  1. CRISIS MODE!!! CALL 911!!! 3.5 GAMES OUT OF FIRST IN MAY!!!! SOS!!! SAVE OUR SHIP! Ok. I'm done.
  2. I would advise the fans to take a 2 week trip to Europe and not even watch the Brewers for 2 weeks. You come back a little out of touch, but it kind of relaxes you a bit. Try it.
  3. I think we should change the name of this thread to "Are the starting pitchers who can't go more than 5 innings and the lineup who can't hardly slug for .400 stifling this team" Come on guys. Yost has nothing to do with the Brewers losing the Houston series. Give the guy a break. Or at least a cup of coffee. He might even buy you one too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  4. Good Analogy, FTJ. Managers do learn just like 13 year olds do. You were obviously way ahead of your years. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I think it was a conspiracy that Brett Favre always wanted to play and that even though he was greatly injured and tired, he shouldn't have been out on the field. Point being that it's a good thing that Gagne wanted to be out there. It's not a bad thing or some proclaimed conspiracy.
  6. Shouldn't we expect a roster move before today's game because we aren't playing the Lefty Loaded Reds anymore and Gwynn has had plenty of rehab time down in the Music City?
  7. He did not have the same information that everyone else did on this board. He had information from Gagne himself and his staff including Maddux and Castro. We already covered this.
  8. The great part about this is that Yost probably won't trot Gagne out there 4 straight days anymore. That's what makes him a good manager. He learns from his mistakes. Case and point is Turnbow not seeing the 8th inning anymore and putting Prince back to the cleanup spot where he feels most comfortable. And even though it was a mistake, he didn't know that before because he's never tried putting Gagne out there 4 times in a row. I'm sure if he could do it all over again, he would do the same thing because he didn't have the information he has now. It's April, and the best way to get value out of games this early in the season is to get a good feel for your team and Yost is doing that right now. Give him a break and let him go to Brady Street and drink his coffee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  9. I do agree with that but the problem was that we didn't have a "non-tired" Gagne. I still think a tired Gagne throwing it 91 mph was a better option than a non-tired Riske throwing it 87 mph and Ned Yost seemed to agree with me.
  10. What would Gagne rather have? option A) A World Series option B) One less save that Riske picked up because he had pitched the 3 previous days Gagne wants to win and so does Yost. In their opinion, Gagne going out there in the 10th gave their team the best chance to win. (which turned out to be wrong in hindsight and here we sit) BTW, I think Gagne would take option A.

  12. Gagne is getting 10 million this year and has gotten paid very well throughout his career. His interests are to win games which coincides with Ned Yost's interests. Sure, Gagne wants to get paid after this year, but it's not like it's a big conspiracy like you making it out to be.
  13. Another reason I agree with Yost on this decision is it shows he trusts his players. Gagne now knows he has the full confidence of Yost and he can be trusted by his manager. Gagne and Yost will learn from this and this won't happen in September because they both know their limitations now. It costs us a game in April in hindsight, but if Edwin Encarnacion doesn't hit that changeup that was 2 feet off the outside corner over the fence, we aren't even talking about this.
  14. Didn't we just have a thread that discussed Weeks future with the team and that discussed whether he was a bust? I could be mistaken.
  15. I bet Rollie Fingers was called in to save games after pitching the 3 previous days. FIRE HARVEY KUENN!
  16. Really? That seems preposterous.
  17. I think the Kerry Wood situation is a lot different than Gagne's situation. Sure, Gagne had some injury problems, but it's not like Kerry Wood's where his arm fell off and they had to sew it back on so he could pitch again.
  18. So you don't know why Yost brought Gagne in? Just because you disagree with him doesn't mean you don't know why.
  19. Exactly. That's why no one should take press conferences at face value. Because Yost doesn't care about selling newspapers. He cares about his team. And now here comes the "Well if he cared about his team he wouldn't have brought Gagne in after pitching 3 straight days." So I'll say it before everyone else does. Do you think people didn't know how Yost was going to answer the "Why did you bring Gagne in?" in the press conference? That's why they are a waste of time.
  20. I wonder if Harvey Kuenn would have held Rollie Fingers out of the game if he had pitched 3 straight games before in a save situation.
  21. Press Conferences are just meant to sell newspapers. Managers just do all they can to get them over with and get back to their proper focus: the team. Does it really matter what Yost says to the media about why he brought Gagne in the game? It was obvious. Gagne is our closer, and closers come in during save situations. Did we have to have a press conference to have Yost reveal that "secret" information. That's one of the most annoying things about press conferences. All the questions asked during them are questions that everyone knows the answers to already. Gotta get that quote for the next day's newspaper though!
  22. I still don't understand how people take media press conferences at face value.
  23. Yeah you can't teach velocity, but I don't think he'll ever locate well enough to be a closer, and the Brewers don't have time to waste on closers on projects like Seth.
  24. Well who do you want closing the game? Turnbow? Cordero saved 5 games in a row last year. 4 in a row can definitely be done.
  25. There is no way Parra will throw for 200 innings this year even if he's in the rotation the whole year (which he won't be). He has been and will be on strict pitch counts. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
