  1. In our district they have sent out surveys and are going to let parents choose. 5 days a week in person or virtual. The plan for now is no hybrid with the idea that we may need to go all virtual. As far as kids socializing...I see the same kids socializing as I would have. I really dont think kids play much anymore. /get off my lawn old man comment
  2. Great point socal. I think we get so caught up in looking at positive numbers and death rates that we gloss over some of those other potential negatives. If I'm unfortunate enough to catch covid...I dont think I'm going to die, but I am concerned about my 1 year old daughter and pregnant wife. Will it hurt their lungs going forward? Will there be any other things to happen? That's what concerns me most.
  3. Possibly. I personally hate wearing a mask, but will wear one of I'm told to do so. I'm also getting more comfortable wearing one without being asked. It is interesting to look at the numbers of countries that went to masks right away compared to those that haven't. A lot of those countries use masks more often typically though, so maybe if we get used to using masks more often it wont be a big deal the next time something like this comes through.
  4. I do find it funny that there have been a few talking heads declaring schools need to open and there are risks all around us...yet they are working from home.
  5. That would appear to be the case. A promising pitching career destroyed by a pick off play while running the bases. Truly sad. Wasn't it after he over-ran first base on a base hit? That'd still be a pickoff, but just...even worse somehow. Thought he was leading off, but I'm probably misremembering.
  6. It is interesting to look at what they did and how quickly they did it and what people were willing/told to do and how the transmission has slowed there.
  7. My wife and I had 4 tickets to Rock USA. They just cancelled...about 2 weeks ago maybe. Anyway, they just sent an email and it was almost as if they were trying to play the victim. The kicker? In the email it said they are going to try and refund the tickets. Ummm, that's 500$. If you arent going to refund the tickets I would like to know so I can dispute the charges and go to the BBB or something before it gets too late to make a claim.
  8. I see some Cowboys and Texans have tested positive. I just dont know how they are going to have a season with all the rules they put in place. That or the product is going to be even more watered down.
  9. Basically everyone I play hockey with is a functioning stoner. One guy takes it all day and works with a bag strapped to his thigh. I would consider that an addiction. As far as work, most of them were smart enough to buy items to help them pass or were able to quit before job interviews. Oddly, their jobs now dont care about it unless they cause an accident at work. Which for my buddies kind of stinks because they dont smoke during the work day. /tangent In my opinion, weed shouldn't be tested for, but if that's company rules...then follow those rules.
  10. I'm also anxious for some pitching, but doesnt it seem like Stearns and company draft a lot of hitters? Perhaps the idea is to develop hitting and trade/sign pitching?
  11. Are you sure this is happening? I only ask because I thought I saw that if you were able to go back to work you had to or your employer could report your name or something. Definitely is happening, my brother works for FunJet or whatever it's called now, and is making more while furloughed than he was working. He has not been asked to come back though. I mentioned somewhere else about some family friends who own a brewery in central WI, who cannot get the staff to come back to give up the benefits. It's happening, but like most of things of this nature, probably greatly exaggerated. There are certainly people who game the system and want handouts, but most people, I think, do get bored of having no job, miss the socializing of those kinds of positions, and would go back if they could do so. I'd question the sanity of anyone punting on a guaranteed job because they want the unemployment on steroids for another month, at this point. That's good info, but I was wondering more for those that have been asked to return. Being furloughed is a little different. My wife's company was furloughing employees but they get their position back. That seems different to me. Maybe the bigger issue is adults that are working 40 hour weeks making so little. I agree on the thought about punting a guaranteed job though. Seems shortsighted. My brother didnt want to go back to work right away because his wife is a cancer survivor. His job told him he had to choose. Come back to work or no job. That's why I was curious on how the extra unemployment money worked.
  12. I dont see any sports allowing fans this year.

  14. I dont disagree with what you said, but my only response would be that you dont need to be in church to practice your faith(funerals are different). In fact, I'm pretty sure the bible even says something similar. I may be misremembering.
  15. I guess I dont see why it's funny that someone doesnt want to risk spreading their germs even in an open space. The risk of transmission while riding a bike or jogging outside is effectively 0. It's at the point where if you're going to do that you might as well get the thing sewn on your face with a zipper for eating because germs. Doesn't "bother" me, but I'd also probably laugh. I suppose that I just dont see why it's funny to see someone thinking they are helping out.

  17. Only if you have a crappy roommate. I had a great roommate my freshman year. (It was wallus)
  18. I hear they are discussing a world cup style tournament. No idea what that entails. I do like Cubans idea though. Seems interesting and fun.
  19. Money and power.
  20. To add to that, most people only read the headlines. That's why we see so many doom and gloom articles. However, when we read the article it isnt nearly as bad as the headline makes it out to be.
  21. It really is. They 'opened up', but just canceled an upcoming election. What message are we sending here?
  22. My wife is a tech designer for Kohl's. She would tell you that was a bad tech design. Ha
  23. I cannot stand cotton shirts. I basically only use tri-blend shirts these days. However, I cannot stand things 'touching' me and cotton generally is tighter and tougher on the skin to me.
  24. Smaller schools will likely have this issue with their big sports too.
  25. How so? I feel like it shows the opposite.
