderator, so not really my place, but I'll throw this out there anyhow. First, can we please stick to posting about Lucroy trade today? It will heat up, and none of us want to search through dozens of posts about why Stearns is rebuilding. I get it, it got slow last night and the conversation wondered. But there is a topic dedicated to Stearns rebuilding in the Major League Forum. Secondly, free advice to some of the newer posters. Everyone is welcome here, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I suggest you pay attention to your tone, as it's offensive to some long term posters here who know far more about this stuff than we do. Sometimes it's better to sit back, read, take it all in, and learn. Now, back to the regularly scheduled program.
  3. You may be right about Mejia. But a deal with TX will involve pitching, whether Gallo is a piece or not. And more pitching talent is always a good idea. But Mejia is a good example of how too much weight is put on top 100. He was not on preseason list, now #70. Probably top 50 by next preseason. Those are the risers you want. Also, I've said early and often, positions don't matter yet on draft day, or trades. At this stage, acquire the best talent period. Worst case you build a really good MLB roster, then go out and buy a decent catcher. Lots of money will be available.
  4. Which goes to show you..That prospects aren't jack..I will bet you anything that this "rebuild" won't even start for 5 more years...What I find interesting is that some of you that are slamming acquiring "major league ready" talent, are also advocating for Derek Norris. I'd like that move, but you can't have it both ways. You do realize Peralta and Jungmann aren't prospects? Also, I have a pretty good idea rebuild won't take 5 years to start. Since, you know, it started exactly one year ago.
  5. Yes, I hope Melvin reminded Stearns this is "big boy" baseball. Great, now I have one more thing to worry about.
  6. This. Brinson over Gallo. You get plus defense and better hit tool. Gallo is definition of boom/bust. The four guys you mentioned are the ones I want back.
  7. Mendez and Jurado are the guys I want most. Happy to have Gallo or Brinson too, but I want the pitchers most. Mendez is electric. Jurado gas a sinker, nice fit for Miller Park. Ortiz really scares me as Tommy John guy in waiting. How many of these guys they get, depends on how many players the Brewers include. I would do any combination to get back: Brinson or Gallo Mendez Jurado 2 lottery guys Then deal Smith for another top 100 guy tomorrow, and count me tickled.
  8. Mench would be a good centerpiece, like him more than Gallow. They need to throw in a lottery ticket though. Maybe that Marcos Diplan kid?
  9. I heard Mench can play some cf too.
  10. Could be similar to Gomez trade. Adding another high quality player (Jeffress) really moves the needle.
  11. Does she post here? We can probably guess her screen name. ; )
  12. I mentioned to my wife at dinner last night that the Brewers had traded Lucroy. Her response: "oh". Clear implication: "I don't care". I mentioned this morning that he had blocked the trade and she just came right out with "yeah, I don't care". Try explaining arbitration or international signing sometime if you really want to see her eyes glaze over.
  13. Add Guerra and make it Bernie-like Eeeeeuge
  14. Off-season is not a good option. If you don't like the offers now, off-season will be worse. Why give up top prospects for one year of Lucroy? At a time when there's more options to trade for catchers, convince yourself you'll be set at catcher, etc. Now is the time, period. Same with the RP. Trade deadline is made for selling RP, when they have far more value than the off-season.
  15. Cubs are the best chance to get a deal done. They are truly all in. And they already offered a similar (maybe better) deal than Cleveland. Stearns wanted more since they're in same division. Well, forget all that now. Get a deal done with the Cubs. It will be for less than what we want, less than Lucroy is "worth" but as we are learning, that was always going to be the case.
  16. Why would it? Two ways. Time and resources focused on what happens next with Lucroy. Other teams sensing weakness and low balling offers for other Brewers trade candidates.
  17. Move on to the Cubs. They are in "All in" mode and had an offer as good as Cleveland. Who cares if they're in same division. This has to affect deals for Smith, jeffress, Guerra and others too.
  18. Is this just procedural? Lucroy officially rejects, Brewers pony up a couple million to release no trade clause, deal goes through????
  19. Seems like everyone is taking their frustrations out on Stearns, instead of directing them at the market. Lucroy SHOULD be worth more? No, doesn't work that way. A bat is a luxury down the stretch, pitching is a necessity. I will also pile on the BA rankings that everyone is obsessed with. Those rankings are mostly based on the past. Fun to read, has some value but it is not gospel. Frankly, Stearns has already proven he can identify minor league talent.
  20. Is he in the dugout? Is he on field after the game? Press conference? Yada, yada, there is no trade completed. Past 11:30 est. On to tomorrow.
  21. Id guess awaiting what Lucroy brings. Theres another day yet. Say Bobby Bradley was included in Indians trade. Giants and Chris Shaw become same type of 1b prospect get. Yea domino's have to fall, I get it. Brewers are in a truly unique position to have 6 or 7 guys "worth" a top prospect, and I'm just nervous, anxious, freaking out that we'll be at least somewhat disappointed come Monday.
  22. Disappointed nothing done with Guerra, Carter, Smith, Jeffreys , etc in the meantime. This forum is for Lucroy, I know, but where are a few more Top 100 guys in other trades!?!
  23. Why would the Rangers trade a current bat for another bat? That doesn't make them better. After 3 threads of over 12,000 posts on Lucroy, let's get back to the basics. Teams will trade prospects for Lucroy, not productive MLB players.
  24. Yea, I see Medeiros and Ray as two guys I'm not even counting on to have roles in the next version of the competitive Brewers. So if either or both turn out to be really good, that will just be icing on the cake.
  25. Absolutely. At the same time, guys who are considered to be top 5 prospects from a great farm system SHOULD be young for their level, and performing at a very high level. That's why guys like Phillips and Lopez are troubling. It does NOT mean they will never be MLB players, or even really good MLB players. They still have time on their side. With that said, I do have a hard time putting guys like that in the Top 5. Hopefully after the trades are done, we'll have a new #1, and 2-4 new players in the Top 10.
