  1. I think you'd probably end up using both bats, but I don't really see any daring escapes for you like in the movies. The movies only show the survivors. They don't show the people who are sleeping when the zombies get them. Pleasent dreams.
  2. Thanks Dadofandrew. I didn't get the Worchestire sauce in time so I'm going to have to try it next sunday. This Sunday I whipped up my own marinade spur of the moment. It was 1/2 Pickle Juice, 1/2 Budweiser, then put in Tobasco sauce and Cayne Pepper. I would not try it. The chicken just ends up just tasting like chicken with pickle juice. I'll have to let you know how yours turns out next week DoA. 1. Rwa12's chicken marinade (1 part white wine:1 part Soy Sauce: Some Sesame seed oil-the more the better) 2. My own chicken marinade (1 part pickle juice:1 part beer:Tobasco:Red Canye pepper) No Bueno
  3. When we lose on the road like last night our pitchers only have to throw 8 innings.
  4. Everyone better come, otherwise I'll pose as you and start ranting about the importance of RBI's for measuring a hitter and Wins for measuring a pitcher.
  5. Maybe this move was made more to help our struggling AAA team (2-10). We don't want our future learning how to be losers. But seriously, this move does not hurt us at all. I do not understand the fear of him being called up. If he is called up he is just a stop gap so McClung can stay in the long relief role.
  6. I'm more worried about the lack of walks. Not really a big deal, but he's been swinging at some pretty junky pithches. He's to good a hitter not to figure it out though. Just make sure you don't blame his struggles at the plate on his learning a new defensive position.
  7. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8014372/Rays'-Reyes-Tasered-twice-in-B-Day-bar-fight Hopefully no Brewers get involved in these types of shenanigans
  8. Is anybody else having problems with the Brewers homepage on mlb.com? I use Safari as a Web browser and I can not look at anything on the site without it automatically refreshing. This has been happening since the beginning of the season and is a huge no-no in Web site design. Of course they have never done a good job at mlb.com with there video clips and other design issues. I hope they fix it before I need to get another Browser. Thank goodness for Brewerfan.net.
  9. Ha ha ha. I just spent 30 minutes reading about a fake arcade machine.... or maybe it's real.
  10. So I was thinking about an idea related to this thread last night (admittedly after quite a few adult beverages). I have dated a good handful of women, and they have enjoyed/put up with my baseball-filled summers to varying degrees. And yet, I haven't found one that truly loved or understood the game. Am I aiming too high here? For those of us who are eligible bachelors and interested in meeting women who truly appreciate and share our mutual obsession with the Brewers and baseball, does anyone have any good advice to offer? The more I think about it, the more I think its a must for a girlfriend of mine to really enjoy the thing I enjoy most. Any thougths? Well maybe I can give you this girls number then since I'm "not feeling it." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I did just send her a text about 30 minutes ago and now we're texting back and forth (dumb 20 cent text messages). I was debating whether or not I should, but I took the advice that I can't just be the guy that doesn't call again. She is shoe shopping right now. Maybe for baseball cleats since she is going to start softball league soon, maybe for high-heeled oh la la shoes. I don't know her that well.
  11. I marinade with worchestire sauce, mustard, and some standard BBQ sauce, not a whole lot of each. Marinade overnight, 48 hours is even better. I then sprinkle with Al's rub, which is really just garlic powder, rotissiere chicken seasoning, and a few of my other favorites in a spice jar I'm trying this recipe this weekend and was wondering if I could get some ratios with the worchestire, mustard, and BBQ sauce. Also I was wondering if "Al's rub" is really important and what the "few of your other favorites are." Otherwise I'll probably just use garlic powder sinhce I'm not sure what the other seasoning's are.
  12. Does she have interest in any activities that are not generally associated with drinking? Ummmmmm, I guess not. How many activitis do you like that are not generally asscociated with drinking though? Bad idea. If you don't want to see her, then don't. If you don't want to date her, then don't. Don't be the guy who just stops calling. Be a man and tell her that you just don't feel the chemistry, and make an official break that is very clear and honest. Official breaks don't work where I am right now. I'm not a college student at Madison anymore. She tends bar at my favorite local hangout. There is only like 4 bars I really like. I suppose it will probably work out still if I just "man up." She seems like the type of girl that would understand. The most important thing is often tolerance. I aggree completely, and I'm one of the most tolerant guys in the world.... except when it comes to people who think wins are an important stat when evaluating pitchers. Go Salomon Torres, and screw people who think wins area big deal.
