  1. Isn't LaPorta already 24 years old? He's gotta be a Brewer next year to start the season if he's ready defensively.
  2. Jim Powell was saying today that there's a chance Joe Dillon won't make the team because the team has so many every day players and that they might keep 13 pitchers. I hope that doesn't happen because we could use his bat in late inning situations.
  3. Cappy had a horrible spring training last year and then pitched well in April, and no matter how much better Parra is, I want to see Cappy start the year in the rotation to eat innings and save Parra for the 2nd half of the year. I wonder if he will be pitching at Miller Park for the home opener. At least it's against the light hitting Giants.
  4. I was listening to the game today and all I heard when Cappy was pitching was how he kept leaving the ball up in the zone. With his horrible fastball, he just can't do that. It wasn't even that he gave up 6 runs. The guy just doesn't have the stuff to be in our rotation when we have guys like Villy and Parra with more upside. I'm all for giving Cappy a chance because of his track record, but I don't think he'll be pitching too long in Milwaukee. I hope I'm wrong.
  5. At least we know we have options if Gagne gets hurt at closer.
  6. He made a change to his grip and he's been getting more movement on his fastball. I think he's going to have a great year this year because we won't have to depend on him so much. Torres, Riske, and Mota can give him days off. I blame Turnbow's bad stretch at the end of 2007 on being over worked. Turnbow getting attention EDIT: Updated title - b19
  7. I was wondering when the Brewers mail those things out. I assume they wait as long as possible to minimize scalping tickets.
  8. I emailed him and told him to try out a career at McDonalds.
  9. Would it be ok to boo prince then if he went to the Cubs? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  10. Matt LaPorta will fit in nice at 1st base in a few years.
  11. If Capuano and Vargas are in the rotation with Villy in the minors, I will no longer be a Brewer fan.
  12. I'd rather have neither. Manny Parra and Dave Bush should be the 4 and 5.
  13. Roberts is definitely better than DeRosa because even though they put up a similar OPS, Roberts steals a ton of bases and plays a lot better defense. I agree with the scariest part of the Cubs getting Roberts is they will move Soriano down the lineup. The Cubs would have had 3-4 more wins in 2007 with Soriano down the order.
  14. Roberts would probably be an upgrade over DeRosa because of his speed and OBP, but I don't consider him a player that puts a team over the top. This writer is trying to make it seem like getting him makes or breaks their season.
  15. Try it again. It should work now. Sorry!
  16. According to this article, it does: Orioles' Roberts has reappeared on Cubs' wish list (fixed link --1992)
  17. That will happen as long as we don't blow an 8 game lead.
  18. I'll be there from March 12th to March 17th. We are staying downtown Phoenix and hope to catch a Suns game while we are there. I want to get down to Tuscon for the DBacks game as well.
  19. Sheets will be on the DL with a sore pinky toe by May so Parra will get his chance soon.
  20. Yeah, good point, 19. Why the heck wouldn't they hire a new GM before they decided LaRussa's fate. Maybe that was their only chance to get LaRussa back. I wonder if there's anything in his new contract about keeping his Blood Alcohol Content below .15 at all times. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  21. Tony LaRussa signed a 2 year deal with the Cards. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071022&content_id=2275736&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
