  1. So if everyone is moving to slowly in front of you, is them that are moving too slow or you who are moving too fast? Sorry to get all philosophical here but if the problem is with everyone is it a problem or a difference of opinion?
  2. I do think its rude, but if people don't take the initiative I will mosey on over. I always look at the people in front of me and if they look at me I gesture them to move ahead or at least wait a few seconds for them to move. Just because someone brought it up my personal pet peeve is people who get so flustered over people who don't do things in the most efficient way possible, ie: using their check cards, driving etc. I hate to pick on you FTJ, but lets just say someone does two of those things in front of you, well when it comes down to it you just one minute of your day. Is it really something to get worked up over? Maybe I just long for a time when everyone wasn't in such a hurry to get everywhere and do everything, but it just seems like everyone is so busy these days that we have forgotten how to interact with each other. I constantly have to tell store clerks or other people who are "holding me up" thats its really ok when they apologize. I have no problem waiting. Things happen and I'm not going to let something like that get me bent out of shape. For the record I'm 25 years old and it seems like its an age issue, with most people around my age feeling completely opposite of me.
  3. I love Dial Zero: allows you to look up numbers that get you through automated systems to a live person. This totally rules. I also use Pageonce Assistant: puts all of your online accounts on one screen and allows you to view their information. FOr instance I have my bank and credit cards, netflix, Time Warner, WE energies in it. I also have the standard stuff like facebook, myspace and aim.
  4. Yeah its wrong. The RBI's should read 158. Not sure where they got that number from EDIT looks like someone beat me to it.
  5. Nez - Is it really that humid there? I was under the impression that Austin was humid but nothing like the East coast and even less than Wisconsin. I think we have kind of come to the conclusion that its between ABQ and Austin. I have been doing a lot of research on the cities but its always hard to get an accurate picture on them. Austin Pros: Great music scene Fun nightlife/young crowd etc. Nice weather year round, save some heat in the summer One of the few large cities in the country to have positive job growth Cons: Traffic housing is expensive in the city lack of pro sports ABQ Pros: Great outdoors for hiking, climbing etc. Affordable housing/rentals Great arts community (the gf is a dancer) Awesome weather Cons: Quieter/not as much going on lack of pro sports I know there are some things I am missing on the list, but thats my quick and dirty analysis.
  6. Law school is a mild consideration but not much of one. If I can get into UT I will go there, but I have to take the LSAT in June and that wil determine if my score is competitive there. I don't have an interest in going to law school in ABQ. So mainly it is just somewhere to live and enjoy myself for a year. I will have a degree in Env. Science so it would be cool to find something in that field, but I am a bartender right now and I have no problem just picking up a job slinging drinks somewhere for the year. I just can't stand the weather anymore and this is the time in my life to see something different.
  7. Bump? Any other opinions, suggestions?
  8. Albuquerque seems to just keep sounding better. Brew blue, since you live there now, do you have any suggestions on neighborhoods that some mid-20 year olds would find fun? Something that doesnt shut down at 5 pm. What parts of town are less vibrant? , We are used to Milwaukee where stuff is walk and bikeable, so how is the city for getting around? Is there public transit, buses etc? As far as nightlife goes is it more pubs/taverns or is it more club oriented? I hate the clubs and although my gf graduated as a dance major she only likes to go out to dance at the clubs every once in a while. On that note, is there any sort of dance community at all? Its not necessary but a definite plus for her to find some dance opportunities where we end up. Also how are the winters? Is it a snow and then melt sort of thing or do you guys get extended periods of cold, ice etc? I'll probably think of more but thats all I have for now. Finally if any Austinites are reading this I'd love to hear more about your city in the vein of these questions.
  9. Wow thanks for all the awesome responses! I'll try and respond with what I can. First off from what I heard the Tucson climate is a little more moderated compared to Phoenix because of the elevation. Am I correct in that? Does it make any difference. Don't get me wrong I want somewhere hot without the snow and cold of Wisconsin, but then again I am from Wisconsin. Also Phoenix is probably a little bigger than we are looking for population wise, but maybe I could be swayed if you guys have some other things to say about it. Sounds like Tucson isn't really getting much love here anyways. Secondly. OldHoss thanks for the comments on Albuquerque. From the way everyone talks about it, it seems like a very underrated city. Like you said I'm sure its changed some but would you classify it as a sleepy mountain town, a town that happens to be surrounded buy mountains or something all together? As far as Austin goes, you guys have pretty much confirmed what I have heard about it. I love music and I know I would love that scene there. One concern that I have is one thing I am getting sick of in Milwaukee is that the whole social scene revolves around going out to the bars and getting hammered. Now I love to booze it up as much of the next guy, but is Austin that way as well? Also I have heard the traffic sucks and there isnt really good public transit. Any thoughts on that? Finally do you guys have any recommendations for neighborhoods and areas to look at for a couple our age? Lastly. San Diego? Would love to but for some personal reasons its not an option. Vegas? Way too many vices that I have that could be further enhanced being there. Salt Lake CIty I hadn't really thought about. It would seem like there is more snow and cold there than I want? Also does it have the sun that the other places on my list do? As far as weather goes Im pretty picky. Lots of sun, low humidity, don't really want to see below 40 degrees. Thanks so much! I knew Brewerfan would have good advice. Keep 'em coming guys!