  13. She is also a big Packer fan and shoots pool which I also enjoy. I need to find a homeless man to give me stock tips apparently. I've been out with her a few times and sometimes I get the feeling like she is saying she likes stuff more then she does just to be more liked. It fels like she is playing me a little bit. I've decided not to call her back and if she calls me and wants to hang out I will. I guess I can't keep jumping from rock to rocks until there are no more rocks, but I don't want to stop an a jagged mean rock that's going to be hard to stop me from falling in the river. I said call me if you ever want to hang out or practice softball (she plays in a league). So the balls in her court I've decided. Thanks for all the advice everybody, a lot of it makes a lot of sense.
  14. When you start asking for serious relationship advice on BF.net and feeling like it's probably the best advice your going to get anywhere. When you go on a Beer run because of something posted in the beer thread.
  15. So I've met a girl and I've seen her a couple of times, but there is a more general question about relationships in this post. She likes baseball and sports in general and is very good looking, however looks are of no importance to me at all (we're all going to get ugly). I went out with her tonight and I just wasn't feeling it for some reason. I thought this would be my dream come true. Am I crazy? So here is the real question. Is loving the Brewers enough to base a relationship on? I know the immediate answer is no since everything else could be wrong, but everything else is not exactly wrong. There just isn't that "feeling." I always thought if I could find a girl who liked baseball as much as I did everything else would work out. I think it was the movie "High Fidelity" that conlcuded it's not what your like it's what you like. Watching every Brewers game and SportsCenter every night seems fine to me almost no matter what else happens.
  16. I was just reading the will CoCo be booed thread and it finally came to me when booing is determined to be acceptable by individuals. It all has to do with your expectations of a player. I guess expectations can vary, but I think there is one person we can all aggree on booing. Gary Sheffield. What expectations of ours did he not satisfy. He did not play the game to the best of his ability. i.e. purposely playing bad. CoCo has fufilled my expectations. He acquired six years service time and took his skills elsewhere. Did he betray the Brewers for money? Sure he did and I guess that's why some fans, who love the Brewers will probably boo. I will not boo however. I'm just happy he did the best job he could while he was here out of mutual benefit. He did not violate the "rules of the game" in my book. If I could only find a way to boo baseball's lack of a salary cap without boycotting baseball I would probably do that.
  17. I also liked the ending to no country for old men. I think the Coen brothers do that a lot. Make movies that are more "open to one's own interpretation." This leads some people to the conlclusion that they "just don't get it." However, no country for old men and Fargo were more defined and left slightly less open to interpretation then past movies. This leads to the happy medium you need to win Oscars. Provacative yet popular. They have to reach the medium where the movie is open to interpretation, but people can still talk about it and aggree on many things.
  18. Setting up the radio outside so I can hear Uecker while I grill. Having all the TVs in the house on the Brewer game. I need to hook a tv in the garage up to the dish. Also running inside to catch the replay after Uecker says it's an amazing play.
  19. Tonight's loss to the White Sox on national TV was embarassing.
  20. I think a big city is always open for business. If you want a hot dog at 4:30 am there should be something open to satisfy you if the city is big enoug. Big cities feed consumerism.
  21. Donnie Darko makes perfect sense to me. How to cope with death when it is an inevitability. A movie that has me all turned around right now is Barton Fink. Rosane's tv husband running down a hallway while flames erupt behind him carrying a shotgun shouting "I'll show you a life of the mind" has me scared of going to graduate school and I can't even explain why.
  22. I guess my main point was that due to some timely hits I have a feeling that Bill Hall and Tony Gwynn are rated higher than they should be. Bill Hall is an average hitter with some slighlty below average defense and some terrible base running intuition. He is not a potential MVP, potential All-star, or cornerstone of a franchise. Tony Gwynn is a skilled defensive outfielder with good speed who is a well below average hitter in my opinion. He is not a starter and I hope not a 4th outfielder on our team in the future unless we can get him for cheap. Gwynn should definetly not be hitting second in the order, but that is not his fault. I cheer hard for both players and hope they can achieve more then I give them credit for. Especially Hall since he seems like a great guy off the field. edit: This is not a judgement based on one game of course as almost no judgments should be and almost none of mine are. More like this game is an example of something larger, so please do not play the "only one game" and "rushing to judgement" card.
  23. I probably would have checked a lot of times and been like, "oh yeah, it's off line."
  24. rwa12, I tried your marinade for opening day. It smelled really strong and I didn't think it would be good, but it was excellent. I kept dripping on the marinade as I grilled it. Nice flavor. I'm looking for a new marinade for this Sunday. I'm thinking of going with a steak marinade this time if anybody has any ideas. Otherwise I'll probably try looking somewhere other then Brewerfan. 1. Rwa12's chicken marinade (1 part white wine:1 part Soy Sauce: Some Sesame seed oil-the more the better)
