  1. Losing to the 76ers and the subsequent moves started the death of the Bucks for me. By the time Karl left I was done with them.
  2. That is a very brief summary. The story isn't Wheel of Time complex or confusing but there are a lot of characters with first person POV in the books at various times.
  3. The Men's hockey Badgers average more than that in just attendance every year.
  4. The defensive metrics don't necessarily show what has happened or how he has performed. It is like looking at a few days of hitting stats and saying a guy has done well when he may have hit the ball well but hit right at defenders.
  5. Bring on the rain. I would rather face the Phillies with Morgan and Hart available.
  6. As has been repeatedly explained, the defensive stats don't necessarily show what has happened.
  7. Here is a recent article on FieldFX. I have not had time to read it all yet. Honestly doesn't look to promising that there will be public access.
  8. Magic powers must be used for good.
  9. I think I am starting to lean towards laziness and Betancout's problem as well. He made a couple nice plays so we know he has some ability but has looked slow on several other plays.
  10. I have to admit I am a little concerned with how little we have of value to trade. That is what is really aggravating. We could have signed a FA without giving up anything. If Betancourt was limited to only playing against LHP that would be huge. He still isn't a good hitter but he is much better against LHP. Punto would have been a nice platoon partner for Betancourt.
  11. So you were ready to hand the SS spot to Luis Cruz after one good year following a career of mediocrity in the minors, but you also discredit small sample sizes?Cruz'z value over Betancourt is not in his offense but in his glove. I wouldn't expect him to hit better than Betancourt. Nothing any player has done statistically to this point in the season should really be given much weight.
  12. Punto, is the one most frequently pointed to, but as some have pointed out Punto has been a utility man with limited innings at SS and it is fair to point out that Punto is currently injured (as happens a lot with older players). What position would the Brewers be in if Punto had been our starter going into the season? Luis Cruz at SS with CC as the backup and YunE-6 cut. Much better off in other words.
  13. Punto would have at the very least provided above average defense.
  14. I wonder about the flipping of Betancourt and Kotsay in the order. Really means nothing but they were flipped.
  15. Punto signed with the Cardinals for less than we gave Kotsay. He may or may not have been an option however with us he would have had a chance at being a fulltime starter while he is a backup for the Cardinals. We knew Betancourt would suck and he has. The frustration is that Melvin had most of the offseason to do something and did nothing. Punto is hurt now but there was no way to predict that.
  16. Holy crap. I just watched a replay of the Braun dive and he wasn't even within 3 feet of catching it.
  17. Yeah that's the issue. There are several easily fixable "we're just fine" things going on right now. Think back to one of the first games where Kotsay made that diving catch and the umpires thought he trapped the ball. Morgan or Boggs probably make that catch easy and it's an out. Trip R has pretty consistently made bad lineup decisions and Melvin has given him lots sharp objects to play with. I really don't see Gomez as much of a problem, yet. When Hart comes back and Morgan's healthy if he's still #2 in the lineup and playing against RHP, then we have big issues.
  18. The only thing I will say about the game is that I told the guy watching the game with me that Gallardo should be facing his last batter while he was facing Desmond. He was at 100+ pitches and he didn't have good control. He gave up a GR double to Desmond and a HR to Rodriguez, 3 more runs. Just goes to show how much a manager can do to hurt a pitcher's ERA.
  19. Don't drive angry.
  20. logan: read some of the posts, people are blaming him Some blame but I see the bulk of the blame being heaped on Fielder. Rightfully so.
  21. I was going to say he obviously hasn't been reading the rest of the posts if he thinks Betancourt is getting the blame for the loss. Calling names though is a great way to make friends and definitely adds to the discussion.
  22. Hopefully FieldFX data is used to replace BIS data soon. Hardy actually had pretty good range. He just wasn't fast so he looked like he didn't have range but he anticipated and positioned himself well.
  23. FIP normalizes LOB% and BABIP more or less. xFIP normalizes HR% as well. None of them are perfect but FIP is just an odd choice to use for WAR. ERA tells what happened better than FIP and xFIP shows true skill level better than FIP so why use the middle one. I don't think it is to odd that they don't use ERA since they are trying to separate out defense. I don't think it gives you an accurate value though.
