if I was a woman I would be all over this!

so would Roberts be looking for a 4/$40 kind of extension then? That makes it a little less attractive. some of the comments on mlbtraderumors.com were suggesting that we send the Orioles either Gamel or Braun, whichever one we don't see as our 3B of the future, haha.

I don't really want to give up on Rickie, but if we did, i'd be ok with doing it to get Roberts. he's only 30 so he'll have a few good years left. What kind of contract would he demand after free agency though? I wouldn't want to deal for him without having an extension all but in place.

I just about threw my laptop across the room when I read that. Villy throws 10 pitches, looks FANTASTIC and you pull him because it's 'not a save situation'??? He managed to completely kill the momentum we had from our homestand and start this very important road trip out on a complete downer. This is about a big a Yosting as I can remember. Inexcusable.

i am terrified of what this loss could mean for this road trip. to go from a win with Sheets dominating to a horribly deflating loss could mean the difference between a 4-2 trip and a 2-4 trip in my mind. not good.

when you get down into the late teens rounds, how signable are these guys? i can't imagine all of them will ink deals, but what % usually will join the organization?

I don't really know anything about either of these guys but i've always been kind of surprised at how condescending they seem in the mailbags and chats. It sometimes seems as though the only reason they post them is to take shots at readers and the questions they ask. I can understand if they're sick of all the Fire Ned/Trade Bill Hall questions, but even the legitimate questions seem to get flippant responses.

yeah, I suppose that makes sense. having to get our bullpen guys some work as opposed to getting them some rest is a foreign concept.
  12. MillerParkSouth
why waste Villy here instead of just having Tavarez close it out?
  13. MillerParkSouth
haha, that is exactly what i was talking about.
  14. MillerParkSouth
well it'd be nice if Tavarez could settle down here so we can just have him go 2. he's got a nice big cushion, just get some outs!
  15. MillerParkSouth
does anyone know if Bernie went down the slide after Corey's inside the parker?
  16. MillerParkSouth
awesome to see the shut down 1-2-3 inning out of Parra after we put up a crooked number. only 11 pitches too which is even better.
  17. MillerParkSouth
I hope Villy is prepared to go 2 or 3 innings today, Manny is throwing a ton of pitches so far.
  18. MillerParkSouth
Branyan's at bat - 8 pitches Kendall+Counsel - 4 pitches not the grittiness I expect from those last two.
  19. MillerParkSouth
Corey FLIES into a DP? that doesn't sound pretty.
  20. MillerParkSouth
Melvin wasn't 'motivated' to trade Turnbow either. I really don't think he trades Hall unless someone blows him away with an offer and I really can't see that given Hall's current production.
  21. MillerParkSouth
if Billy produces again, he'll have his starting job back in no time. To me it's like Turnbow asking to be traded. If he would have just shut his yap and focused on getting results, he could be closing again right now like he wanted. Instead he's getting blown up in AAA. Hopefully Billy doesn't go that route and can be a full time player for us again in July.
  22. MillerParkSouth
well my Bill Hall jersey may be retired after barely a year of service time! I never understand why players go through the press with stuff like this when it really makes getting what they want (a trade out of town) much more difficult. There is no reason to trade him unless he becomes a distraction. Branyan has had a hot start but he's not an everyday 3B and i'd rather not see a Dillon platoon. If Billy is unhappy with being platooned then he should remember how to hit righties!
  23. MillerParkSouth
are you serious Solomon??? If this guy is not the closer when Gagne comes back that would be absurd! way to bail out the horrible D!
  24. MillerParkSouth
2nd and 3rd, nobody out, zero runs and somehow i'm not surprised. simple, fundamental baseball there, just put the ball into the outfield and we're winning. this is the kind of stuff that drives me nuts about this team. it seems like they sometimes fail to realize that they don't need to swing for the fences every time they're at the plate!

good to see we just need to make contact to take the lead and we have our two biggest whiffers up.
