  1. Final: Dunedin (Jays) 4, Brevard County 2 Brevard wins 11 hits to 4, but loses the games... Brevard Box Score: Mat's homer was just his first of the month, but it brought his July OPS up to .800 www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._breafa_1 Brevard Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._breafa_1
  2. Jim--- Thanks to you maan, you do an amazing job on the link report...it's a helluva work load, bu you carry it well....we all owe you one...or 7
  3. i read the entirity of snopes.com one time when i was working as a receptionist at a very un-busy real estate office...it was mildly amusing...
  4. duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude... how am i going to woot off while im pretending to be ron weasley at barnes and noble?
  5. i think he'd struggle to outhit mench as a regular...
  6. Basebaall is still huge in the south...but you rarely seee kids playing a pick up game...i believe it has something to do with the perceived cost: a soccer ball is like $15 bucks... a baseball bat, glove, and ball are well over $100---sometimes well over $500 of course, the baseball crap can be purchased on the cheap, but most people buy nice stuff...because of this, you'll rarely eet a ten year old who doesn't play organized ball that even owns a bat, glove, whatever... here's what i say: use your influence as a much as possible...when i worked at an after school center, i got 4 gloves and a bat really cheap and we played baseball almost every day...when i was a pe coach, we played wiffle ball in the gym after weight training every day...kids still enjoy baseball...its fun...its just that basketball and soccer "seem" easier and less stressful, so that's what most kids think of first
  7. University of Georgia, 2004 with BA in English and Geography University of North caorlina - Greensboro, 2007 M.Ed in English education with Licensure i worked in the computer portion of the bookstore at UGA until i had to work a 12 hour shift during a football game and spent the entire 12 hours selling souvenirs...i quit after that... i then administered the computer labs in the geography department for a year and a half in grad school i helped run an after school program for elementary kids at a private school---then i taught high school PE and health for a semester---then i helped run a study hall for student atheletes at the University---followed up by not working at all while i was student teaching... now i'm teaching high school english in columbus georgia... why are me and dhonks the on ly two who didnt go to school in wisconsin? seems like this always happens...
  8. sell it...or give it to the hall...but since the'd have the bat, plate, uniform, etc...i'd probably hock it...
  9. Stephen Chapman with 15 homers now...steve has the ability to play a good cf, so his power is a huge benefit...he should finish the year with 20-22 which is really a big number for single A...he's got 30 homer potential and he plays slick d and runs fast...the only dissapointment from chappy this year has been the lack of wlks, which while not totally absent are a bit lower than they need to be, bringing his OBP down a bit...
  10. I don't agree with al--- but i can see the logic: Manny's going to run out of innings in august if he keeps starting...he's also been a coossal injury risk at every moment of his c areer...even after that, he's currently 8th on the SP depth chart... i think Manny will get a look at some point in 2007 or 2008 in the rotation...but he couldnt have picked a worse moment to make the show as a starting pitcher... however, depth rocks...so this is a great situation for us as fans...
  11. I hope nothing is seriously bad for spurling and that sheets is fine... that said...i couldnt be more excited about Manny finally hitting the bigs...he's been around forever and he's still one of the most exciting prospects in the system...
  12. you should ban everyone, then hold an essay contest to see which 20 posters get to be the founding members of bf.net 2.0
  13. so wait, was i fat or a metrosexual? should i shave my sideburns?

  15. let me start by saying that i know who gorman thomas is... ok, i lived in milwaukee in 90-91...that'ss when i became a brewerfan...before that, like everyone else from south of the mason dixon line, i was a braves fan...i'm glad i was alive when the crew played in the world series...but i think calling someone a fake brewers fan because they don't cry when they think about don money is short sighted...i've been following this team since i was 10...that's 16 years...and i dont care about gorman thomas...am I a fake brewers fan? the victor santos guy i understand...but i dont think its fair to pick on people who like the current brewers more than the early 80's brewers...i'll take dalee murphy over anyone not nameed paul molitor who ever played for the crew... though ben sheets is getting close to replacing the murph in second...
