  1. That a boy JJ. TIED! Now just at least get a ball in the air Rickie
  2. I love it. Counsell and Kendall of all people coming through.
  3. In all of your posts about this topic you have consistently failed to acknowledge that what you are affirming as the action the DM should have taken is impossible. Please show me an example of a midseason trade deadline deal that involved quality young pitchers with 3 years before free agency going to playoff contending teams. It does not happen. Thats the nature of the beast. Was it a perfect deal? No, if it were we could have traded Seth McClung and Tony Gwynn Jr. for him but thats not going to happen. And of course this isn't the 1990's Brewers. The simple fact that we were A. in a position to have any business acquiring a pitcher of CC's caliber and B. have enough prospects to get the deal done without having to give up any current MLB players shows how we are light years beyond that point. And your point about bad logic fails on so many levels. First of all the deal has to be looked at in the correct context. It was not the offseason, it was the middle of the season. Teams arent trading away quality young pitchers still in the early part of arbitration. Secondly like you said we have a lot of young talent in the farm system and we didn't give up the farm by any means. Escobar and Gamel are top 20 prospects and we have plenty of other depth in the wings. In case you missed the first 25 games of the season, we are competitive right now. We traded away LaPorta, a great prospect who has the chance to turn into a great player, but thats far from a sure thing and we are still competitive with plenty of minor league depth. Thats DM using good logic.
  4. I still think that the suggestion of going out of town and finding a slump buster is his best bet.
  5. Maybe he should untuck a flap on his shirt since that was apparently what they were so up in arms about.
  6. I get what you're saying, but thats like trying Matt Cain from the Giants in mid season. A trade like that is not going to happen unless you are offering current major league players, plus prospects. The price would be ridiculous. The package we offered doesn't get us Matt Cain even in the off season, much less during a midseason playoff push. The reason players like CC are available is because they are rentals and teams (Cleveland) realize there are others (Milwaukee) willing to pay for that half season in order to improve their run towards the playoffs. Even if the Brewers hadn't made the playoffs it was the right gamble at the time.
  7. But we do have the prospects to get that deal done. I meant two amazing starts. His two starts before the last two were less than spectacular, fairly average actually. Obviously Gallardo projects to be a top of the rotation pitcher. So did Mark Rogers. My point was that projections and reality are not always one in the same and just because some projects to be something does not mean it is a guarantee that they will turn into that (which is what you said was the main thing the brewers front office neglected to think about). Trades like the Sabathia trade are inherently short term. Thats the nature of them. The gamble that teams take is that half a season of a player and giving up prospects will help them in the short term. This is exactly what happened. And I am assuming most would agree that it did that better than any of us could have expected and better than any other similar trade in the history.
  8. We still have plenty of prospects to trade right now if we wanted to take that gamble again. Yo replacing Sheets was and still is anything from a sure thing. Its only been two starts and he has looked better than Sheets and as good as CC in both of them, but its hard to say definitively that he has replaced anyone yet. Gambling on the future is far from a sure thing, as was the midseason trade for CC. That was one of if not the best trades in MLB history with the way he pitched, so I have a hard time saying anything but positive things about it.
  9. But isn't it scary to think how good we would have been with Sabathia, Sheets and a healthy Gallardo last season? Scary.
  10. I am totally all about this band called The The new Death Cab for Cutie EP rocks my socks Also this guy rules. Really great album called When I Hit the Ground and he looks like Micheal Cera. awesome stuffAnd if you like sassy hipster dance rock you will love ">
  11. AMERICA!!!
  12. Wait what am I missing? Why are they getting beaned?
  13. BROOMS!!!!! After all the comments on the Pirates message board, this sweep is even sweeter.
  14. Can somebody explain to me why Villy is in right now? I don't get it.
  15. HAHAHA!!! Best response ever.
  16. Honestly I do have some respect for the organization as they seem to be trying to do things the right way. Obviously their scouting department hasn't had the success ours has but there does seem to be similar approaches from the front offices. For that reason I did feel sorry for them because they have had some bad luck and always kind of rooted for them to a certain extent. Honestly though reading those comments make it hard to do that. Maybe if they were at least having a reasonable discussion about their thoughts on why Braun should have been plunked it would be different. I wouldn't agree but it would be nice to at least read something of substance. But there is nothing there that suggests anything more than knuckle dragging personal attacks. And its not even a single bad apple, its every poster there. I would say being the dredge of the Central makes one feel that way, but we were that at one point and I don't think that we sunk to that level. It really makes me thankful for Brewerfan. It also makes me want to maim them everytime we face them and have Braun do somersaults around the bases every time he homers.
  17. What is they untucking the shirt thing they are talking about? Did he untuck it coming around third?
  18. If they did then thats just stupid. That was playoff atmosphere baseball in late September and Braun hit an absolute no doubter that won the game in the bottom of the 10th to keep them alive in the playoff race. Anyone in their right mind would have celebrated the way Braun did.
  19. Do you really think they would throw him out on the first pitch? I'd be pretty shocked if they did. Esp given the fact that the Pirates threw at them first. Anyone have a link to Braun's comments from last night? Didn't see them anywhere.
  20. Feel free. and remember....an egg roll does not count as a Chinese burrito but a Ho Ho can be counted as a dessert burrito. Best news I've heard all day
  21. I was thinking the same thing. The kid does only have 13 AB's this season. Although I can't remember him looking good in any of them. I just checked and he has 6 K's in 13 AB's. Ugh!
  22. Couldn't agree more. He gave up four hits and four runs over six while walking four. Obviously the walk total is still high and thats why even though he only gave up four hits those four hits hurt. If he can keep going six innings and four or fewer earned runs he will be in the rotation the entire season.
  23. You did right here on Brewerfan after the Parra Fielder incident.
  24. Hey 16 year old me - Life gets a lot better after high school and nothing is as big of a deal as it seems right now. Oh and stop making mom's life hell. 25 year old me
  25. I highly doubt Braun was thinking about how his stats looked when he made these comments. He is completely right. He didn't say he was playing amazing and everyone else should catch up. He said we in pretty much every sentence and made sure to mention every aspect of play. Pitching, hitting and defense. Its great to hear someone tell it like it is. He could have said "we are just out there battling and sooner or later the breaks are going to come our way, but golly gee we are out there giving it out our all." Puke in my mouth to those kinds of comments. He basically said we are pros and we have not been getting it done its time for us to get it done. Loved it.