  10. So I am graduating in May and then I have a year off before law school. I haven't been able to get used to the weather in my first 26 years in Wisconsin so I'm not liking my chances of coming around with another year. So I have decided its time for a change. Basically I want to go somewhere warm without crazy humidity, so the Southwest is looking pretty good. Cities we have in mind are Austin, Tucson and Albuquerque. We are looking for something at least as big as Milwaukee is and has the same sort of vibe as far as people and things to do. I'm 26 and my lady is 25 so we are young and will definitely be looking for a place that doesn't shut down at 5 pm and has lots of things to do. Also I will be getting a dog after graduation so somewhere that is dog friendly is a definite plus. So does anyone out there in Brewer land have any thoughts? I would love to hear from people who have spent some time in the cities there, good, bad, ugly it doesn't matter.
  11. You know whats bugging me? Roommates. Mine in particular, who feel the need to let their friends from out of town stay here and be loud at early morning hours. I worked 12 hours yesterday and didnt get home until 4 am. I've been up for the last hour because of them. I just want some sleep! Ok rant over. PS- Im moving into my own place in less than a week, with 0 roommates, save my girlfriend. Thank God!
  12. Fun thread. My bro and his wife got a Wii from me as a combo wedding and xmas gift. My little bro got a Kohls wedding gift cert despite the fact that he is not getting married or even has a gf. My sister got the Dark Knight. My mom got a some cd's she has been craving but wont but for herself. She never buys them for herself for whatever reason. My dad is a big cooker and he got a Suntoku knife he has been wanting. My gf is a musical theater nerd so I surprised her with tickets to Wicked in Chicago and a sweet mixed cd. My aunt who now lives in San Diego got a gift package of Alterra coffee, one of the things she misses most about Wisconsin. I am horrible at giving gifts but I thought this year went pretty well.
  13. Agreed on Walsh, he's great. Every character is great, Vince is probably my least favorite character but still pretty good, Lloyd and Ari are hilarious together, and Drama is my favorite character by far, even when he's not saying something funny, I still laugh out loud. The only character I never really liked was Shauna, Vince's publicist, but she hasn't been on much lately. \\ Agreed on Vince. He's cool but its really his boys and Ari that make the show. Ari is by far my favorite, but I am an E fan as well. I loved when Ari slapped around Adam Davies and his dialogue in that scene. Priceless, totally priceless. Also most of the time the guest spots are actually good and useful to the show, which is different than a lot of shows. Bob Sagat. That was such a good spot. I am sad to see the season over so soon. Seemed like it just started.
  14. Yeah Entourage this year is awesome. I am not a huge fan of True Blood, but Entourage, Californication and Dexter plus football make my Sundays pretty rockin'
  15. So my external hard drive was knocked off of my desk and now I get power and some spinning but my hard drive doesn't show up on my desktop and eventually it stops spinning and i get nothing unless I unplug it from the power source again. I have restarted the computer, tried different cables etc. I would love to get the data off of here. Any ideas on places that someone would look at it/fix it?
  16. I finally took my computer and desk out of my room after hearing this would lead to better sleep. It has worked wonders for me. It still takes a bit for me to fall asleep sometimes but when I do sleep I have better sleep for sure.
  17. AH How did I forget Piven. I freakin' love him in Entourage. Jesse Lacey is a good one too Stevo
  18. I am a total computer novice and i just did the speed test. Mine seems a lot slower than everyone else's and we have Roadrunner Turbo. I was getting like 1.5- 1.8 mbps for download and about 1 Mb for uploads. That seems pretty slow. What sorts of things affect your download and upload speed? I'm using a MacBook Intel Core Duo 2.16 Ghz, 1 gb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. At least thats what my computer tells me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. http://www.etoday.ru/uploads/2008/04/22/EdwardNorton.jpg Ed Norton. Dude is amazing. I love everything he has ever done. American History X, Fight Club and Rounders are all in my top five fave movies of all time.
  20. I just watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Really funny comedy. Its a bunch of the same guys from Knocked Up and Superbad. If you like that kind of stupid comedy go check it out. Plus Mia Kunis is in it and looking very good! Rawr!
  21. The commercial may have sucked but hey its Ryam Braun and some super model. Life could be worse.
  22. Is it just me or did it look like Corey was dogging it down the line?
  23. Even though I would take flack for it on here I am a Brewers fan first and a Red Sox fan second so a Brewers Red Sox WS would be pretty sweet. I do like the Rays though. The Angels are very good but I just don't like California teams for whatever reason. I just can never root for the Cubs. I want to see them crushed murdered and maimed in the first round. So for me it is Brewers Red Sox Rays White Sox Angels Dodgers Phillies Cubs
