    He supposedly throws a split fingered fastball along with his meatball fastball, but it sure doesn't seem effective. I remember reading in the Journal Sentinal about the reason we signed this guy was because he "throws strikes". Well he throws strikes alright. It's called batting practice.

    While that is true, he's the best we got. It's not good to have a ground ball closer with the worst infield defense in the majors. His 2.40 ERA isn't too shabby though.

    If we are going to pile on Gagne, we might as well pile on Riske. The guy has been flat out horrible this year. He has a 1.701 WHIP with a 5.31 ERA. I know it's only 42 innings, but COME ON! If you want to get into periphials, then look at his 27 K's in 42 innings. That is what you call pathetic. How much did we pay this guy? If I recall correctly, we are stuck with him for one more year.

    Well we all remember what happened with our buddy Mota who was DFA'd by 90% of this board including me. He's a pretty decent pitcher right now and he won us a couple games by getting out of some big time jams. Maybe Gagne can be the next Mota. Not likely though.

    Well if it's based on Sabathia's then I assume that one of the best players of this bunch will be gone. The same can be said if we make the playoffs.

    Isn't there a rule against players with a certain amount of service time that still have to clear waivers even though they have options? I seem to remember that coming up when Dave Bush got sent down this year.

    I will be going to my 26th and 27th games this weekend for the year and this rule doesn't really bother me. I think I brought in food like once this year. I enjoy the Miller Park food and even though it's a little more $$$, at least it tastes good. Completely off topic, I just turned PTI on and C.C. being interviewed. SWEET!

    There must be a ton of 20 pack holders this year compared to last year because last year we had gotten the playoff stuff in the mail by now for sure. They are probably making sure the 20 packers get first priority before they send out all of the 9 pack playoff offerings. By the way, it sucks that we have to put down that much money for that long. The Brewers must make a ton of interest off of holding our money.

    What a game of inches. We lost the game on 3 close plays: 1) Hall's homer that was about 2 feet short 2) Hardy being out at the plate 3) Weeks hit that was inches from being fair The baseball gods didn't want this one for us tonight.
