  1. I noticed that this guy is doing pretty well for AA Huntsville. He's getting very good run support so his 6-1 record looks better than it is, but he's got a 4 ERA and it looks like he can eat up innings as he has went 51 innings in 9 starts. He's also lefty. Anyone know what kind of pitches this guy has and what kind of velocity he gets? He's 24 years old so a promotion to AAA would be kind of nice to see what we've got in him.
  2. If he can handle CF, sign me up for him as the CF of the future. I don't want an OF of Braun, Hart, and LaPorta. That just wouldn't get it done defensively.
  3. Yes. He wanted the Pirates GM job this offseason, but they passed over him for someone else. Jack Z would gladly be our GM.
  4. I know we don't like to talk about intangible things like a players "psyche" here on Brewerfan.net because we are more numbers oriented, but I'll throw this out there anyways: Maybe Zack Jack will become more motivated and confident from coming to the big leagues and he will shine. It's not likely, but it very well could happen. He does remind me of a left handed version of Riske if you look at his style and stuff.
  5. Questionable move, but a minor one at that. Zach Jack does throw a lot of strikes, but the problem is he throws too many.
  6. As long as I don't get punched by Liz, I'll be there. Those punches in the chat room hurt! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  7. Doug Melvin has brought the Brewers from Garbage Collectors to contenders in the division. Sure, he we haven't gotten to the playoffs yet, but at least baseball is worthwhile in Milwaukee. It sure wasn't in 2002.
  8. It's not the options I am worried about. It's starting his arby clock.
  9. It's not Torre's fault completely, but it sure didn't help Mota did it?
  10. Yeah just when we seem to get something going with the bullpen, Torre has to pull crap like this. Can't we get a break?
  11. Yeah and I was getting crap for giving up 2. I'm in your boat. I don't even think Gamel AND LaPorta would get Lincecum and there's many people here that wouldn't do the deal on our end. The Giants need hitting so bad though. Can we try for Matt Cain instead?
  12. I would love to get Lincecum. It would be costly by having to give up Gamel or LaPorta (probably both), but I think it'd be worth it. I got ripped apart in the chat room during the game for saying that, but it's not an outrageous thought.
  13. Good for the Rays. Any wins they can take away from Boston and New York makes me happy. This helps baseball economics in my opinion by showing that even the smallest of markets can win.
  14. Wouldn't we waste a year on Gamel if we did that? His defense won't be ready at 3B until 2010 so I wouldn't waste him just yet.
  15. Hopefully that works out like the Jason Kendall signing did last year for them.
  16. Torre had the umpires check the ball to see if Mota was cheating if I'm not mistaken. What would give him reason to suspect this? Isn't that kind of Bush league just to try to get into the pitcher's head? Apparently it worked because Mota blew the game. Joe Torre - Genius of all Geniuses.
  17. So do we let Gamel figure out 3B and wait to call him up until he's 25? That's a sad thing to think about considering his bat is ready now, but when you have depth, I guess that's what you do.
  18. I was discussing the Brewers future OF which was defined as ok before my post. I put 2 sentences in about Lincecum. You also did a nice job of being condescending as well.
  19. Another classic example of fans overvaluing their teams prospects. I'll take 3 years of Lincecum all day over the uncertainty of Gamel and LaPorta. And why do we need to be loaded with outfield prospects? We have Braun and Hart in the corners. We can pick up Cameron's option if we need a CF for another year. We have Gwynn as a quality 4th OF. Irabarren could be the next option after that if he improves his defense. We also have 7 draft picks in the first 3 rounds in the meantime to restock. There is also: Michael Brantley Brent Brewer (who will be an OF eventually) Darren Ford Lorenzo Cain Caleb Gindl Brandon Katin None of those names seem that exciting right now, but heck, odds are a couple of them will pan out.
  20. Luck. He's had some really bad luck in his blown saves.
  21. I would trade Gamel AND LaPorta for Lincecum. Lincecum coming to the Brewers would mean playoffs in 2008.
  22. Yay! Jeffress is back! I got a chance to see this guy throw at Maryvale and he absolutely throws smoke. I told him to keep up the good work and he gave me his autograph. Can't wait to see this guy back on the mound!
  23. The Brewers might have a similar situation with the Angels in a couple years with Napoli and Mathis in the Bigs: 2 nice young catchers who can hit.
  24. Yeah the approach is definitely LaPorta's strong suit. He's not going to try to do it all with one swing and take what the pitcher gives you and hit it where it's pitched. The walk rate gets me really excited too. Getting LaPorta back at 1st base and trading Prince for 3 premium pitching prospects doesn't sound that whacky 2 years from now if LaPorta keeps this up.
