  1. What did everyone think of the Block Party today? No Fielder, was still on the list last night before bed...checked this morning when I woke up and 6 and his name was off, so I waited and didn't go til later because I just wanted McClung on a 8x10 I took in St. Louis last year. Cameron was missing also and apparently no one knew that until the players actually showed up...bummer for those in that line.
  2. Saw them half price (since they had red ones this year) at the Brewers store at Brookfield Square last week, not sure how many they had.
  3. Anyone know where I could get a Villanueva 8x10, other than ebay? Would Waukesha Sportscards have one? What time do you guys think you'd have to be at the block party to get Fielder?
  4. Might be a bigger issue than this, but blowing out the fans with compressed air always did the trick for me, atleast for a few weeks. You'd be surprised how much dust can get in there, especially if you haven't blown it out in the past.
  5. There's a guy that is at every single game I've ever been to at MP and he stands by the visiting bullpen wearing the opposing team's hat and sometimes a shirt, always trying to get balls from the bullpen. That's not the HY is it?
  6. I'll 6th the recommendation...
  7. Yeah, unfortunately even for the playoffs the Admirals aren't that big of a draw. It's so much more exciting when atleast the whole bottom bowl is full. As far as parking, the ones close to the BC are usually $10, but I think there might be a lot that's $5 that is a few blocks south of the BC on 6th. Not positive though.
  8. Yeah, you'll definitely be fine getting tickets walking up...the upper level almost certainly won't be open for Saturday's game I wouldn't think so you'll get something decent no matter what.
  9. Admirals win the series 4-0. Anyone who hasn't been out to an Ads game this year should give it a try once the second round starts...
  10. I'm not an expert by any means, but just because you have the money to pay for the house doesn't mean you should necessarily do it. Considering you have enough money available, one option would be to take out the mortgage and invest the rest of the money that you would have spent on the house. It depends on what kind of return you could get, how long you would be willing to leave it invested, etc. If you can figure out what % down payment you would want to do, what the interest payments would be, then you could decide if you'd be able to find an investment that could possibly cover that interest payments and in the end leave you with more money. It's been a little while since I had a real estate class, but if you think about buying (for example) a $200,000 house, fully paid for, it would appreciate at say 4% a year (maybe not right now though with the way things are). Or your other option would be to put $50,000 down on the house and invest the other $150,000 in something else that could possibly return at a higher rate, while your house is still appreciating as well. I probably explained this really poorly, and I know it's not 100% spot-on, but I'd recommend actually talking to a professional about this and seeing if it's something that might work out to your benefit.
  11. Yeah I should have phrased that better, definitely didn't mean it in that sense.
  12. Yeah, thanks TLB. After just typing it out, it obviously makes sense to pursue the full-time job, regardless. I would hope that if it falls through, I'd be able to land a job doing something, even if it meant delivering pizzas or something like that.
  13. Here's the story...I'm graduating in May and have yet to line up a full-time job. However, I do have a position saved for me at the Parks and Rec department where I've worked the last few summers on the grounds crew. The issue is, my boss at Park and Rec absolutely hates it when people back out right before the start of summer. He probably shouldn't because it's not exactly a position where it's hard to find someone qualified, but he still does anyway. So last week, since I hadn't heard anything from any of the interviews I've had for full-time employment, I called him up and told him that it looks like I'll be back for the summer. Sure enough two days later I get a call for a second interview with a company. The second interview isn't until the 17th, but the form to officially commit to Park and Rec is due on the 15th. I don't want to burn any bridges at Park and Rec in case this job doesn't pan out, but I also don't want to leave him hanging. My major is finance though, and I'm thinking the process is going to be quite competitive at this company and who knows if I'll get it or not, so I want to have something lined up to make sure I have some sort of paycheck every other week. Any thoughts?
  14. I'd love to be in for the Sheets ball...thanks Pedro
  15. Looks great. Where did you get the frames for the newspapers? Are those just the ones with the clear plastic and plastic edges that you put around it? I've been looking for that size for awhile and haven't had any luck...
  16. The closet cleaning continues...came across a 59fifty Beloit Snappers hat that I got as a gift a a year or two ago that I've never worn because it was too small. Size 7 1/4. If anyone is interested let me know. I'd love to trade it for a '08 JJ or '08 Braun bobblehead, otherwise PM me with an offer. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b4e153928609860473946eea3624900b8f7b2ae.jpg
  17. Anyone know if I would have any luck at all trying Sheets through the mail, and if so what address I could send it to, I'd assume his agent, but I haven't been able to find that.
  18. I had to find this thread to vent. I had a seven game streak going, and picked Baylor over Georgetown in the NIT. Then my roommate convinced me that that was the wrong pick, and I switched to Georgetown. Of course, Georgetown lost a close one. Since that game my streak is at 11. So, if I get that one pick right, my streak would be at 19. Anyways, I realize that had I got that one pick right, my strategy would have been different for the next few picks, so it probably doesn't end up at 19 anyways. But it's the premise.
  19. I went down there last August with my girlfriend for the a two game series when the Brewers were playing. We only went to one game, but it was definitely a good time. We sat in the right field bleachers (section 508), and I think the tickets ended up being $25-30 each, including fees for ordering online. I have no complaints...the bleachers were field level and had a decent view of everything except plays up against the right field wall. I'd definitely recommend any of the bleachers in Busch though if you're looking to stay on the cheaper side. We got to the game when the gates opened and checked out all the levels of the stadium, and also sat down along the 3rd base line in left field while the Brewers warmed up throwing before they took batting practice. Got some awesome pictures that way. I don't know who the Cards are playing the weekend you're going, but if you apply yourself you should be able to get some autographs or a ball if you wanted down there. Just go early. We also sat in the left field bleachers while BP was going on and came really close to getting a few BP balls off ones over the fence. You should be fine wearing your Brewers gear, especially if it's not against the Brewers. The fans around us were all pretty cool, and if you have anyone in your section wearing Cubs logos, they'll definitely garner the most attention so the Cards fans will forget about you anyways. If you have time I'd recommend going to the stadium early in the afternoon and taking a stadium tour. It was $10 each, lasted an hour an a half. Got to see all the standards like the radio booths, etc. Since we took the early tour though, we got to go down in the visiting dugout and then walk around the warning track for a few minutes behind home plate and got some really cool pictures that way if you're into that at all. If you think of any specifics to ask, let me know. ewizabeff, if you guys haven't looked at hotels or anything yet, I'd recommend the Millenium Hotel. Rates were reasonable if you get the room through hotels.com or something, and it was halfway between the arch and the stadium. Location couldn't have been better, also right off the freeway and easy to find. A ton of Brewers fans hanging out in the lobby areas too.
  20. Thanks for doing this...I'd love to be in for the Prince bobblehead.
  21. One more reason to like Chris Capuano: sent out a 8x10 to Maryvale last Monday, got it back today signed.
  22. That'd be great if you could look into it, I'd appreciate it. Don't they still do the full set giveaways at the game once a year (14 and under, obviously)?
