  1. Yea baby!!! Prince coming through. Always nice to see them score without the homeruns.
  2. A 30/30 season with 100 walks would be a rare feat indeed. In fact, only three guys in history have ever done it, but they each did it multiple times for a grand total of eight 30/30 100 walk seasons in MLB history. Does anybody have any guesses who the three might be? One guy is a gimme. Without looking it I am sure Bonds is one of them and I am going to guess Ken Griffey Jr. and Rickey Henderson, but I doubt Henderson had the power to get to 30 hrs. Going to look it up now. EDIT: Wow I was way off. Never would have got that.
  3. I would be ecstatic if he can walk 100 times this year while keeping his power numbers up. His approach has looked great lately. Braun has a .632 OBP and 1.401 OPS in his last 5 games.
  4. Big bats coming up. Get it done. Would be even better for Prince to do it off Mota.
  5. Romo is about the worst dude we could see with Weeks and Gomez coming up. His slider is filthy.
  6. Hot shot, but McGehee has to make that play. That was the DP we needed.
  7. He looked great in the 7th and ball 4 didn't miss by much. If Wolf comes back with a DP to the next batter we'd be singing a different tune. I think he was pulled at the right time.
  8. Good call there. Would have liked to see Randy get through the 8th but, good move by RRR with the quick hook. Great outing by Wolf. Has been pitching very well this year.
  9. Wolf has only given up 2 hits and is at 72 pitches. Would seem a bit premature to take him out.
  10. Wow, what a way to give up the first hit. Aubrey HUff with the excuse me check swing single.
  11. Two more walks for Braun. On pace for 95 this season and already more than half of what he had all last season. Love the approach.
  12. In that game correct it didn't and wouldn't make much of an impact, but over the course of a 162 game season it can make an impact. If you play that same situation out 162 times and make the right call more often than not that could be a difference of a win or two and vice versa. Someone more tuned in to the stats community could probably help me out with the impact of a manager, but the point is that these decisions add up over the course of an entire season. The more often the manager makes the right moves to maximize the teams personnel will help and the more often he makes the opposite decisions will more negatively impact the team.
  13. If that's true than I'll admit I was wrong in that regard. I've really only ever seen him play the corners. I still say Kotsay's bat was superior to Boggs' bat and I think people over estimate how much of an impact it actually had on games. In those games it didn't impact them much. Decisions should be based on the highest probability of success in all situations. Just because it didn't have much impact doesn't mean that was the move that he should have made. Lets say RRR bats Wolf in a key late game situation with Hart on the bench and Wolf hits a home run to win the game. Move worked but I would still call RRR an idiot for doing. I understand this is an extreme example but the principle of it is what I am getting at.
  14. Actually Boggs has played more CF in the minors than any other position. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=boggs-001bra