  16. ---Cole Gillespie is still batting over .400 in July, which could possibly mae up for his batting .191 in July ---Lou Palmisano on pace for about 15 homes in Huntsville...i know he's cooled off lately, but so long as he hasn't upset anyone, he could still be the brewers starting catcher in 2009 ---Jeffress gives up 3 runs...but he k'd 5, and he only allowed 6 base runners through 5, even though he walked threee...for a kid who's only a year removed from high school, this is pretty remarkable.. --Derek Miller is having a prretty good start tonight in Huntsville...derek has been lost in the shadow of will inman, steve garrison, and others, but he's pitched well every where he's been...he's 25, so you won't see him on any top prospect lists...but he has value to the brewers---he could easily be included in whatever rade Melvin's working on...
  17. you guys realize that claudio vargas was on the nationals last year and they dfa'd him, right? i'm pretty sure they dont want him back...
  18. I think this is really cool myself, so long as people are willing to go through with it...as you guys know, Jim and I have access to lots of the players and other people in the organization, so we could probably help people arrange to maybe even get in touch with some of the prospects...i think a seperate forum is a good idea---i used to hate all the extra forums, but i think that war is over, and i lost... we definitely need a strict set of rules...and people have to be willing to keep up with it or risk losing their prospect to someone else... and finally, if your prospect gets lowered on the P50, you should consider it your fault for not pumping them up enough http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. anyone else buy Against Me! New Wave yesterday? I find it pretty good...for a band that's supposed to be anarchists, they sure are drifting towards the middle...that said, they've always been fairly poppy, there's just a a lot more polish on the production this time around...enjoyable...but not the same band that recorded reinventing axl rose... haven't listened to spoon yet, but i bought it yesterday..
  20. Not a fan of saltalamacchia at all...so i wouldnt really like this deal, but it would be a pretty impressive haul for Melvin...i would have to imagine that the brewers would be throwing in a lower level prospect along with bush...
  21. Final: Brevard County 5, Palm Beach (Cards) 3 Brevard gets 17 men on base, but only scores 5 runs... MILB Game Wrap: Perez, Manatees sink Cards Yohannis Perez went 4-for-5 and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning as Brevard County defeated visiting Palm Beach, 5-3, on Monday. The 24-year-old shortstop singled and scored in the first and opened the fifth with a double before coming home on a sacrifice fly by Angel Salome to snap a 3-3 tie. Perez added an RBI base hit in the sixth and another single in the eighth for a season-high four hits. Freddy Parejo drove in a run and Michael Bell and Cole Gillespie chipped in two hits and an RBI apiece in the 14-hit attack for the Manatees (12-7). Brevard County starter David Welch (5-2) gave up three runs -- two earned -- on six hits while striking out three over five innings to win his fourth straight decision. Mike McClendon allowed a hit and fanned two over four scoreless frames to notch his first save. James Rapoport went 3-for-4 and scored on Brandon Buckman's single in the first, and Brandon Yarbrough and A.J. Van Slyke each added an RBI for the Cardinals (10-8) . Palm Beach starter Trey Hearne (4-7) surrendered four runs on 10 hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. -- Marissa Rega/MLB.com Brevard County Box Score: Yohannis Perez has filled Alcides Escobar's shoes almost completely in BC. Perhaps it was a bit too ambitious of the Crew to start him at AA, but it was worth a try. Glad to see there's something there. Cole Gillespie has got to be the streakiest player in the system...perhaps a sustained hot streak will get him to AA after all. Not sure why McClendon was in relief tonight, but he continued to be unhittable. I'd be tempted to promote Mike to AA just to see if he can continue his successful run there... www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb..._pbcafa_breafa_1 Brevard County Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._pbcafa_breafa_1 Edit - accidental emoticon
  22. Miyazaki goes without saying...Castle in the Sky is one of my all time favorites...but there's been others...Monster house was essentially a mid 1980's horror movie right down to the old style mountain dew 2 liter...that had to be more aimed at 25-35 year olds than crap like madagascar...
