I don't. Not even a little. Once Weeks, Morgan and Ramirez start to hit, and they will, the offense will be very good. The only hole in the lineup will be at SS.
I know that the only reason the team is hitting so poorly right now and having trouble scoring runs is because of the loss of Fielder. If they had only signed them they would be way better off. Probably even undefeated right now.
That was a poorly managed 5th inning by the manager. Why help out a pitcher who is on the ropes by giving him an out? My goodness, just let the guys hit. Would have been nice to see Peralta in the game.
There are better options though. Gamel or Hart #2 depending on the handedness of the pitcher. Bunting at the top of the order is not good strategy, especially with all the power we have.
I think that is pretty consistent. He seems to be unable to accurately distinguish the difference between talent unless it is obvious like Braun. He also values experience more than talent in cases like that.
We'll see. Way to early to tell. Everything he has done so far this year is way outside his career norms. Batted ball stats and plate discipline in particular. He has always had stretches where he looked good. September. No way you bring up your a good minor league starter to let him waste away in the pen. Need to keep him stretched out and get his innings up for next year.
This may help Even a full season isn't enough in many cases. You may have to slightly adjust up or down a bit based on the current season and age but you probably want 1500ish PA to have a good idea what that starting point should be. I would guess a month or 2 for the stats to show a difference in approach.
Extrapolating anything from the stats at this point in the year for anything other than trivia is completely useless. Which makes it even more amazing that he was able to rank among league leaders in errors. Easy to make good throws when you play at half speed.
That sounds about right. I would love the bench if we had Hairston on it. Izturis wouldn't bother me to much with Hairston on the bench as well. I guess it really comes down to Ishikawa being on the team.
I am not so sure I would want to do that. Depends on the money but we have Gamel through 2016 which is his age 31 season. I wouldn't want to pay much for his age 32-33 years. I think he is a good player who may age well but I wouldn't look at a long term contract for him yet.
Depends what you are going to get. Greinke and Marcum would not net a pick for the team trading for them so that will suppress their value a bit. I would have no problem offering both Greinke and Marcum arbitration provided both end the year healthy. Greinke and Marcum on year to year deals would be pretty ideal in my opinion. Weeks and Hart would probably have a good bit of value at the deadline since they are both have more than just this year left. I don't see Ramirez getting traded. I think they should have resigned Hariston and used him with Green at 3B. On the other hand I think that talking about doing anything other than picking up guys at the trading deadline is a moot discussion. We are not going to be bad enough to even consider unloading guys baring multiple horrendous injuries. Of course if Gindl continues to hit "I" would bring him up and trade Hart. Morgan is of course redundant with Aoki and Schaefer in the fold. Maybe trade Morgan and bring up Gindl for some power off the bench.
I would go with rebuild if Greinke doesn't sign only after seeing if you could get another front-line starter. I don't think Marcum is back unless he accepts arbitration and I think Wolf's option gets picked up unless he completely falls off a cliff. I think Marcum to one of our minor leaguers is a relatively small drop-off, maybe a couple games. Greinke to the next guy after Marcum's replacement would be a bit more than that. Add the 2 together and I think you probably drop about 5 wins plus natural decline from Hart and Weeks. A competitive team sure but only for the next couple years and then I think we would see a pretty big dropoff. Our minors really don't have much hitting talent.
Not really. I hate the infield playing in in almost every situation. Even with the infield in you have to pray the ball is hit right to a guy and he makes a good throw and the catcher doesn't get plowed over and drop the ball. Way to many things have to go right to cut down that run at the plate while opening up yourself to multiple runs if they don't.
The odds are better with the infield in and 1 out, men on 2nd & 3rd? No force play anywhere? You never walk the bases loaded because you force your pitcher to throw strikes. Maybe with the pitcher coming up next but only maybe. K-Rod is a strikeout pitcher against a guy who strikes out a lot. The infield should not have been brought in though.
