  1. It's entirely possible that not a single player from the 2013 draft will ever play a day in MLB. Astounding. Devin Williams, Taylor Williams, and Garrett Cooper are the only players with even a chance. I wonder how often that happens, must be extremely rare.
  2. Actually it's ALL about numbers. Or one number anyhow- 23. Time to move up or move out. Fun fact. Biloxi now the home to 3 light hitting #1 Brewers draft picks.
  3. Seems like a lifetime achievement award type of thing. You played almost 2 years in BC, you get rewarded.
  4. Surprised so many think Guerra will be in 2018 rotation. Not impossible, but really hard to see that happening. Nelson, Davies, Hader are givens barring injury or trade. Remaining two? I'll go with Woodruff and Wilkerson. But Anderson, Suter, Lopez, Ortiz, Ponce, and Wang are all possible.
  5. My goodness, he used the most generic term possible. Ask him what he thinks about Belonis, and he would probably use the exact same words.
  6. Yea, there's some border line guys it would be nice to add. AAAA guys like Cooper, Wren, Orf, but at least they're younger and better than the ones currently on the 40. Then there's guys like Taylor, Roache, Williams, Diaz that I don't want to give up on quite yet. But looking over the current 40, should be relatively easy to protect anyone that's borderline. And once that's done, yes that will already be an improvement over the current 40 man roster. As Splitter said, should get real interesting starting next year at this time.
  7. Not top mention trade for Marcum. Or FA signing of Suppan, Wolf, Lohse, Garza, etc.
  8. I can tell you that would have little or no impact on attendance. When MLB players rehab here, yea that draws a lot of attendance- especially if it's a bigger name. But #1 draft picks are par for the course around here. TRats games are about fan experience, only a small percentage go to watch the high ranked talent. And those of us who do go for that reason are already going to see Clark, Diaz, etc., etc.
  9. I get what you're saying, there's Harrison (and others) on the way as well. Good news is, it's not a problem until it's a problem. The odds are extremely low Brinson, Phillips, Ray, and Clark all make it to MLB and are all at least acceptable, positive WAR players. I actually love the fact they all have CF ability, that translates to really good corner OF defense. Nothing wrong with Clark starting out as the 4th OF temporarily if it comes to that. I'm just concerned with OPS, fine with me if it's more OBP heavy rather than slugging. But if that is a concern, remember if Brinson plays CF they will have above average power there for the position. That would offset below average power from Ray or Clark playing corner OF. And if it's Phillips, power isn't his problem. If all of them develop, you can always trade one. Depth is never a bad thing.
  10. Hasn't Clark been playing for at least a week?
  11. Yes, the poster (wildcat) had solid source, but it was about some of the players they were scouting, who they liked, etc. Wildcat pretty such said the rest is just conjecture on his part, and the scout's. Really appreciate the behind the scenes stuff he provided, but I see a lot of people reading way too much into it.
  12. Top 25 time, lots of guys trying to improve their position tonight. Always telling how a player performs under pressure.
  13. Yea, I don't think he's overlooked around here. Was half expecting to see Suter's face when I clicked the link.
  14. That list of four is not relevant here. Wildcat (poster) has knowledge those were players scouts followed leading up to trade. Lots of others were scouted as well, since structure of trade could have been a quantity trade. This scout had no knowledge of who is on the ptbnl list. Hope that makes sense?
  15. Willie Mays did ok with that stance.
  16. One less Top 100 guy. Plus they would have had two other prospects. But I agree, probably wouldn't be #1 without a big name like Brinson.
  17. Not there yet. They have a future need everywhere until proven otherwise.
  18. I'm not so sure. You still have Braun, Nelson/Guerra, and relievers. (Relievers could be anyone by this time next year.) Even Villar could be moved. Not suggesting he should, just saying there's that option. Probably not three Top 100 guys again next year, but they have some pieces to move yet.
  19. Totally forgot about Mallen. I will have to edit my list later to stick him in there. Don't sell Troy Stokes "short" either. (Pardon the pun, he's 5'8".) If he was 22 or repeating A ball, I wouldn't pay much attention, but that's not the case here. Just 20 years old, went .791 at Helena last year. Tough start this year, steadily climbed to .748 and rising. He will take his walks, can steal some bases, and even has a bit of pop. I know, I know, if he's so great why didn't I vote for him?!?! Toss up between him and Segovia at 25 (and 11 other guys.)
  20. Nice to see Stokes and Mallen on Otlander's list. Was considering both of them, they deserve a few votes.
  21. Agreed, and that's always a fine line. Either Brewers player development folks are making the right decisions there, or there needs to be changes made. In general, they're really pushing guys through. I hope they're confident the players involved can handle it, and they're not doing it just to rush the rebuild. Collymore is a good example. Not a top prospect or anything, but they start him in BC due to crowded OF in WI. Looked like he wasn't overmatched at first, but fell off a cliff to the point where he's hitting under .200 now. I don't want to see the same thing happen to Ray, whether it's due to the park or just not ready for Advanced A ball pitching.
  22. As much as we would all like Garza gone, it's not going to happen. Not all bad, he can eat innings the rest of this year and next. He actually hasn't been horrendous since he's come back, just bad. That's fine for now. The Brewers have been on an unbelieveable healthy streak for SP the past two years. Not so bad to have Garza around, since there's no much on the way for next year. Suter yes, he'll get a chance. Maybe Hader at some point. But that's only 7 SP. If Garza goes back to being horrible, has a bas attitude or whatever he can always be cut at any time.
  23. Conspiracy theory. Could it be they brought Arcia up to prove to him he needs to adjust some things to be able to hit at the MLB level? I have never heard anyone say he's been a problem or anything, but players do have a way of sticking to what has worked for them and have a hard time changing their approach at the plate, stance, hands placement, etc. So my theory goes, bring him up, he really struggles, then he goes back down to CS for half a season next year to work on his hitting. Or, if he adjusts this season, then he's off and running. They may feel nothing is going to change unless they let him see for himself he still has work to do. No idea if that's the case, probably not. But I think it does make sense at least.
  24. That's what is really interesting to me. We have the #1 system, but if you go down the Top 10 list (or even Top 25), very few of those guys are having great seasons. I'm not saying that means they're not worthy of this honor, as a lot of those guys have aggressive placements this season.
  25. Right, that's because I acknowledge BC is going to affect slugging%. So .750ish is a good season in BC. I'm just trying to point out the park isn't a good excuse for a guy like Coulter having a horrible season (especially since he's repeating the level) or for Ray to hit. 500 OPS there. If you're a good hitter, you can still put up a "nice" .750 season while explaining away the other 50+ points are due to the park. It's actually a good test, so is CS. These guys will struggle when they get to MLB, and they'll need to learn how to overcome that. So it does help in evaluating prospects, how do they handle adversity? Don't get me wrong, I would prefer all our parks be neutral hitting/pitching parks. But there is some value at least in playing in BC and CS.
