  1. My forehead hurts. I think my desk is broken. I am not seeing where Gonzalez(.298/.409/.707 vs LHP) will be a better hitter than Gamel. Gomez is even worse though he had a decent year last year vs LHP. Hopefully we get some explanation about not wanting to put to much pressure on Gamel.
  2. Ishikawa has played a total of 42 games in the outfield in his whole professional career going back to 2002.
  3. We were saying similar things about Kotsay and Morgan last year. How did that play out? DPR strikes again.
  4. I was actually thinking Gamel not Aoki.
  5. The internet would replace it if or when they ever stop their stupid blackout rules. I would seriously drop my cable if I could legally get live games in market any other way.
  6. I agree, but you're assuming that we'll have $20MM+ to spend. As WTP mentioned earlier, here is the obligation for 2015: 2015: $50.50m Braun: $12m Weeks: $11.5m (option) Ramirez: $14m (option) Gallardo: $13m (option) Braun will be paid $14.5m in 2015($12m base plus $2.5m bonus money) and he is never paid more than $15m in any given year because of deferred money. 16:$19M, 17:$19M, 18:$19M, 19:$18M, 20:$16M, $18M in salary ($4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20) deferred without interest, to be paid in equal installments each July 1 from 2022 to 2031)
  7. I believe Taylor Green would have been a clear upgrade of McGehee and we could have done that in June. Sure you have to give your guys a long leash but half a season of poor play from a guy many expected to decline was more than enough.(not to mention dropping off the season before) How do other guys like the manager sticking with a guy who is obviously playing poorly? I also disagree with the manager playing the guys he should have after Hairston arrived. Hairston at SS and Green at 3B would have been the best choice in my opinion. At least get Yuni off the field against RHP and late in games for defense.
  8. Good results≠good decisions. Less relevant, sure but not irrelevant. Our manager is poor at making good in game decisions and takes way to much of a hands on approach to the offense.
  9. Put me in the camp that thinks we won in spite of the manager last year. Hopefully he learned we are not a small ball team. He was saved from himself by Saito, Hawkins and K-Rod all coming back to the team in the middle of the year only to end our season prematurely by starting Kotsay in CF. I firmly believe we make the World Series if Morgan or Gomez start instead of Kotsay. Put Morgan in the bottom of the order where his small ball belongs and tell him not to bunt as often.
  10. Doesn't mean he is going to sign a contract with us. It could just mean he doesn't want to think about trying to get an agent during the season or just after. I hope he signs an extension with us because I think with Gallardo and Greinke along with our locked up position players we would be a good team for at least the next few years.
  11. I did that once. Very lucky not to get hurt. Depends how hot it actually is. I imagine the type of bacteria is more important than sheer numbers.
  12. I would rather have Hart provided he is not going to prolong his recovery time or make things worse. It seems like he is already getting PA. It takes hitters much less time than pitchers to get their timing down and get ready for the season.
  13. The part that really sucks is when Lucroy doesn't get a full day off or is playing day after night games because he only gets days off when Wolf pitches. Lucroy needs more days off or he is going to burn out again. Let's wait and see if Wolf gets a personal catcher this year. He's been pitching to Lucroy this spring.
  14. Seems pretty obvious to me, Lucroy stole some of Wolf's classic Star Wars figures.
  15. The Cards also had a pretty poor streak before that. Really I would put the Brewers at about 90 and the Cards at 88ish last year. Not a 6 game difference. I do think we may be better this year than last. I think our upgrades at SS and 3B more than offset our downgrade at 1B. It is easy to forget just how bad McGehee was last year.
  16. They didn't. The Brewers were not a 96 win talent team.
  17. I was thinking about it and I am not sure it actually buys out any FA years. He was a rookie in 2010, and has had one full season in 2011. A 5 year deal would cover this year plus 4 more which would only be through his arby years. He might be a Super 2 but that would only add an arby year not take away a year of club control. Unless I am forgetting something in the new CBA.
  18. I guess I am not sure why that is a problem since he plays catcher.
  19. Marlins with lasers on their heads.
  20. Catchers in general are below average hitters. He has been a little worse than the average NL catcher hitting but not by much. AVG / OBP / SLG / OPS AL 0.238/0.305/0.391/0.696 NL 0.250/0.320/0.388/0.708 MLB 0.245/0.313/0.389/0.702 Lucroy 0.265/0.313/0.391/0.703
  21. That isn't entirely true. Lucroy spent all of 2009 in AA. If I remember correctly, he went to AA in 2009 because Salome was in AAA.
  22. On the other hand I think there is a good chance that the Brewers have a better overall infield this year. I think people are underestimating just how bad McGehee was last year and forgetting how much playing time he got. I don't think the Reds will be hurt to much by losing their closer. Where it will probably hurt the most is their bullpen depth not at the end of games.
  23. The Brewers probably didn't really have 96 win talent last year so the drop of 10 games is partly Fielder but mostly just playing back towards their talent level.
  24. Move Morgan up to 6th if you want to take advantage of his speed. He is a better hitter than either Lucroy or Gonzalez.
  25. I would like the idea of Gamel #2 much much better. His gap/HR power with Weeks OBP and speed would be awesome at the top of the lineup. Morgan is wasted at the top.
