  1. Fox Soccer Channel has an English Premiere League review show that, I think, is really good, because all they show when they show highlights is the starting line up for each teams, and then the game feed. No anchors adding in their own personality and catchy phrases to a highlight, just the game. However, I can't see this working for American sports because English soccer announcers don't stray from announcing the game as American announcers do, so the constant stream of dialogue is about the game, not about all the filler material announcers talk about.
  2. Does anyone know how home field advantage works for the NLDS? Assuming the Brewers are the 3rd best team, which games would be home in the NLDS?
  3. Did you have to take a speech class in high school? Add public speaking to my list, I completely forgot about that. A speech class was required for my high school and I hated every second of it. Luckily I had it early in the morning so nobody paid much attention since we started at like 7:30 and everybody was tired.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif Ironically, I don't mind giving speeches. Sitting in my desk before I need to get up is a little nerve racking, but once I get up there I kinda remind myself that the only person really paying attention is the teacher and I feel alright. I even played a part in a skit for a homecoming thing and acted in front a gym full of the community and have played a solo for jazz band in a concert and wasn't too nervous about those things. Something about having such a large crowd in front of me and it feels impersonal and anonymous rather than in an isolated classroom or social gathering.
  4. Talking on the phone. I can't do the constant conversation thing. Also, talking in front of a group of people more than 5 or 6. Even if it's my close friends. I have trouble being the center of attention.
  5. MSNBC is replaying their news broadcast from 9/11 and wow. Only being 13 at the time, I didn't realize how little I actually understood about this until I started watching this.
  6. I was in 8th grade art class and I remember hearing nothing about it all that hour, but I had a weird feeling that something had happened cause near the end of the class it felt like people were talking about something. After that class got out and we were all walking the halls, everyone else in my middle school was saying stuff about it and we watched it on TV in my science class, but only until class started. We watched more of it in my English class. That day was supposed to be the first practice for the middle school soccer team, but we canceled it. My brother was also supposed to have a high school soccer game but that got canceled as well. I can remember a week later going to my brother's soccer game, which was at night, and seeing a few planes fly and wondering in my mind if they would fly into something. Still to this day, every time I hear a plane while I'm in a building my mind wonders if it will crash into my building or not. Guess it's my way of always remembering 9/11.
  7. M Skjellyfetti, you beat me to the Ronaldo picture http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Johnny Estrada and running should not be included in the same thought ever.
  9. and the same pitch to gross was a ball. it must be a wide inside corner. however, rickie does stand on top of the plate, so that could be a factor too.
  10. None of the above. I'm going to Chicago to watch the United States play Brazil in an international soccer friendly. But of course I'll be getting Brewer updates on my cell phone via Google.
  11. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w146/metallica4life05/adu.jpghttp://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w146/metallica4life05/mathis.jpg
  12. Once King enters a game to see how he fairs, most likely.
  13. But I thought ESPN was the worldwide leader in sports? Maybe they're right and we're just wrong. Maybe that was Carlos Villanueava's first big league start.
  14. I live on a farm so I started working on that when I was 11 or 12 and still work there when I'm home from school. I also ref a lot of soccer games in the summer and early fall as well. My experiences with reffing tell me that a) people care way, way, way too much about an 11 year old soccer game and b) no one knows the rules of soccer very well. My favorite line is from parents who will yell at the refs about what call they should have made and then turn to someone standing by them and say "That is the rule, right?" Ah, ignorance is bliss.
  15. Sheets' pitch count is rising. Hopefully he'll be under 80 thru 4.....
  16. That's one way to stop people from stealing bases, picking them off! Well done Sheeter.
  17. It looked a little outside. Estrada may have tried to bring it back in the zone.
  18. I think I like Brewers Str8t Up more than the pregame show. FSN should have technical difficulties more often.
  19. A playoff worked in Major League. And Major League was filmed in Milwaukee. I think the forces are with the Brewers. I think the Brewers are stepping up their game. Ever since the return of Sheets, the team has the look that they are more focused and driving towards the playoffs. It seems like every player is stepping up and really giving their best.
  20. In McClung's two appearances, he looks like a Turnbow who can consistently control his breaking ball. Of course, they were only a batter apiece, but still provides some hope that he's another quality arm.
  21. Are you positive that this wasn't an instance where Uecker was joking around? Cause he can have some dry humor at times.
  22. After this loss I feel like shaving my head.......
  23. I haven't had a hair cut since January and I don't want to cut my hair until the Brewers are done. It's getting tough because my hair is passed my nose, but I still will hold out until the Brewers are officially out of it. I'd throw in the beard too, but I'd prefer not to look like so much of a hippie.
  24. Hopefully, the program guide is correct. That doesn't happen often with FSN Wisconsin on DirecTV
