  1. The way Loe is pitching I wouldn't mind him getting the 5th spot over Bush or Cappy. And heck, why not give a few spot starts to a prospect like Mike Jones or Mark Rogers to see what they have against Big League hitting? At this point, there isn't much to lose, and I think we will see that in September if things continue as is.
  2. If at least one of Rogers/Jeffress/Jones/Gold/Neugenbeuer had panned out this thread wouldn't be so painful.
  3. Anyone have a scouting report on Loe? Does he throw in the 90's? What are his secondary pitches?
  4. I agree with that assessment as I saw him play 2B a few times for the TRats, but it's ok to dream isn't it? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. He's also a 20 year old in AA. Give him some time.
  6. Perhaps Weeks will move to the OF after one of Ferris/Lawrie are ready from the minor leagues in 2011 or 2012. Hopefully Lawrie can stick at 2B because his bat would play nicely there. And possibly Ferris could turn out to be a starting 2B in the Bigs. He has little power, but he does carry a decent OBP for Nashville.
  7. Kinda like Rickie Weeks and Manny Parra were what they were at age 24, right? [wrong] Your logic is flawed my friend. No player has reached their peak until at least age 27 according to most statisticians including Bill James himself so there is plenty of room for improvement in Gomez's pitch recognition, IMO.
  8. It's probably based on projected games played at the DH position or the opening day lineups.
  9. Gomez will see more fastballs if he figures out how to minimize swinging at junk, and that is a correctable flaw in most professional baseball players' swings especially at Gomez's age.
  10. With every start Suppan makes, the Brewers projected win total drops so Melvin, please just DFA or Pen the guy ASAP and go with 2 better arms in Narveson/Parra or half of the Nashville rotation. Cripes this is getting ridiculous. [Apologies for venting]
  11. I'd rather have a slow, more accurate throw than a harder throw that ends up in the dugout. Weeks is still progressing and perhaps he will get better at turning the DP with more tutelage from Randolph/Sveum.
  12. That or trade Prince for 3 impact players and I will be optimism abound as well.
  13. I'm sensing sarcasm. The Suppan contract only will haunt us for one more year. That is the silver lining to this dark cloud of news.
  14. I don't mind Gomez in the 2 spot because he's hitting in front of Braun and Fielder and will see his share of "Get me over" fastballs. Since Gomez has pretty good power, he might hit 10-15 home runs in this position instead of batting on the bottom of the order. I wouldn't consider putting him at leadoff until he can prove that he can post a .340 OBP or above for which he hasn't even sniffed in his big league career.
  15. Not that this thread's argument holds any water anyways due to lack of a sample, but it should be noted that Zaun has had some well struck balls turn into outs so far. Therefore, in his first 8 AB's luck has not been on his side. (BABIP = .000)
  16. The thing with Wolf though is he can actually miss a bat here and there.
  17. How did he screw himself in his first call-up? By telling Macha not to start him? What an idiot that guy is. On last night's broadcast Schroeder was talking about how Gamel was always hurt and had a real chance to make the team this spring in a back up role. There is something in the air be it just the press box or if its coming from off the record talks.I'll take option A on the exam.
  18. You haven't heard? Closers are the most valuable piece to a baseball team because their successes and failures are most easily remembered.
  19. Well said and very humorous. Thanks for putting things into perspective.
  20. A good way to fix Suppan is to DFA him or move him to the pen. He's already a sunk cost and every inning that he steals from Bush/Parra will yield a lower win total at the end of the season. Please, Melvin. Give up on him.
  21. I'm not sure how Ken Williams is ranked 9th. He's made some pretty awful trades in the past 5 years (Lee for Podsednick/Vizcaino, acquiring Rios's bad contract, etc), and the book is still out on the Peavy trade. Sure his team got hot and won a World Series not too long ago, but that might have been in spite of Ken Wiliams.
  22. So is Casey McGehee going to be what Tim Jarmusz was to the Badgers this year: everything that is wrong with the team we just blame him? If Gamel proves he is a better 3B in Spring Training and maybe in the first part of his season in Nashville, he'll play. If he doesn't, then that probably means McGehee is playing pretty well. That sounds like a win-win situation to me.
