  1. Don't confuse Hart's ability to play first with the idea that the position is easy. If you have the speed to do it, switching from first to the outfield is much easier than going from outfield to first. Proper footwork at first is extremely difficult. The fact that so many catchers play first to rest their legs fools people into thinking it is easy but the footwork is similar so catchers can do it. If more first baseman had above average speed you would see them in the outfield more often. Anyone who says that first base is "easy" to play probably never played first for any length of time.
  2. The colleague should have told her that when someone in Vegas puts a quarter into a machine and gets exactly what they want those $100 bills are commonly given as tips.
  3. When Nyjer came to Milwaukee he had a reputation of being a clubhouse cancer. His time in Milwaukee sure didn't support that feeling. As a Brewer he will be remembered as a catalyst. When his playing time dwindled he became a first rate cheerleader. Wherever Nyjer ends up we should all be wishing him the best and rooting for him(even if he ends up in St. Louis). He won't be remembered as one of our greatest players but he will be remembered as one of our greatest characters. Good luck Nyjer.
  4. I find it interesting that Kansas City would go out and get Santana. Everyone is excited about some of their young pitching and this would seem to block one of them. Maybe they aren't as high on them as they once were.
  5. The people who think it is disgusting have no sense of taste and those who love it obviously have an enlightened sense of taste. That is the unscientific explanation. At least, that is what I'm going with. BTW, I love the Dew.
  6. If that was Parra's final outing as a Brewer it sure was fitting.
  7. Oh boy, it's talk like a Pirate day. Now I can say things like, "We are losers when we play baseball." and "I can't remember the last time we finished a season above .500."
  8. I'm showing my age but my all-time favorite is Van Lingle Mungo. You can look it up.
  9. I love it when National League teams make bad trades. Or at least what I think are bad trades. How will they afford Greinke now?
  10. Cody Ransom has a batting average of .203. He has a strikeout average of .462. That is beyond bad.
  11. Isn't this exactly the situation that Livan was signed for?
  12. I don't think this would be the "coolest" thing I ever saw at a game but it has stuck in my memory. I went to a game without tickets at County stadium and as I walked up to the window a lady asked me if I was a big Brewer fan. I said yes and she offered me a ticket. She was part of a group from a nursing home and asked if I would sit in the middle of the group and answer questions. I thought it sounded like fun and said yes. It was mostly just talking baseball and listening to their stories. There was one gentleman who was 3 people to my left and one row in front of me that quit talking once the game started, he was very intent on watching the game. I can still picture him sitting in his seat with his hands on top of his cane and his chin on his hands watching every pitch. In about the 6th inning a foul ball was popped up high into the air toward our section. When it landed it hit on the concrete runway and bounced high into the air. The guy never wavered from his position and when it came back down it hit him squarely on top of the head. He didn't even flinch but rather slowly he toppled over like a little tree falling. The ushers got there right away and the medical people had him on a stretcher and they took him out quickly. The lady who gave me the ticket went out with them and came back a half inning later and said he was okay. In the top of the 9th, here comes the guy back with a bandage on his head. He goes back to his seat, takes the same position leaning on his cane and finishes watching the game. I've often thought of that guy over the last 25 years because he became my definition of a "true gamer".
  13. 1. Robin Yount's 3000th hit. 2. Nolan Ryan's 300th win 3. Cooper and Money hitting grand slams in the same inning 4. Scott Erickson's no hitter 5. Prince Fielder's inside the park homer in the dome.
  14. As bad as the individuals in the bullpen have been I don't think the poor management of RRR can be overlooked. In this game alone he sent 2 guys back out for a second inning and they both ended up throwing over 30 pitches. That is setting them up for failure. There was no reason for Axford batting with runners on base. RRR's inability to manage the bullpen has been evident all year. I'm not saying he is the whole reason for the bullpen implosion but I think he has to take a majority of the blame.
  15. You can tell all of that from a commercial? ? Rodgers is the Packers QB. Rogers pitches for the Brewers.
