  1. IIRC, Ortiz became an American citizen in the last year or two. I would think that he would have had to provide his birth information with an even tougher degree of scrutiny than if he were merely applying for a visa. Interesting article though.
  2. Does anyone on the board have any insight into what (if any) percentage of Riske's contract would be covered by insurance? I am guessing that it would cover a decent amount of money which hopefully we could recoup and put into other aspects of our player payroll down the road.
  3. too bad we used up our catchers and don't have anyone to pinch run for Rivera at second.
  4. alright JJ... this is the guy that we want. Not sure how the Cards didn't double up Rivera without being able to watch it. Just seems odd.
  5. I walked away for a minute and Hall is in for Hardy? What's the story?
  6. I'm loving former Brewer Jerry Reuss in this video.
  7. Does the blame go to McGehee for missing that tag? Lets hope that one run isn't costly.
  8. Dante Bichette for Kevin Reimer. I know that Bichette played in Colorado, but to trade a young outfielder with power for one washed up season of a fairly worthless Kevin Reimer can only be viewed with some regret IMO. I know that we are years removed from that trade, but still. Also, they were known quantities, but it would have been nice to have Eldred/Valentin in virtually any capacity instead of John Snyder/Jamie Navarro. Eh.
  9. I don't have time to look it up right now, but didn't we get Nelson Cruz in a trade with OAK?
  10. I highly doubt that these answers are helping Pudster with his bet.
  11. I will second Invader's post above. Braun has emerged as a team leader, and while he is likely a naturally confident guy, perhaps he feels that a leader is a guy who speaks out at times both on and off the field. I am also guessing that the Brewers are a bit more aware of how rattling the other team with a bit of cockiness can work to their advantage. Not only with intimidation, but I'll take the HBPs and perhaps getting into a pitcher's head in exchange for a bit of an attitude.
  12. Just an FYI, the Mark Clayton is now gone. All the rest are still available if anyone is interested.
  13. Yes they are, and I also have a COA for all items.
  14. I am just looking for offers. If anyone is interested, just send a PM and propose something reasonable.
  15. Could the announcer have been Merle Harmon? Not sure on his years here.
  16. Like many on this board, I am also in the process of moving/cleaning and would like to get rid of a few pieces of football memorabilia. Ideally, I would like to avoid EBay, so I will offer these items to members here first. I have the following, and if anyone is interested, PM me with what you think is a fair price. -16x20 Brett Favre autographed picture 8x10 Autographed Pictures of: -Emmit Smith -Sterling Sharpe -Mark Clayton -Mark Chmura (comes with plaque) -Bruce Wilkerson -Don Beebe -Brett Favre -Autographed magazine cover-shot of Robert Brooks (he's sitting in the stands after a Lambeau Leap) I may have a few more, as I said, I'll post items on here as I decide what to take with me to a new place.
  17. Manny Parra has "no hitter stuff" according to Brian Anderson. I have no problem with BA, but isn't it just a bit ridiculous to say something like this about a guy who doesn't have a win yet? Thinking that "Parra has get the win tonight stuff" might be a bit more appropriate.
  18. My guess is the guy pointing would have to be the manager. I am trying not to cheat here.... but I think the manager is '75 was Del Crandall?
  19. I have heard of hot-footing someone as a prank in the dugout, but never hot pantsing. I am guessing that his reaction was fairly priceless.
  20. How could I not be aware of this until now?
