  1. Well if we want a chance to win it all this year, the following things must occur: 1) The Cubs must come back to earth so we can still win the division. 2) Bill Hall makes a complete recovery from his ankle injury 3) Weeks starts hitting 4) Cappy and Suppan pitch like they are supposed to If those 4 things don't happen, our WS odds go way down.
  2. I guess I just think the youth of this team is going to catch up with them at some point this season. Hopefully that happens after we make the playoffs so we have something to show for this year. If we get hot at the right time, it could be our year, but I think we stack up better talent wise next year.
  3. The Brewers are contenders, yes, but I think the team shapes out to being more of a championship team next year. Hopefully we can make the playoffs this year and get our feet wet to gain some playoff experience for next year.
  4. Not to mention LaPorta and Inman could be mid season call ups.
  5. They both should be able to go 200 innings next year with ease.
  6. If anyone told me that the Brewers would be 10 games over 500 at the all star break, I would have jumped for joy. It has been a very good year so far, but I am going to argue that we have a much better shot at being a contender next year because of several factors: - Weeks will be fully recovered from wrist surgery and start to live up to his hype - Gallardo and Villanueva will be in the rotation and we won't have to worry about innings limits. - The young guys like Braun, Fielder, Hart, and Hardy will become more established hitters with this year's experience under their belt The only downfall to next year is that we won't have Cordero, so all we have to do is find a closer and 2008 could be "The Year"
  7. Ichiro is the poster child for not using OPS as the end all, be all. Well his career OPS is well over 800 so it's not like it's that bad.
  8. Now that it seems we have a great future at 3B with Ryan Braun, what is the future for Mat Gamel? His 3rd base defense has been attrocious so it seems he will have to switch positions if he wants to make it with the Brewers. How long will it be before they move him to the outfield or somewhere else on the diamond? It might be a little bit early to be talking about this considering he isn't even in AA yet, but he can't be too far away the way he is hitting at Bervard County.
  9. I must not fall into this category then because I have always been on the Sheets bandwagon, but never have been on the Capuano bandwagon. Even when Cappy was 5-0 early in the year, he was playing with fire. He got out of a lot of trouble and hasn't been able to maintain. I love having Capuano on days where he has his best stuff, but he if he doesn't, he gets shelled. Let's hope the long rest gave Cappy's arm some time to rest up and become the solid #2 pitcher that we need. I am wondering if I fall into this "category" of fan, but it appears not entirely. Just my take on this. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Could you elaborate on your definition of the word "fan"? Are you talking more about casual fans, fans on this site, or both?
  11. Well if they would call up Parra, that likely means it's for bullpen help and that means the rumor that Parra can't warm up that fast so he couldn't come out of the pen appears to be false.
  12. So what if Gallardo falters in the pen? Do we send him back down to AAA? I hope this doesn't ruin the guy's confidence, but I do agree with the move. It is the best way to save his arm while he will still have good value to the Brewers.
  13. He's on a rival team and he's good just like Pujols and Derrick Lee. That warrants enough to boo for me.
  14. They just mentioned Parra's perfect game on ESPNNEWS. Awesome!
  15. And you'd think the White Sox could win one lousy game against the Cubs. They are officially the most useless team in baseball.
  16. What are the probabilities of both panning out and being at the top of our rotation in 5 years?
  17. I just hope Jeffress isn't another Jose Cappelan where his velocity dives into the low 90's after being claimed as a 100 mph thrower. Inman isn't a sure thing, but he is as close as they get in a system considering how well he's pitched so far. He should start the year in AAA next year and be a September call up or even early if he dominates AAA and stays away from injury.
  18. Ok, so who will have the better career as a Brewer: Jeffress or Inman? Jeffress seems to have the better stuff, but Inman has the better command as expected because he's more advanced in our system. I'd say Jeffress has the higher ceiling with that 100 mph fastball, but Inman is more of a sure thing. I wouldn't mind seeing Jeffress as our closer in 2-3 years.
  19. Make up for your horrible defense, Weeks.
  20. If we lose this game, I'm starting a "Vargas to the pen" thread.
  21. When you have a 6 run lead, you have no business walking guys. Throw some pitches right down the middle and go after the hitters.
  22. Sheets Line tonight: 9 IP 0 ER 0 BB 0 Hits 27 up, 27 down!
